So, I won KrissX from a Facebook group called "Xbox Games 4 Kids". It was a contest that ultimately had 13 entrants.

Win the XBLA game Kriss X, all you have to do is watch the video linked here. Then come back to this thread and leave a comment as to why you should receive the game. We will pick our favourite answer as the winner. Competition ends on the 15th Feb. You can also check out the review of Kriss X at http://www.xboxhornet.com
Normally, I hate subjective judging contests, but reading the few entries before mine, they were all selfish. While what I said is true, I knew that writing it this way (and having my kids in my profile pic) would surely work in my favor :)

I need this game for my kids more than anything. My 9 year-old is constantly stealing my iPhone to play my turns on Words with Friends. I had to buy her her own Scrabble set and Family Game Night to feed her addiction. They're great games for young kids to learn and have fun at the same time. KrissX will only add to the edutainment! (Yeah, I just used that word).

FWIW, there's no mention of it anywhere beyond Major Nelson's podcast. It's still 800 on the marketplace.

I'm seriously considering picking this up. Since Doom II is still MIA after it was announced last March at GDC, if I recall correctly, I'm feeling the need for a nice old school FPS fix.

I'd forgotten about the rewind feature. I might actually pick this up for the hell of it.

Hell, I've been bitching so long about there not being a single XBLA game I don't already own on sale; when one of those games finally gets put on sale, it would be pretty hypocritical of me if I didn't actually buy it now, right?

I played a ton of Duke Nukem 3D way back when, and I dl'd the demo and it was just as I remembered. However, I had also forgotten how much of a pain it was to go hunting an access card forever. I can no longer stand a game where I'm hunting around a level to get the next gadget to progress. I've been spoiled by modern games I guess, where they help you out to some extent, but you get so wrapped up in the story, etc that you don't realize that the game is helping you.

I recently played Batman to get every riddle, even after I was finished with the story (which is usually not like me), but it just felt so different than running around an empty level looking for the next access card...

I must say, the more I see of Scrap Metal, the less it seems to appeal to me. Rebate or not, I'm not sure I want to spend 1200 points on this game. The trailer makes it look dated, choppy and an inferior version of Calling All Cars, which wasn't that great a game in the first place. Maybe the demo will change my mind, but this might be a tough sell.

I tried Lazy Raiders and it's kind of cool. It's a platforming game where you rotate the environment instead of controlling the main character -- a game mechanic similar to the recent awesome Indie game Rotor'scope. I didn't buy it yet, but it's worth a look.

Loaded up all 3 to download this morning, won't get to try them till this evening. If I can get away from Heavy Rain long enough that is.

I'm hoping to crack open Heavy Rain tonight. I was curious to see how Fret Nice played. It's one of the few PSN games released with a demo, but since I don't have a PS3 guitar, I haven't been able to check it out until now.
Superfro, you MUST try and talk about Rotor'scope on your next podcast. It's really an awesome puzzle game, Indie game or not.

Yeah..we're really not into promoting Indie games. ;)

Will do! Thanks for the recommendation!

I guess my point was that it's an awesome puzzle game. It doesn't need a qualifier like "It's really impressive for an Indie game"; it's just an awesome game.

It's funny that here's this unique Indie puzzle game with a gameplay mechanic I've never seen before and it's involving, addictive and works really well, then not more than three weeks later, here comes a polished XBLA platform game that uses the exact same gameplay mechanic. Oh well.

If you are going to be our resident XBLA / Indie guy, you need to start posting links, especially for the Indie games. :)

I've got to say, this looks like one of the deepest and most professional Indie games out there. (Well, as professional as one can be while misspelling the word "Mystery"). It looks to have a presentation, um, heavily inspired by Prof. Layton. The puzzle mechanic is unique and looks to be pretty fun. I'll definitely checking this one out this weekend, despite the high-for-an-indie-game 400http://marketplace.xbox.com/xweb/lib...ints_12_12.png price tag.

Trial Game

This game is AMAZING. I'm stunned this isn't an XBLA game. I was playing the demo and my 9 year old daughter walked in and started watching. When that message came up that my time was up, she yelled out a stunned "This is an Indie Game????". It's that good. It has a very Professor Layton like presentation. It presents a mystery that you try to solve by exploring the rooms of the old mansion and solving LOTS of these puzzles. The puzzle mechanic is rotating or flipping the field and allowing the blocks to tumble until they line up together. It starts out easy, but there are plenty of variations that make it very challenging like magnet blocks that stick to metal blocks, electric blocks that set up chain reactions and block that swap colors with another and can really mess with your puzzle solving. It has that addictive, just-one-more-puzzle feel that I've had before with Puzzle Quest and Peggle. That's high praise, but this game is almost in that sort of league. Yeah, it's 400 points, which is a lot for an indie game, but this could just have easily been a 1200 point XBLA game in my opinion and would probably do well as a $20 NDS game if it were sold as one. It's a total winner. Please check out the demo.

Rotorscope was fun, but I have a hard time paying for even fun indie games when they are just knockoffs of free flash games.

I bought Rotorscope. Well worth 400 points. BTW, got my rebate for buying 3 EA titles today. So look for that if you took advantage in Dec and Jan.

I know a certain podcast that will be giving away a copy of Lazy Raiders in the next week or two. So if you feel lucky maybe you should wait just in case. (Although from the looks of it pinata will just win it anyway.)

Has anyone tried Greed Corp yet? I haven't as of yet, but the review in IGN was good as was XBLA in Brief. It looks like a deep fun game, especially if the MP aspect takes off (which I wouldn't expect for a niche title). Any impressions of this one?
