OR, you can GameShare on the PS3 if you have someone you trust (unless we should not talk about that, but I believe Sony states it can be downloaded to 5 different PS3's).
I prefer the 360 controller, but got it for the PS3.

When you GS, you can't have the same account online twice. That might be a problem for an online-only game like this, esp if the same purchase is shared five times.

Servers must be swamped again. Had lots of trouble connecting to the servers this morning. Two games froze and I had to reboot the console.

360 = 11.70M
PS3 = 6.99M
Just imagine how many kills it would be if the servers were working appropriately.

Yeah I ran in to some crippling lag a couple hours ago so I quit for a bit. I was thinking they should do a contest for whoever gets the kill.

BTW: The game had a second-day spike on 360voice.com that I think is unprecedented for an XBLA game. With the biggest hits, you might see a slight increase over the first couple of days (like Braid did) as buzz builds. You don't ever see 1000 more people playing on Thursday than played on Wednesday, but that's what happened. The total rose to a Bill & Ted-worthy 6969. Part of that was probably people finally getting into the servers and buying it after their trial. Either way, that is one big hit they've got there.

They probably should have made it 194.3 Million Kills.
360 = 19.25 Million Kills
PS3 = 10.99 Million Kills

360 is over halfway to the new map. PS3 is almost 30% of the way.
360 = 21.86 Million Kills
PS3 = 12.35 Million Kills

Man, it is so easy to lose yourself for hours in this game. I played BF 1942 a bit back when it came out, but I still can't get enough of this. I suck pretty badly, too. I'm having some trouble dropping bombs while flying planes. I really can't tell if I am supposed to lead the bombs into the target a bit or just drop when I am right overhead.

Started pretty rough today but a few hours in and I was usually near the top of the leaderboards. Gotta relearn planes, but my old anti-tank tricks came back big-time. And my AA skills came back too.
Little pro-tip for those that haven't played much of the BF series - tanks are weaker in the rear. So anti-tank soldiers should always try to get behind the vehicle, and tank drivers should try to speed past another tank and shoot it in the ass as you pass by. You can take more hits in the front of your tank then they can take in the rear of theirs.

This game has been a mix of fun and frustration. I think I've had more games end up frozen/disconnected than full games. They really need to get this fixed.

I finally got to play the trial tonight and it gave me about 70 minutes. I finished 2nd a couple times and had a blast doing it. I wasn't sure if I could switch maps, but I had the same one for the entire time. I think this may be a purchase, but as stated before, you can really lose some time in this game.

No, it doesn't work like that. It's the cumulative total, so we should have it by Tuesday if not before.

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th
I just can't get into multiplayer on consoles. I really enjoyed BF1942 on PCs, and got pretty good at sniping, but after an hour of playing BF1943, I could not score one single kill. I would unload entire clips, throw grenades, and still the damn game would not register me a kill. I can barely last 20 seconds before getting shot. Same reason I hated Warhawk. Just not fun IMO.

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th
I finally had time to play this for longer than a few minutes yesterday and had a blast. It froze up once but other than that there were no issues save for a few seconds of serious lag in one game. I like how easy it is to pop into a game and how almost comically frenzied the action is. I spent one game manning the big guns and blowing the tops off of trees while watching jeeps madly careening into each other on the road below. The only aspect I haven't liked so far is the planes. As a longtime flight sim fan and occasional pilot I just can't get used to those wacky arcade-style flight controls.
All in all it's a fun time-waster and I've already gotten my 12 bucks worth out of it.

Re: Battlefield 1943 - Official Release Date - July 8th
I played the demo for a bit on Saturday, and it was pleasant enough.
Things I liked:
- It sounds trite, but there's just something about destructable trees...
- FPS controls were spot on, except I kept trying to use the sites on the rocket launcher
- Variety of terrain
- I like the idea of regenerating ammo/grenades
Not so much:
- I could be wrong, but the map didn't feel symmetrical (Americans seemed to have advantage)
- First person driving is garbage
- Flying is garbage
- Typical FPS "it takes me 3 tries to climb a ladder" crap
- The cardinal sin is me dying and not knowing who/what killed me
On PS3, it's tough not to compare this to Warhawk, and in Warhawk, I can actually drive the vehicles (partly because the gas/brake are in the right place, but also because they simply control better). And compared to 1943, my Warhawk dude is an absolute gymnast in terms of jumping and climbing. I also like the weapon variety better in Warhawk.
Overall, kind of cool and a good value for the price, but an absolute non-purchase for me.

Coral Sea should be unlocked in the next day or two on the 360. PS3 will probably take another week.
