I've never even heard of Rocket Knight Adventures, but those screenshots do look pretty cool, albeit pretty similar to Small Arms.

Oh shit. Day one.
Well, if it plays well. The other hack and slash on XBLA was REALLY weak.
Also, I think the Poker Smash guys are making one too (unless that's it).
The trailer is really funny too.

That was a funny trailer. I agree that Arkadian Warriors was pretty weak and repetitive, though in short bursts it was playable. Of course there's another hack & slash called Castle Crashers that turned out okay, iirc.

IGN has XBLA reviews up for both
South Park : 7.0
&
Lucidity : 6.3
Neither sounds very good. It looks like that super-boring Lucidty gameplay video was actually very representative of the actual game experience. Probably a pass X 2, but I'll check out the demos in the morning just to make sure.

As a huge Tower Defense fan, I was pretty psyched about South Park, however after playing it, I couldn't drop the 800 points on it. It was fun, even in single player, but it seemed really short. Comparing the amount of content to Defense Grid and it just looks pathetic. Judging by the length of the first 3 levels (out of 11), it couldn't take more than 2 hours to beat. It is also very slow to unlock towers, even at the third level you only have 2 towers that can be upgraded once each.
The only way I would buy it is if they cut the price by 50%.

I haven't tried SP yet, but the only reason I didn't buy Defense Grid was because this was coming. Though now I'm in no hurry to buy Defense Grid either. I can wait for a DotW for either of those games.
Anyone try Lucidity yet?

Good to see MS is sticking to their guns with the XBLA size limits.

From 9/24: http://uk.xboxlive.ign.com/articles/102/1028055p1.html
At the advent of the Xbox Live Arcade, Microsoft imposed strict rules regarding how big game downloads could be. If a publisher's game exceeded 50 MB of data, it couldn't be put up for sale. Later, that size limit was lifted to 150 MB. As you may have noticed, that restriction no longer exists. Shadow Complex was nearly 1GB in size while the recently released C&C 3 Commander's Challenge pack clocked in at 2GB. Have all restrictions been thrown out of the window?
The answer is more or less.
In a meeting with Microsoft's Scott Austin, director of digital games, IGN was told that 2GB is the limit now, but that isn't due to any restrictions imposed by Microsoft. The 2GB limit is a technical limitation of the system being used. Games on Demand, a section of the Xbox Live Marketplace where you can buy full retail games to download, uses a different file structure and so that limitation does not exist.

If a consumer survey sent over to us by a tipster is to be believed, Microsoft is looking to bring a virtual Avatar arcade to the Xbox 360. Some of the potential names listed in the survey are "Game Room," "RetroCade," "Tower of ROM," and "Classics LIVE." Yeah, we're partial to "Tower of ROM" also.
If the proposed service sounds familiar, that's because it's nearly identical to PlayStation Home's arcade spaces – like Namco's virtual arcade – just replace the dead-eyed dopplegangers of Home with the scrunchable avatars of Xbox 360. The second survey question sent to us asks, "Which of the following names would most compel you to purchase the product?" indicating that the "Tower of ROM" might not be a free space but could instead have a fee associated with it.
While the survey doesn't give us much more to go on (besides a sinking feeling that we're not interested), we thought we'd ask you, Joystiq Biomass, to weigh in on the product's name. Let the fat cats in Redmond know what you think!

I actually tried the Playstation Home version of this. First problem: only one person could play a game at a time. Second problem: you had to have the retail version of the game installed to play most of the games! Some only required the trial, but still you had to have a second installation just to get the Home area to work. It was completely ridiculous.

Im sure MS is drooling over the potential to charge us a points equivalent of 'arcade tokens' to play the newest demos and retro hits.

I think there's a lot of speculation here without any sort of precedent on the XBLA. I think there's only one thing we can count on for sure and that's this won't be available to Iowans.
