I think Poker Smash is worth 400 as well, it's surprisingly fun. Defense Grid wasn't bad, but I passed on that for now. I dunno, it still screamed tower defense which makes me get bored by it awfully quick. All of these tower defense games just make me miss what I really want, a game called Warlords II Deluxe. It fits somewhere between Tower Defense and a RTS. Now that was an awesome game, too bad somebody can't port that to XBLA. One of the few PC games I remember fondly. |

Poker Smash, for me, wore out its welcome quickly back in aught-7 or 8 (whenever it was released). I've no doubt it's all on me as I just don't have the skill to see any hand ahead of time that isn't like-rank. I mean, I don't see flushes or straights or anything like that. Occasionally something like a full house will mess up what I'm setting up for a cascade/combo and I get frustrated.
I just never got ahold of it :( |

I enjoy it, but I feel the same way. I can pair up three cards, no sweat. Sometimes I can even plan out a full house. But straights, flushes, etc? I never get those except through dumb blind luck.

Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
I popped back on to Ticket to Ride last night for a quick game when i was baby free. and I noticed there's a new USA 1910 pack (probably not that new). Is anyone still playing this? I didn't head online to check, I just played the AI to remember how to play.
I bought the Europe pack, and totally forget the changes in that one. |
Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
I still play Ticket to Ride, but online is usually pretty dead. When you do find a game, no one ever plays anything but the standard mode. The European expansion was pretty bad. The 1920 is decent. If I remember right, it adds more destinations and bonuses to the North American map, and you get to choose from five cards at the start instead of three.
I'll play with you sometime if you want. I still need the achievements for 25 wins and for connecting all the Canadian cities. |
Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
That is the bad thing about older games that need online achievements. It took me 3-4 months to get the achievement for winning a puzzle quest battle online. First I could rarely find anyone on to play and then if I started winning they would drop. It took quite awhile this weekend to get the achievement for playing 10 games online of Hardwood Backgammon. Talk about an online ghost town.

Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
Definitely. I hate it when games have online multiplayer achievements. Unless the game is Halo, Gears, CoD, or a few others, it isn't going to last online.
I like the way Modern Warfare 1 and 2 does it: No online multiplayer achievements, but there are still in-game rewards for doing things in online multiplayer. |

Hulu Plus coming to Xbox 360 We are happy to announce that Hulu will be coming to Xbox LIVE as part of their Hulu Plus experience. In the announcement today, Hulu announced a preview of their Plus service, along with a series of partners of which Xbox LIVE is one of them. We’re working hard on creating customized experience for Xbox LIVE members, which means that Hulu Plus will be coming to Xbox 360 in early 2011. We are taking the time to ensure that the Hulu Plus experience for Xbox 360 is the best on TV, and like our other entertainment experiences, it will not be a port, but rather a custom experience that leverages the Xbox LIVE community features. Hulu Plus will be available for US Xbox LIVE Gold Members only. |

that's what xbox360achievements.org is for. Helps you find others to get those achievements.

TrueAchievements.com. Gaming Sessions, Boost Lists, etc. All way better than using x360a's clunky forum system.

Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
It's much more active and specific times are scheduled. People can be contacted through a game's boost list or even notified directly of a new session being created.
x360a's forum relies on people checking the forums and there's no incentive to not leave you hanging. That is, if you care about "feedback" which is what measures a players dependability. Have you signed up so you can fully see what the site does for you? I'm guessing not because http://www.trueachievements.com/TurdFerguson64.htm goes nowhere ;) Sign up THEN snoop around. |
Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
alrighty, I will try it out based on your recommendation.
Now back on topic, so to access HULU on xbox live, you need to subscribe to their service? There's no "regular" HULU access? |
Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
Cool. Now they'll scan your games and achievements and you'll be able to get much more detail on gaming sessions for "your" games and for achievements you don't have. In addition, you can more easily find people that have requested to boost specific games and sign up to boost for those games.
Start here for the current calendar of sessions: http://www.trueachievements.com/gamingsessions.aspx |
Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose
Hulu+ for $10 is too much for one person. It's more than NetFlix... However, if they allow simultaneous streaming to multiple devices, there's much more incentive to set up a family account. Ain't that right, brothers?

Indeed, though I don't want you guys knowing how much I watch Backyardigans.

I'm still riding strong on Sword & Poker 2 since it was on sale 6 (?) weeks ago, so I have my poker fill anyway. |

The game is the closest thing to Tetris Attacks I can get on the XBLA, which I was obsessed with on the SNES/GBA (as Pokemon)/DS (Planet Puzzle League), so that's why I love it. But yeah...it can be a bit goofy, especially trying to match stuff in the later levels and you've been playing for a LONG time. |
