I don't think there has ever been a game more so than Mass Effect that starts out slow and scares a lot of people off, but ends up being a masterpiece. It really does not gel for many until 5-10 hours in. It ends up being one hell of a ride though. Best final stage in video game history...(not last boss, just that last stage)..

Yeah, I'm between 15 and 20 hours and it's still kinda tedious. But I'm also still into it.

I guess I was wondering if Bioware included some of the better aspects of KOTOR in Dragon Age.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

I'm probably 5 or 7 hours into it and I'm honestly not sure if I like it. Kind of put it down a week ago to play assassins creed 2 and GoW collection and don't know if i really want to touch it again.

Plus I just got Fallout 3 GOTY edition today. I could never get into F3, but I thought I would give it another chance since people say the expansions are amazing.

This game is a lot better than Mass Effect. The story is much more engaging, and there's a lot less boring dialogue to slosh through. As I said previously in this thread, it's the most engaging RPG I've played since KOTOR.

and I am on the other side of the fence in thinking Mass Effect is the better game. I still think Dragon Age is amazing, it's just that Mass Effect would be my favorite game of this generation if not for Fallout 3...

I had a similar opinion of Mass Effect too. It was a good game, and I liked the main story, but I didn't like the side quests and I thought the worlds were kind of boring.

I agree with Groucho, that Dragon Age is probably the most engaging RPG I've played in a long time.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

After last night, I'm glad I'm not a completest with these games...

Ash Quest Spoilers:
Spoiler:
I sided with the cultists during this mission and destroyed the ashes after taking enough to save the Arl. When I went back to the camp, Leliana questioned me about it. Telling her the truth probably wasn't the best of ideas. She quickly got very pissed and left the party. Seems like she's gone for good. Oh well, I got a good laugh out of it.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

Someone tell me i didn't miss out on a character... (relatively close to the beginning).

Spoiler:
I brought the kennel guy the flower/medicine he needed for that dog and he told me to come back in a couple days to see if the dog will imprint on me (after the battle). Well of course, after the battle everything is way over, city destroyed, and now i have Morrigan in my party. Did i lose out on having the dog in my party?

Thanks. I finally made it to that part and was ecstatic to see i didn't miss him.

So far the game is incredible. The decisions it is having me make are actually pretty tough. There was an early one with an overcharging merchant that actually had me think for a little bit. I have to give Bioware props for actually making little petty decisions not simple.

Spoiler:
Also, Morrigana must use magic to keep her shirt up. I think she will stay in my party though for that reason alone. Currently i have her, the dog, and some murderer i rescued from a cage. My character is a rogue.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

OK. This thread has convinced me to get this game! And the fact that it's 34.99+$30 in video game promotional credits on Amazon right now helps!

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

I caved and bought this today for $35 at Best Buy. Had a hard time deciding whether I wanted to buy a console version or the PC version which is supposed to be better. Ah well. Hoping to finish this before Mass Effect 2 in January.

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

Bought this for PS3 today for $29.99. Since the 3.01 firmware update is required to play this, I don't see myself playing this anytime soon. Hopefully SCEA will release a new firmware revision soon that is problem free.

Wow...your character is quite the horn dog.
Spoiler:

I was when I took Zevram to my tent. Promptly ran over to Morrigan and did the same!

I have had 0 problems with the new update and I play upwards of 20+ games during the week sometimes. This being one of them.

I sure would like to know. When did Sony release the 3.10 update anyway? I'm dying to get back onto the PSN store to claim the free Arkham Asylum Joker and MUA Juggernaut codes ...

Re: Official Dragon Age: Origins thread

3.10 has been great for me. Updated two different PS3s. It actually sped up my Uncharted 2 load times.

Not sure, but I updated last week sometime.
