after going through ten pages at the official bioware site, it seems that there is a cap on enemy scaling. So a rat might be 1-3...troll 10-13...and so forth. I have still not read any official confirmation on this, but that thread has been there for months, and everyone seems to except this as so.

^^
Without seeming too dense....what does that mean exactly? I love the thought of exploring areas where you shouldn't go and absolutely getting your ass handed to you in one second by some horrible beast you have no chance to beat.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread
if you are level one, and you run into a troll...it will be level 10...if you are level 1-10...he will still be 10. If you are 11..he will be 11...if you are 13 he will be 13...but if you are level 14 or 30, or 50...he will never be higher then 13....so there will be areas that own your ass, and there will be areas later in the game that will be to easy...If this is true, and I have no reason to think it is not, this is perfect balance between those that don't want a narrow path on how they play, and those that like to level grind to make it easy and those that want to sneak into hard areas and use skill to make it out.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread
Do you think the extra items with the CE will be updated quickly in the game, or will we be using them for most of the game?
I'm thinking we will find better stuff fairly quickly, so I'm waiting to get the normal version from Amazon when ECA gets going again.

I look at it like this, if the soundtrack was on sale at wal-mart and I walked up, I don't think I would pay 5 bucks for it. I might pay 10 for the map, but it depends on how nice and big it was. These things do not make me want the Collectors edition, and the three items that are with the DLC...only the helmet seems to be useful. Do you really need a few extra skill points?
All the other dlc comes with both versions.

It's a trailer with no gameplay shown.
Am I missing something?

Kick-ass video, but since it's not gameplay footage I can't get too excited. Fortunately, everything else I've seen about this game does have me excited.

Leaning toward PC version simply for user created content. There was a LOAD of user created stuff for Oblivion and I seem to recall a lot for Baldur's Gate, although that was a while ago. Console would allow me to play on 73" screen though, and that would be really sweet... Tough choice.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread
The bottom line is the computer version will look better and probably control a little faster than the 360/ps3 versions, but as I said before, my computer would barely run it so in fact it would look worst on the computer for me. If I had a high end computer I would probably lean a bit toward the computer version, but then again I do love playing my 360 on my tv and the family can get more involved that way....

Retailer-exclusive Dragon Age pre-order bonuses revealed
"These days, it's not enough that retailers offer pre-order bonuses for upcoming video games. No, nowadays every retailer needs its own specific bonus just so everyone involved can feel more special. Such is the case for Dragon Age: Origins, so we decided to do a little digging and gather up the various bonuses that will be available from different retailers. All the retailers below -- apart from Amazon, for some reason -- are offering the Memory Ring in-game item, which adds 1 percent to XP growth and also bestows players with an additional skill point. Several retailers also have an exclusive in-game item, though Impulse is only offering the Memory Ring. The store-exclusive bonuses are:
* GameStop: Feral Wolf Charm - Gives bonuses to armor and health regeneration
* Amazon: Lion's Paw Boots - "Adds to armor, dodge, and evading missiles." Amazon is also offering a $10 gift card for pre-ordering the standard edition
* Steam: The Wicked Oath - A ring, adds 10% to critical strike damage, improves armor penetration by 2 and adds +1 to combat stamina regeneration
The bonuses apply to the Collector's and Digital Deluxe editions in most cases too, but be sure to check before placing any orders. We're trying to find out if Amazon will be offering the Memory Ring as well, and will update this post as soon as we find out."

QFT!!!
I remember first reading about Baldur's Gate and not being sure about the way the battles played out. For me, it was hard to think of D&D in real time, with a pause feature, and I was not sure if I would like it compared to turn based combat. Boy was I wrong, it is perfect. This is not the infinity engine, but it looks close enough...
When I watch these battles play out in Dragon Age, it just gets me even more excited.

Definitely. I am a huge D&D nerd and was also skeptical of playing D&D in pseudo real-time, but Baldur's Gate proved it could be done. Dragon Age, although not actually a D&D game, looks to be more of the same. To me, Dragon Age is what Neverwinter Nights should have been... Baldur's Gate in 3D.
