I played the DEMO with some folks online and even though we didn't speak we still sort of worked together and it was an enjoyable experience.

I HATE those little Back Rider fuckers and the spitting Infected chick just seems like an extension of the Boomer. Of course the bile she spits is deadly. And for some reason I really like that the Witch roams around crying.

I'm sure it will be balanced. If not when it comes out then when an update is released due to all the complaints about said advantage the Survivors have.

I just played it solo last night and I enjoyed it. I still got the "Whoah, I'm surrounded and not gonna make it" vibe so, I'm happy in all!

The environment didn't seem as polished as in the first game. It felt like a video game level instead of a real place. I'm guessing they pulled back on the textures and polygon count in order to bring in more zombies.

My thoughts exactly. My buddy DL'd it a couple days before I did and he praised it, but I was disappointed when I played it...it seems generic. I only played a couple levels, but I got through an entire level with (almost) just using a melee attack, which seemed weak to me.

Be sure to modify the difficulty. Some friends and I burned through it really easily the first few times, then we tried Expert. It's much harder than it was in L4D. We didn't even make it accross the street from the dock where you begin. Your health drops 10-15% each time a zombie hits you. Advanced is also challenging.

Visually I think it's about the same, but the 'daylight setting' highlights some of the dated aspects of Source. Keep in mind this engine is nearing six years of age. If the textures look better in the original, I think it's only because they're covered in darkness and shadows. The visuals are on par with what you might see in HL2 or one of the sequels. I think it still looks great, but I do hope most of the levels are at night. Fits the game better.

Overall I found the demo amazing, and I'm taking off work on the 17th to play that shit from 12:01am to 11.59pm without pause.

First time I played it. I thought it was good enough to go out and buy the first one soon when I find it cheap. I do not think it will be a $60 purchase.

What would you guys say are the chances of this title going cheap before Xmas? Say, around $39.99? I'm debating whether to go for the $54.99 (+$10 future purchase credit) on Amazon or wait for a killer deal in a month.

I agree. Actually, I think the game demos really well, and I'm surprised there wasn't one for the first game. I probably would have bought it if I played a demo.

I got addicted pretty hard to the co-op mode in the first game. So getting the sequel was pretty much a no-brainer. Been enjoying the demo so far and can't wait for the full game. What I've seen via Youtube clips has been mighty impressive.

I don't play a whole lot of FPS's, so maybe I'm just more easily impressed than you guys.

Yeah, I had no interest in the first one until I played the demo. Played through once, got off the couch, went straight to the computer and placed a pre-order. That was a great demo.

How do you go about pre-loading it? I opened up Steam and don't see any kind of option anywhere to "pre-load" the game.

It was under my games I right clicked L4D 2 and selected pre-load and it started downloading.

I bit the bullet and pre-ordered thru Gamestop.....nothing better than swinging a Louisville Slugger for the fences using a Zombie's head....though I did like the frying pan.

The machete is my favorite - I think a players are going to wind up fighting over that thing. I love cutting through hordes and watching the zombies fall apart in several pieces.

Only ones I found in the demo were frying pan, nightstick, guitar, and machete. Machete was by far the most fun.

Unbelievable.
Just picked up my copy from Gamestop. First the guy hands me an XBOX 360 copy with the XBOX Live card for the bat, I tell him that I ordered the PC version so he switches them out but guess what....they have no bat exclusive cards for the PC.....
Going to try calling the 800 number tomorrow I guess and see if I can get them to give me a code but this is bullshit. If not then I will be returning the game and buying it from BB. Fuck Gamestop.
