Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th

It's finally here! BF1943 will be releasing as a downloadable title on XBL and PSN next week.

Honestly, I think it would have been a wiser move to release this weekend fitting in with the July 4th holiday weekend. The game should be a blast to play. I spent countless hours on the Iwo Jima map with BF 1942. Hopefully, the game will be a big success and EA will release more maps.

Is anyone still playing BF 1942 out there?

Can't wait for this one, hopefully it doesn't suck and holds me over til Madden/Batman come out in August.

Finally an official date, I've been looking forward to this one for awhile! Hopefully it's not too "dumbed" down

Here is a video from 1up Game Night. It looks pretty cool.

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th

OXM gave it a 7.5 -- not great, but their biggest complaint is that it's Live-only playable, no bots, no system link. If you can get over that (and most of us can), then it looks pretty good.

Not sure if this was mentioned in the other BF 1943 thread, but that fourth map, Coral Sea, is opened after 43,000,000 community kills. It'll be fun to see how quickly that happens. Neat to see it's an all-air battle map. Should be pretty fun.

I can't see this replacing Warhawk for my online time...but it does look interesting.

No bots? Come on. How hard would that have been? I loved having me and two buddies fight against 60 bots.

Lack of iron sights kills me. I don't think I can play another FPS ever again without them.

I'm all over it. Can't tell you how many hours I played the original BF1942 (in a clan, played on sniper only servers for fun, bought a joystick just for the planes). I'm there.

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th

Right now the game is unplayable due to the extreme lag. Hopefully that's only due to everybody downloading it at the same time.

Edit: Just played a match and the lag is gone!

Does it have any single-player campaigns?

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th

I downloaded the demo and played the tutorial (by the way not the best idea to hide the tutorial) and it seemed cool but couldn't get an actual game going I am assuming it's because everyone bought the full version.

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th

I've never played any of the Battlefield games but COD:WAW multiplayer is starting to get a bit boring and this looks to be similar but much more frenzied. Is that a fairly accurate assessment?

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th

I guess they realized that the full game is about equal to a trial game. The trial has a 30 minute limit. Once your time runs out you can't play the trial anymore even if you exit out and start over.

I wasn't even going to give the trial a run-through. This seems like an easy purchase for me. No reason to NOT get it, is there?

I bought it without trying the demo or playing any of the previous BF's and i don't regret my purchase. It's a fun game.

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th

I enjoyed the 1up video, and this looks pretty cool. I like the destructible environments, and some of the game modes look fun. I kind of want to check it out.

Still, I can't shake the feeling that everything this game does, Warhawk does better...unless you are really committed to FPS controls (even in vehicles).

Well, I can't see anything but the Searching For Games screen over and over. I guess since it's online only and everyone is trying out the demo, the servers are totally slammed. I'd like to see the game in action dammit!
