We gave up on Expert on the 2nd level. The difference between expert and advanced is huge. Passed that same level on our second try.

I don't know how you can even come close to completing a campaign on expert. The common infected inflict so much damage. If you ever get surrounded for more than a few seconds, you're guaranteed to go down.

Did they increase smoker damage in this one? I got dragged off by a smoker in this game, and I was stuck against a highway divider. Every pull where I was stuck was doing 10 damage to me. Brutal.

Re: Left 4 dead 2 thread of zombie action
I think it depends on the difficulty setting.
Oh man, we got pwned on the mall level set on Advanced. Failed the map 2 crescendo twice. The last time I got hit with a Charger right out of the toy store, over the ledge and all to the way to the ground floor. Brutal.
Actually, the easiest one I've found has been Hard Rain. The finale is the closest to the original game of any of the campaigns.

I'm seeing too many Infected floating towards me. It's like their legs aren't running but they're coming at me. I hope they patch this because it looks stupid.

I bought it on steam yesterday (but yet to download it since I am out of town) after reading thoughts on it. I played the demo and have L4D, but I alway found myself going back to TF2. I love everything valve does though so thought I should support them.
Didn't realize people's issue with the no mic crowd. Mine stopped working, but have been playing without. Guess it time to get it working if L4D2 is as hard as people are saying.

I saw this on the L4D2 Facebook page...
l4d.com
We have upgraded our network infrastructure to better accommodate the huge response to L4D2. 360 players will now have lag-free servers. We've also added more dedicated servers. We will continue to monitor the situation and add resources as needed. ..

Well I hope they are working on the servers. Four us played last night with all connected via "Live Party". One player was getting booted out of the party everytime he got pinned and the rest were getting randomly knocked out to. But it was no-where near like it was the week it came out.

Yup, the connection was terrible. Four players with local server was good, but any versus game just was brutal. I hope I see a difference the next time I play.

If you're not playing "Hard Rain" with the surrounds turned up...you're missin' out.

I should have my copy later this week and will be looking to play online. My Gamertag is OuterEdge for those I haven't added yet that are playing.

Has anyone had issues with Logitech headset and Vista. While the headphones work, the mic does not. Any fixes or suggestions?

The bridge is a fucking torture run, and I love it. I had the most exciting experience on it. I was playing 4 player and had yet to beat that campaign. We are doing great through it, but it falls apart at the end when a tank busts through. The other three have basically left me to die, but I just haul ass away from the tank, chuck a pipe bomb, and make it onto the chopper with only 1 health remaining. Lucky shit.

For fucks sake. The end of every level is like some sort of hellish contraption designed to mutilate. I cannot get across the bridge and I cannot get gas in the goddamn car. Ugh. But a really fun "Ugh"

On my second try I was almost at the rescue point but I was low on health. I jumped off the bridge and missed my landing point died on the ground. Also, the way they connected all the stories is really cool and makes lots of sense.

I'm also digging the Bile Jars

It's all about the grenades.
I know some people were against it, but I'm glad these stories are set in the day time. I have a hell of a time seeing what's going on in the mall, so it's always welcome to be in the open and see the zombies coming from every direction.

Thank you. The game has you being attacked in scenes ranging from Daylight to very dark rooms with hardly any visibility. It's the best of both worlds. And again, Hardy Rain is a masterpiece.

I will say that I'm a little torn on the save system. I totally get why the safe rooms are great. They add tension to the campaign and allow the game reset where all the zombies are. It's awesome.
But, when it's getting late, and you and your crew die for the 4th time when you're just inches away from the safe room, only to have to slog through a big chunk of the campaign again? That can get a little frustrating. I wish there was essentially a "school night" mode, that had some kind of quick load feature or something so you wouldn't have to start back so far. I dunno, maybe that would break the game though.

Re: Left 4 dead 2 thread of zombie action
I'm hoping the first DLC will be a L4D2 version of Crash Course. i.e. a two map campaign. For quicker matches.
But yeah, I'm finding this game is turning me into quite the ragequitter. I usually manage to make it to the finale, but usually fail miserably and just have to quit after 4-5 attempts.
Sad to say on the end of Dark Carnival we've started to fall back on old tactics. We'll camp waaay up in the far corner of the nosebleed seats. Trying to defend on stage with infected coming at you from all directions is just too hard.

I would actually be really happy if there was a way to start the different campaigns at the mid-point. It feels like every level has a logical halfway break point, and it would be neat if you could start lobbies at the half way marks of the level. For instance, in Dead Center, be able to start a lobby at the beginning, or right when you get to the mall. I think that would cut down on the frustration of having to play certain sections over and over again, since you wouldn't have been playing for an hour already.

You can start a campaign at any save room point.
