Re: Halo: Reach - Fall 2010
Hope anyone doesn't have there heart set on playing tonight. Been sitting here fo 20 minutes and haven't gotten into a match. Looks like miyu & Music might be having the same problem.
What's hilarious is matchmaking went from 311k playing to 250k. People jumping this broken ass shit. I thought they were prepared for 3 mil.?

Re: Halo: Reach - Fall 2010
i played a few matches earlier. same ole story for me cause i suck @ MP. went into Slayer "free for all". not much other options i could see or understand.
really reminded me of my Halo 2 MP experience (people with awesome weapons that shot a bazillion shots per second, using rocket packs, stealth kills...none of which i had a clue how to get or do). i did get 4 lucky kills in maybe 5 or 6 matches, couple revenge kills. also, didn't like the controller changes. LT shoots grenades. i guess going prequel takes the dual wield away? don't think i even had a shield or maybe none is available in MP.
everything seemed exactly like H2 and probably MP's will like it, but didn't do anything for me. rather play the campaign. popped it out and went back to Borderlands.
also, the graphics weren't anything spectacular either. the inside corridors were very drab and quite lifeless. blocky and seemed like nothing new or fresh from the franchise.

Hit up a few games and like it. I didn't get used to the controls at all though.
Loved the scoped Needler.
I don't know why, but some of the levels had a bit of a GoldenEye feel to them for me.

I got in on a few games earlier and like starman was thinking GoldenEye but, then again, might be because I haven't played a FPS since GoldenEye

Played for about an hour earlier. If you're having trouble adjusting to the new controller layout the "recon" config is essentially Halo 3's (the LB and X are switched, but that's it.)
Loved Stockpile, hated Juggernaut. Had trouble with Headhunter. Collecting skulls seemed too finicky -- for me at least. Probably at least a dozen times I ran over a pile of skulls without picking them up for no apparent reason.
The shotgun is also (more) ridiculously overpowered. In one game of Headhunter, one shotgun blast got *three* of us. I was also able to pick off people with it from a pretty unreasonable distance without much problem.
Definitely some things that will need tweaking prior to retail in my opinion, but I do like what I see for the most part.

Shit, I can't even DL the Beta. It just stays at 1% and then stops.

Finally got things working. Sorry Nate, my friends and I were having issues being in a group. For about an hour it wouldn't load a single game so we were in party chat playing solo matches.
Then at some point Bungie must have done something because everything started working. We were able to get into a party and run some team matches eventually.
As for the game, I really like it. It's still Halo.
However it seems like it doesn't matter what Bungie offers for Covenent weapons everyone just uses the Human ones. I played Grab Bag all night but never saw Juggernaut or Headhunter. Stockpile is fun, but easily won at this point because it seems most people a.) don't have a clue what's going on, or b.) aren't working as a team. One match the opposing team kept dropping flags into our ring. Pretty funny.
I don't really care for any of the new gimmicks/load outs either. I'd much rather see the items from H3 return. Power Drainer, Bubble Shield and Regenerator are all 10x better than the Jetpack, Running or Shield powerups. The only one that I find useful is the Stealth one for jamming the radar.
I found a pretty good hiding spot on Sword Base for Oddball, as evidenced by my final score in this match:

If I don't like any of the previous Halo multiplayer stuff, will I like this? Is it different enough that it's worth a shot or is it just more of the same?

I hated the equipment in Halo 3 and i am really digging the loadouts so far. It seems like everyone i know digs a different class (except for the crappy running ability). Personally i am all about the armor lockdown ability.

Hopefully today I can get a better feel for it all. I'm going to try to stick with the regular controls for a while. I never did figure out how to switch grenades. I also never got a rocket launcher, but one guy was pummeling us, is the 'clip' bigger now?
xmiyux, I loved the armor lockdown too, only because people are still getting used to it and it was great to sticky the idiots as they crouch in front of you

I love starting out with that pistol that's more like the ODST one.

Yeah, it's funny prior to the beta everyone was wanting a sprint like CoD and now that it's in the game, no one uses it.

I finally was able to get on and play about 10pm CST. I think there were three maps. Some of the new weapons (like the single-shot battle rifle) I did not like. I think the shield is overpowered. I did actually like sprint and the jetpack. Some cool new gametypes, though a couple were confusing. I did get my ass handed to me pretty much every game, but still had some fun.

Re: Halo: Reach - Fall 2010
Well I played about 5 games last night. I had little bit of hope that this Halo would finally be good. I was wrong. It's the same grenade fest, 12 year old shit talking game it always was. The guns still do little to no damage, forcing everyone to run around smacking each other with guns and tossing grenades like it's Christmas. I'm so used to games Like Battlefield that I forgot how terrible "no skill" shooters really are. The 4 classes are a joke. They are not even classes, just 1 extra feature per person. I was expecting actual classes like in Battlefield (snipers, medics etc) but again was let down. I will still play it in the fall for the co-op story and hope that it is better, but the multiplayer still fails. Hell, even the graphics were th same as Halo 3, which is not a good thing.

Yeah, I was not sure how the ARMOR SHELL "GUARD" worked. I think it damaged people around you or something as you punch the ground. Also, you can get smacked while in the shell.

All I ask is that instead of making this forum your own personal Yahoo Answers page that you actually type your question into google first - if then you get no answer that works ask it here. And if you would, provide proof of your search so we can better help you hone the skills of self service.

Re: Halo: Reach - Fall 2010
so now i have to prove i've done some research prior to any and all questions i might ask, no matter how trivial that could probably be answered in 2 secs by someone a lot more knowledgeable than me who's played more than 5 matches?
wtf has this become?

i don't have credits so i can't do anything and didn't know if there was another way for fucks sake.
