Well, you know it'll get fixed and the traffic of "lookie-loos" who are only trying it out for free will be gone in a couple of days once they've all used their 30 minutes up. Still, I'm not buying this game until it's playable.

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th

I was able to play it for a while early this morning and it was perfect. I got most of the achievements already. However when I went to try it after dinner, I couldn't get in a game. There was a message about the severs being maxed out and they are currently adding more to fix it.

Play a couple rounds tonight. Took a long time to get through. The servers must be slammed.

Fun game. This will probably be the best $15 I spend all summer. I never expected to see games like this on XBL Arcade. Hope we get more in the future.

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th

After the East Coast folks went to bed, I was able to fire up a few rounds. It is great, just as anticipated. My favorite LIVE game on the Xbox was SW Battlefront II, and this plays very similarly. It's simple and fun without being too stressful (a' la Halo 3). Not that I really needed to try it out, but I bought it after my free 30 minutes because I couldn't find an "Unlock Full Game" option before that point. And a big to EA for not kicking you out mid-skirmish just because your 30 minutes were up.

I'm really curious to see what the purchase numbers look like on 360voice.com tomorrow. I anticipate it will be the highest XBLA first-day number since SSF II HD Turbo hit last November (2782). The only thing that might hurt its first-day sales numbers might be how hard it was to find a game during the prime gaming time tonight. That almost kept me from buying it today.

I'm guessing 4760-5210 on first day sales. The leader boards are already insane, with people in the 1000+ kill range.

You're probably right. I really have a hard time thinking that anyone who has Live and likes playing FPS games online wouldn't give that demo a try and conclude it's easily worth a purchase at 1200 points. It may not have a lot of depth or a single-player mode, but it's SOLID.

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th

Played a couple rounds last night and loved it. Brought back a lot of memories from my 1942 days. Didn't mess around too much with the three classes but they seemed balanced enough and the regenerating health seems to be ok too; its not too fast or too slow.

Is 1942 still active online? I still have the game, but havent played it in years. I'm bummed that that this game doesn't feature any Nazis maps. I enjoyed killing Nazis in the original. I got pretty good as a sniper.

I thought the demo was pretty fun. I was able to get into one good game, 1 disconnect, and then at that point I could not get back in. I will wait to see how the servers are for both the PS3/360. I know the PS3 you should be able to GameShare, so that is always the cheap route.

This is a lot of fun but man do I suck at this game . We might have to get a gamenight going for this so I don't feel quite as bad. I really like how the incorporated the vehicles.

Yeah I suck big time myself. I was in a tank and couldn't get a straight shoot off to save my life. Still it's lots of fun.

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th

The trial was glitched last night, and I got about 90 minutes of play in (played a round today and have 6 mins left) before quitting. Very fun times. I like that it appears they disabled team killing, so now people can actually fly planes (unlike BF1942) and the destructible environments are a nice touch.

Actually, it was 5895. A huge hit -- bigger than Castle Crashers (5073) or Geometry Wars 2 (4273). I wonder how many more copies it would have sold if the online servers could have handled all potential players...

This. I had no idea what I was doing but was having a blast doing it.

My problem is I'm pretty tied up with Red Faction for mutliplayer at the moment, and I don't like playing with random folks usually, so it'll probably depend on a bunch of friends getting the game for me to pull the purchase trigger. It is a great game from what I experienced though.

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th

Superfro I was just thinking that this game would be real good for a signed in event. I played for about an hour this morning and am getting better (usually middle of the pack) and it is just fun. It is so satisfying to take out a tank with a rocket or another tank. The way the maps are make it much more fun and realistic to take guys out with a sniper shot. It feels real natural the hiding places that you can use and the distance you can get a guy.

Yeah..I was going sniper all the way. It was pretty awesome jut laying in the grass and picking dudes off. I agree about the event thing. Maybe we can make it happen down the road.

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th

After a few trys I got into a game and stayed with it for almost 2 hours. Lots of fun. Having limited weapon sets and secondary weapons to do extensive damage to vehicles balances everything out perfectly and for the first time in a while I had fun playing online with strangers. Well worth my $15

I got this on the PS3 last night (GameShare is great) and I had a lot of fun. Probably put 2 hours into it without even thinking. I suck, but it appears most of the people on there didn't even care about capturing the flag points. Still, a lot of fun. No lag at all on the PS3 (I'm sure they sold less compared to the 360)

Oh yeah that is real cool and the suit does actually help if you are in the right cover. The best part this morning was this guy was camped at our lone spawn spot (somehow we all ended up at the same flag) and kept picking us off whenever we poked or head out. I was able to sneak around him while he was aiming at my teammates and seemed to be getting real cocky instead of switching weapons and shooting him I decided to be a dick and stand right behind for like a minute and then when he turned around I stabbed him. Not knowing your enemies are close by makes this game harder then some other games with radar.

It won't take too long for that Coral Sea map to unlock. 360 is already up to 3.2 Million kills and the PS3 is up to 2 Million kills.

Wow, that is REALLY fast. Only started counting this morning. The game is such a huge hit, it's going to make other publishers sit up and take notice. You put that sort of quality and content into a downloadable game and charge $15 for it and you're printing money after that.

BTW: The game had a second-day spike on 360voice.com that I think is unprecedented for an XBLA game. With the biggest hits, you might see a slight increase over the first couple of days (like Braid did) as buzz builds. You don't ever see 1000 more people playing on Thursday than played on Wednesday, but that's what happened. The total rose to a Bill & Ted-worthy 6969. Part of that was probably people finally getting into the servers and buying it after their trial. Either way, that is one big hit they've got there.

No kidding. Since I posted (about 5 hours ago) the numbers have jumped to:

360 = 5.48 Million Kills
PS3 = 3.01 Million Kills

There's more people playing on the 360. And you can get MS Points cheap on eBay. Buy a 4000 Point card for $30, and the game only costs $9.

But I guess it really depends on who you want to play with. I bought it on the 360, because that's where my friends are.
