Re: Borderlands
I've got a few friends that's picking this up mainly for the co-op feature. Of course one of the main selling points you see is the "81 Brazillion Weapons" which of course sounds insane. But after reading one's post about the 'CONS" mentioning you're stuck after 6 hrs with the same weapon something doesn't sound right. If you're not going to be able to constantly upgrade what's the point of having "81 Brazillion Weapons"?

Re: Borderlands
The endless supply of weapons is one of the reasons I am going to skip this until it drops in price. There is such a thing as overkill. Also, while I love the idea of endless enemies to kill, I hate the idea of them instantly re-spawning if you just take a few steps away...another reason I will wait.

I was interested in Borderlands, then I read an interview or something where it was apparently FPS first, RPG second, and I'm not a huge FPS fan. Still, it looks energetic enough, and I like the screens/videos I've seen so far, and I also like offline co-op, so I'll keep an eye on it.

Re: Borderlands
Did that mean after 6 hours you're stuck with whatever you pick up - but you can pick up different weapons? (ie no customization or alteration or modification of the weapons). Or does it truly mean that you actually continue to use the same weapon, and is that a choice or are you locked into it?

There is no customization at all on the weapons. From what I can pick up, there are guns that drops from mobs (ala World of Warcraft or any mmo really)

Re: Borderlands
Usually when a game says "200,000 weapons," they mean that there are a limited number of weapon types (say 10 or so -- pistol, shotgun, machine gun, etc.) that come in a variety of flavors stuck together at random ("The +5 pistol of armor piercing," "The +3 shotgun of electricity," "The +4 chainsaw of poison," etc.)

Re: Borderlands
I'm fine with lots of different tweaks on lots of different kinds of weapons. As i said I'm not a hardcore FPSer but especially given the theme of Borderlands, I think I prefer the "loot" way of getting new/different/differently featured weapons over tweaking and modifying existing ones. The Diablo loot junkie in me.

Re: Borderlands
I've always enjoyed the grind aspect of any MMO that I've played, and it sounds like there's plenty of that here, so I'll likely pick this one up next week.
I'd like to finish Uncharted 2 before I get this, and hopefully this will keep me occupied until COD in a few weeks.

Good write up but honestly I'm still unsure. Something is bugging me about the game but just can't put my finger on it.....
