I didn't notice any real improvements in the control scheme for my stuff :(

Tried the games this week and they do nothing for me. Even Gyruss. I guess since I never played it, I'm not really excited for it. FWIW, the controls seem to 'stick" when you get to the mid-point of the screen (vertically). I mean, if you hold left, you'll stop half way up the screen unless you start pushing up. Maybe that's normal and how it always handled, but for a while I thought that's as far as I could go even though I knew better.

No, you're thinking of the arcade game. The INTV game was subtitled Treasure of Tarmin.

Most likely Tower of Doom

I should try Gyruss, even though I own the XBLA version. The XBLA version was a shitty emulation, hopefully this one is accurate.

Playing a game in Ranked mode is much cooler now. On the left you have your overall best leaderboard position. On the right is a stack of "milestone" scores in sort of a ladder that you move up during your play. It maxes out at 1,000 positions. Very cool update! Would be nice if you could filter that to just friends ;)

Might as well, they give you 10 minutes to try it out.

Oh, and there's a new Pirate Theme today for free. It's actually pretty cool and the best one they've done, but I won't spoil it.

 whatever was I thinking for a good arcade game to be in Game Room. :D

Treasure of Tarmin isn't too bad though and makes more sense given Game Room's pedigree so far. But I can't help and wish it was the '93 arcade game. *sigh*

I wonder if Decathlon still has the glitch where if you hold the button while running you max out your speed.

I'm right there with you, but let's be honest. We don't want that restricted to Game Room. It needs to be an XBLA release. Even coupled with something else like Final Fight & Magic Sword were.

Key words here.

I played the hell out of Gyruss back in the day. Gyruss, Joust and Miner49er were my games. It's been 25 years, but now that you mention it, I think the controls did stick at points.

Very true, I certainly agree with you there. The easy combination would be Tower of Doom and Shadow over Mystara like the Saturn compilation. That sucker still goes for $80-$100 on Ebay. I look at it here and there but I can never rationalize the price.

It's pretty funny to me that after 4 months my Astrosmash high score which was #1 at launch has only fallen to #23 overall. I'm just outside of the top 20 and may try again ;)

Such a simple feature actually breathes new life into it.

It's probably because Intellivision games are crap.

OH SNAP!

I actually never had an Intellivision, so I don't really have a valid opinion on it outside of the videos I've seen of the games. I think my uncle had one. Was Microsurgeon an Intellivision game? I remember loving that weird little game.

Yeah, it was. Imagic made it (who coincidentally made the best INTV games). Sadly none of their titles are in GR yet, but I hear Activision bought the rights some time ago and they've been on other compilations lately.

Is this sale just for Gold members? It's showing up as 800 points for me. I was pretty pumped to jump on Cartman's version of "Poker Face" for Rock Band for 80 points, but that's showing up at full price, too.

I can't think of any sale that's been offered to Sliver members. It's one of the perks that the $2.50-$3/month allows.

Thanks. That explains it. I occasionally toy with the idea of upgrading, but even when I find a deal for $30/year it seems like a waste since I'm not into online gaming. I use Facebook, Twitter, and last.fm on my laptop, so having access to them on my Xbox is a bit redundant. Maybe one day when I resubscribe to Netflix I'll get a gold membership.

It takes a lot to make pinata's bragging about winning Gyromancer seem humble, but you just did it.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm trying to get more codes to dish out.

I can. There was a big sale about two weeks ago with week-long discount on about 12 games that was for all members. I bought Banjo Tooie during that sale. All the Deal of the Week deals are for Gold members only.
