Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
I cannot tell you guys how HAPPY I am to see Kings of Leon make it to Rock Band! (And they beat Guitar Hero to the punch, too!)
"Sex on Fire" is a 2008 musical highlight for me. I have a tiny bit of disappointment not seeing "Use Somebody" on that list, but that's me being greedy. Can't wait until Tuesday! |

Crawl? Wtf?

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
A few HMX folks have tweeted about today being a big day for HMX and we'll find out later. Mystery!

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
Cool stuff, KoL along with my favorite song to play on drums in GH:WT (Re-education through labor, easy on drums but fun no less) plus one other Rise Against songs I actually like and some Rancid = win.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
We're getting ready to see a lot more DLC (hopefully)!
http://www.rockband.com/rock-band-network The Rock Band music catalog is about to get a lot bigger. We′re making a set of professional authoring tools available to bands, studios, and record labels everywhere in order to build a diverse and growing library of music that's sure to satisfy the tastes of hardcore gamers and casual fans alike. Every day, new tracks will become available* from top indie artists, newcomers, classic acts, and upstarts from the far reaches of the rock universe. How It Will Work 1. A community of bands, recording engineers, game developers, and record labels create, review, and publish songs using the same tools we use to create Rock Band game tracks. 2. Rock Band fans browse an ever-growing catalog of songs from every imaginable genre. Players can demo any song for free, and it′s easier than ever to find exactly what you want in the new store. EDIT: I lol'd at this! ∗ For the Xbox 360 * Select songs may also appear on PS3 |
Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
I'm kind of scared seeing what charts from non-Harmonix people will look like. I remember hearing them talk about this a very, very long time ago, so it is cool to finally see it is becoming a reality.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
$99 a year to join and have access to all songs available to download directly to your 360 means I'm in for sure.
|
Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
Yeah, I thought the big contention between GH & RB was the charting. This sounds like a professional version of GHTunes. Sounds cool in theory but could be a complete disaster.
As for this weeks announcement, I've never heard Kings of Leon but judging from the reaction here I should check them out. |

Do you think you have what it takes to create top-notch downloadable content for Rock Band? Try the professional authoring tools for free or sign up for a premium membership ($99/yr) to get started—Beta starts soon! In fact check here: http://creators.rockband.com/docs/Main_Page They mention you need to be a Creators Club XNA member to publish songs. So that is where the $99 a year is coming from. |

I don't think it means that.
Sounds like to me, you can try the tools for free. If you want to actually sell stuff, you need to pay $99 a year for that. When you upload your song to the Creators site, it will be immediately available for any other Creator with a Premium Account* to download and audition. Your peers will post valuable, detailed feedback on your song. Once you and your peers agree that your song is ready for primetime, you’ll submit it for peer review. Once it passes peer review, your song is released into the world. Also, I've got access to the XNA Creators Club already, so maybe I can circumvent that $99 a year thing. Woohoo! |

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
Huge YAY! for Rancid....
Mild YAY! for Rise Against....the girlfriend loves them Meh YAY! for KoL...highly over-rated and Sex on Fire is garbage...but it's better than most weeks :) |
Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
This will go hand in hand with the renaming of the Community Game section to Indie Games. This has some interesting possibilities.
|
Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
While I love this idea and the thought of getting more music in Rock Band, isn't there an obvious pitfall in the fact that bands aren't all exactly game programmers?
|
Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
The bands won't be doing the programming (necessarily). They'll work with Harmonix-trained community teammembers.
The long article I posted above goes into a great amount of detail on the whole idea. |
