Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

A few questions after playing a bit more...
1. Sometimes I'll notice negative numbers show up on the display when I'm fighting something. Usually this is when the ball is hitting the bumpers, but it might just be because I have a chance to look up to see it. Any idea what this negative number means?
2. When selling loot, a number shows up after selling, are those bonus points? It seems like it's accruing with the more loot I sell.
3. How the hell do you hit the Cave? I swear, I've only hit this spot like 4 or 5 times the entire time I've played this table.

1. Its probably the display getting caught up showing damage either to you or your enemy.
2. Those are the points added for selling whatever item you're getting rid of, the number of points seems to be based on the value of the item you keep.
3. I just catch the ball on the left flipper then let it slide down and hit it when it's near the end of the flipper, probably about 3/4 of the way down or a little more.

Okay, thanks. I still can't hit the damn cave.

I did get all epic gear. Ever since, it's been throwing tons of epic gear at me, I think I've gotten about 12-15 so far.

I'm finding I'm not even bothering to get scrolls unless they're a traveling reward. I prefer going for the middle lane skillshot, since you can build it to 3 million at a time and it's an extremely easy skillshot, since if you undershoot it, you get a redo, and there's a mark on the strength meter that is pretty much where you have to hit it.

I think I'm liking this table so much because it's more of a classic table, that could pretty much be a real-life table.

Can any of you confirm that the EOB multiplier is increased by spelling SMASH, then hitting the smash target? I think spelling it out caused the next number to start to blink, then the target caused it to increase.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

That sounds right, but you know there's a rule sheet that explains everything, right?

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

I didn't see it covered in the rule sheet. The FX rule sheets aren't nearly as thorough as the ones in Williams Pinball HoF.

But the one for Epic Quest is a Choose Your Own Adventure which makes it better regardless.

Actually, there is a lot they don't cover.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Well, I haven't read this one, but in my experience they cover the basic scoring mechanics such as multipliers, multiball modes, and missions. Is that not true this time?

Using your scrolls comes in handy at higher level enemies. Hear me now, believe me later.

Sure, the basics. But it doesn't "explain everything" as you put it.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

Even though I don't quite get (mostly) Epic Quest, I am getting much better score wise. Managed to hit the 25 million barrier, and consistently get in 15-20 million right now. No its not Pinata numbers, but I know better than to shoot for the moon on my FX 2games

I know, right? I've played it maybe 4 times, I should work on that. And clearly he's more selective on his friends list than I.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

I still don't get the Thor table, but the tournament is pushing me to keep playing. And was he molested as a kid? What's with the "play with your uncle" quote?

Put some more time into Epic Quest. I really need to focus on the cave shots because otherwise I won't progress. I keep killing everything in the forest and the mill with no problem, but I can rarely start a dungeon monster outside of a travelling reward. Got my skillshots up to over 3M which was helpful.

Also, I could have sworn the manual said that spells would insta-kill everything that wasn't resistant to it. Sometimes that does happen, but usually not. Oh well, I'll just use those on the Bat Frenzy and Skeleton Swarm from now on.

Oh, and I got my crown back from L&O. I'm getting sick of having to delouse it every time he takes it.

Or clearly I have less friends on my list than most :/. See, you put in 4 games and get 50 million...I put in 15-20 games and start to get 25 million. I'm just saying you have a much better apititude at pinball than I do. It's a compliment, damn it.

Re: The Ultimate Battle Free Pinball Thread

L&O was just commenting that he had 240M at the time. I've since passed that, though, so now his comment is null & void

Yeah, you have 264M, big whoop. if it wasn't for my auto drained ball last night I would've been there too. 194 on essentially 2 balls.

Or I can just buy the other four tables you own that I don't, and get my scores up that way...chump.
