no need for a fake skateboard to go with my fake drums, fake guitars and fake turntable.

It might get me to start playing those games again.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

Guess it was what everyone figured, with a skateboard peripheral.

I'm curious at how it will work. Playing a fake guitar was pretty easy, but paying $70-$100 for a skateboard peripheral is a harder pill to swallow. It's going to suck if this generation is all about more and more addons and peripherals.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

This strikes me as a terrible idea. The Tony Hawk series got too unrealistic and gimmicky, and their solution is another peripheral? I don't think a ton of people will be clamoring to spend $90 for another big bulky piece of plastic, especially since it is not white and made by Nintendo.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

I wonder how it will control. The Wii skateboarding game that used the balance board controlled horribly.

Ouch if true. Can't see how very many people will put down $120 on this. $90 for a Guitar is hard enough.

I wouldn't buy this if the board was free personally. Maybe I will end up being surprised, but this just seems like a terrible idea for a game. If it really is $120 I wouldn't worry because it will be $20 with the board by January when none of these sell.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

Well the fake board came out first in the form of a snowboard; there was a namco arcade game but it was more of a racing game than trick-oriented.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

The last Hawk game I played and enjoyed was THPS3. Since then, every game has been lackluster and trying to hard to be fresh.

I can barely get those snowboarding games down at the arcades. There's no way I'd plunk the change down for this.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

It's funny because for that price you can get a real quality skateboard.

Having skated for years in real life I doubt I would find this fun and/or even remotely realistic.

Seriously, rocking back and forth on a $120 peripheral in your living room to control a skating game with far less precision than the 360 controller provided in "Skate" doesn't sound like a good idea to you?

The evils of the Wii strike the gaming world again.

Any one interested in this game : One word of advise : WAIT. Every Activision game this generation not named "Call Of Duty" has dropped like a stone in price. This shouldn't be an exception.

I can see this being huge throughout the holidays for the youngsters.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

Bump because this game comes out today.

I have no interest in the game, other than seeing how well (or poorly) received/reviewed it is.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

Despite the fact that I just bought Modern Warfare 2, I really can't help but wish anything but failure on Activision under its current leadership. There don't seem to be any reviews on Ride yet, but the hands-on previews I've seen have been less than enthusiastic. Hopefully this bombs big time and cost them a fortune in r&d.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

This thing will be a crash and burn of epic proportions. I look forward to picking it up for $20 in January.

Amazingly, there are STILL no reviews up even though it's being sold in stores. I wonder if nobody even got a copy early for review. The IGN preview described the game, kindly as they could, as "unintuitive". I love the look and build of the peripheral, but if it's near impossible to play as a game, why bother?

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

What makes the board different than Wii fit? Does it have additional sensors if you tip the front of back of the board? I bought a Wii fit and played with it for 5 minutes, it sucks. I see this board as being the same kind of gimmick.

It's definitely more advanced than the Wii Fit board, which only measures slight shifts in weight. It also looks to be much harder to use correctly. Check out this video for an idea, but don't believe the caption -- it's NOT a review.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

I hope this is a huge success I doubt it will be given the price though, and the peripheral would have to be near perfect for it to catch on which doesn't sound like the case either.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

I don't think rave reviews would help this game. I think the only way for it to be a big success would be if 10-18 year old boys decide this game is their must-have Christmas item. If all those kids really want their parents to get them this game, it could be a huge hit. I just don't see the older gamers going for this pricey, difficult game in large numbers. It just isn't an all-family, casual-gamer-friendly item the way the Wii Fit was.
