You do in the 360 version as well. It'll say if a quest is updated or completed. And updates will show up as red text in the quest menu. Being able to mark one as the current quest is great (a feature that Betheda's games had too).

And also on PS3. No idea what he's talking about.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

I got this and played through an origin story and then a little bit into the main story. It was intriguing and I want to keep playing, but I want to keep playing Borderlands more! And then Assassin's Creed II in a little over a week...

I have a feeling this one will be waiting till next year.

I am level 12...

Not sure what it is, but I just don't like how the game handles quests.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

I thought the origins part was supposed to last a few hours? I'm a human noble and I think mine was done in thirty minutes.

And whoever said the text is too small is right on. I could not even imagine trying to play this in standard def.

I think it depends on the origin. The Elf Magi one I did lasted for about 2 1/2 hours I think.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

I am enjoying the game I just completed one of the main quests, the broken circle. I can see this game having so many play throughs since the decisions you make definitely have ramifications. I do wish the
Spoiler:
shape shifting ability in the sloth part of the tower
carried over. That was sort of neat.

I do agree the text is small for the quests, sometimes when in the middle of a main quest I don't want to pause the action all the time to see wait changes in a side quest just happened by picking up a piece of loot (I figure it gives me things to do in a future playthrough).

My character is a dwarf noble DPS warrior, though I find myself playing as alistair a lot as my tank.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

This game is good...but man there have already been some TOUGH choices. It really has you pause for a LONG time on some of them. Just had to make one choice that might have been one of the hardest ever in a video game. BRAVO BIOWARE...they know how to do it.

Also, this game can get TOUGH!! I HATE HATE HATE how the enemies always zone in on your main character...no matter what!!! I am a wizard so that means I get my ass owned. I changed it so the other characters come to my aid when I am being attacked and that has helped. The fighting happens so fast, I have yet to get the hang of switching characters on the fly.

Then one thing happened that made my character bad-fuckin-ass instantly. I became an Arcane Warrior Mage. I don't really care about the spells it gave me, but you can now use your magic level instead of strength to use armor. My chick has the best armor class in the game now, and when they attack me I don't die in two hits (esp since I put ALL my points in will power and magic) HELL YEAH!

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

Do you find out later if Sten really killed the family? I didn't recruit him because he didn't give me a straight answer. I wasn't going to have a cold-blooded murderer in my party - and a very annoying one.

It'll be easy for me. I won't play MW2 unless some family members log on for MP. My stepdad isn't even getting it right away, but step-brother is. He'll be on it 25 hours a day

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

I have to say, this game is not at all what I expected. I hate that there is so much frikking talking and not enough action. I selected quickplay and really thought I'd be hacking and slashing in no time...sike! All I got to do was kill some rats with the dog. I'm glad you all are enjoying this but, it really is not my cup of tea.

As I said earlier this game is a little slow to start, a trait that I find in most BioWare games. There ARE moments of non stop fighting later in the game, I promise. This game is 80 hours, and I would guess that there is 4-8 hours of talking in that. The rest is going to be fighting. A game like this sets up the story, and then when the action hits it can overwhelm you...

Same complaints from most people on Mass Effect, and that game REALLY dragged the first 4 hours....

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

I don't know why anyone would pick a Bioware RPG and be disappointed in the "talking". I thought the story and choices WAS the point. Action is icing on the cake.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

This game is fun, but so time consuming. I just don't know how the battle toughness is determined, I will easily defeat a boss, but then get demolished by a random encounter.

Right now I am working on a romance with Leilana, it is funny when women offer me kisses as rewards, if I accept she gets pissed. Ha. Also Allaister had a random talk with her saying how she likes me and he would ask if I feel the same. Next play through I will definitely pick female to see how the interactions change.

Yeah, the talking and story is top notch. Bioware has done it again.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

During the beginning setup (and late game) can you stop at any time or do you have to get to certain points?
I normally only have 30 min to 1 hour to play games...
Life sucks sometimes.

You can save anywhere in this game (except in the middle of a battle or a conversation).

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

It's old news, but I don't recall seeing it discussed in this thread. Get a free in-game ring by creating a character in the character creator utility:

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

I just fought my first true High Dragon..not the little Drakes and stuff that you see early on. OH HELL that was one tough battle... Took FOREVER..but the ending kill animation was SWEET!!!

For anyone upset with the talking, let me just say I spent 4 hours in one long dungeon with maybe 5 minutes of talking in it. ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

PS3 version..
How do the various bonus item hold up?
Do you still use them later in game, or replace them early on?
I was going to get this 1st day, then I talked myself out of it. Now I'm thinking GotY edt. is too far off.

Also the online game that gives us stuff. Is that good for the PS3 or only PC?
thankz

I haven't had a chance to use the armor since you have to have 38 strength I believe. The rings are nothing special.

I don't think any of the bonus items would be worth spending money for.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

Heads up if you do end up not wanting to wait for an inevitable GOTY edition, the codes in the case for the free Shale character and blood dragon armor expire at the end of April. So if you don't want it by then you might as well wait the Shale DLC was priced 15 bucks. Shale is cool.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

I had hoped for Mass Effect-style conversations, especially since the character animations are so good... in contrast to it's Wii-quality enviroments - the exact opposite of Fallout 3.
