Are you playing it on the PC? it looks pretty good on the PC. I hear the 360 is the worst looking version

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

Yeah, 360. Doesn't matter much to me, though, since I knew this game was being made since before Jade Empire came out and that this game's strong points are other things. I hear the PS3 has the worst framerate, though. That would be more of a problem, I think.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

The 360 version looks worse than many original XBox games. But I don't care -- it's a lot of fun with an extraordinarily engaging plot and really good game mechanics. Bioware delivers yet again.

This game is great the story and characters are really fun to play with. I had a funny encounter on a side quest today.

Spoiler:
I made a girl give me a kiss for a reward after finding her little brother. She was so shy and her brother covered his face in shame.

This is the most engaging RPG I've played since KOTOR. I'm really enjoying myself.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

These kinds of games are so much fun to play. I wonder how many times you would have to play it to actually see and do everything there was to do. I hate having to choose which party members to take with me or leave behind and not knowing what funny encounter I may miss out on.

The Mage Circle quest is by far the best one so far in the game. Loved it...and your character comes out a powerhouse if you take your time.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

Got this last night and played for about 2 hours. Can't wait to go home and play all night. I feel like this is the game I've been waiting for since Baldur's Gate 2 and the game I wanted Neverwinter Nights to be.

Agree. This game is amazing. Lot of depth. I meant to play for 1 hour next thing I know 3 hours passed and I kept thinking...ok one more thing over that hill.....

same here.....the other night I could not sleep, and it was about midnight, and I was thinking "well there are a couple of gift items I could give my team in camp, and since I can't sleep I could get that out of the way"...and the next thing I know one of my teammates gives me a private quest because our friendship meter was now high enough, and 2 hours later I FORCED myself to go to bed.

for such a weak year in games, it sure is ending strong.

Unfortunately, that option never came up for my bald female elf mage. I think she would have enjoyed it.

Did anyone get the superman reference while traveling to a destination?

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

Ugh....I hope I didn't screw myself. I started the Mage tower missions and I am dying constantly. I'm afraid I'm too weak to do this and of course I don't have a backup save point.

Yes, and actually the sword you can make from that is amazing....still using it.

Wolf359...did you try sliding the difficulty down?

I am starting to get the side missions for the characters, and these are well done. I thought the Shale character would not be worth buying (though everyone here got it for free) but his character keeps adding to the story, and there are other missions later that pop up. Very interesting the direction his character goes. You HAVE to have him in your party when you do the Dwarven quests....because it is worth it....very funny moment you will miss if you don't have him in your party.

I think once you start the mage tower quest you are stuck with it until you complete it.

but, as I said earlier, the Mage quest is the best in the game so far. If you take your time and do everything, your character gets CRAZY bonuses to their attributes.
Spoiler:
I think you end up getting about 5 extra on every attribute points if you explorer everything
..it has been the highlight for me...

Ditto. Never bothered with NN, wasn't what I was looking for. This feels so BG2. And I'm just finishing BG2, actually, after having started playing it so many times

I hated doing that quest. As a caster, I died way, way too many times. It was annoying as hell. My character just isn't built for soloing.

I'm watching the wife play through now. She's halfway to where I am. It's funny because my character is such an ass, and she always plays the nice characters
