First sets of DLC announced:

DJ Hero is out on Friday and the first set of DLC has being announced by Activison.

From day one, you'll be able to buy the Extended Mix Pack 1 which includes remixes/songs from 'All of Me' by 50 Cent with Mary J. Blige vs. 'Radio Ga Ga' by Queen.

The other song is 'DARE' by Gorrillaz vs. 'Can't Trust It' by Public Enemy.

That'll cost you a rather expensive 480 MS Points ($6).

On the 24th November you can download the David Guetta Mix pack which includes remixes of 'When Love Takes Over', 'Sexy Bitch' and 'On The Dance Floor', which are popular club choices at the moment.

But wait for it, those will cost you a staggering 640 MS Points ($8) for just three songs. We almost find Lips content prices half reasonable now.

Guess I won't be buying any DLC for this game.

One 'song' in this case has two sets of songs, which would double the licensing costs.

Haven't played the game yet myself but if it's mashups that is also an additional layer of creative production work beyond transcribing and charting. It's quite a fun job though, for sure.

I think we all appreciate the work that goes into it. I don't see them selling well at all.

But if you do, this is really the best you could ask for.

I've played a ton of songs thus far and have only run into one that I didn't like at all. The DJ Jazzy Jeff and Daft Punk sets have definitely been my favorites thus far. There's really some great tracks in the game if you dig mashups/remixes.

QFT. this game is a blast. I knew I'd like it, but it's exceeded my expectations. The Jazzy Jeff set is by far my favorite, a given since it includes "Rock the Bells"

Yeah. Most consumers just care about the bottom line. We're accustomed to the $2 price point for a downloadable song. Besides, there are so many mixes in the game that I can't imagine buying extra ones for a long time.

They should have put in a mode where you get to play the songs separately, then they could list two individual songs plus the mashup version and people could feel like they were getting three songs instead of one.

I'd say that I'm in the same boat, but then I see one of the mixes included is Gorrillaz' "Dare", and honestly I don't see any way that isn't going to get purchased. And so it begins....

Although...I will say I won't be buying it without sampling it first, and at this point there isn't even a storefront of any sort for DJ Hero in game. So I'm not sure how that's going to work. In fact if I had to point out any issue with the game thus far it would be the online component. Playing a private match with a friend shouldn't kick you out and make you start the process over again by sending another invite once you finish the set. Really annoying. Also, in a private match, why do I only get 60 seconds to make a setist? Every track has like a billion titles and artists to read through. I don't even get halfway down the list and I have to start the set. Also annoying.

Not the best quality, but here's some video of the DLC for those interested. I love the Gorillaz one, so I'm sure I'll have to buy the damn thing. :(

The Gorillaz one sounds okay, but it's still not something I'd pay $3 to play (technically $6 since it doesn't look like you can buy either mix on its own, just the setlist as a whole).

I was checking up on this thread and videos elsewhere, and my wife said "Yeah, we're going to need to buy that." It's pretty bad and costly not to have a grounding factor in my music game purchases.

Re: The Official DJ Hero Thread of BPMs, Faders and Scratches

I dont feel bad dropppig coin on these types of games. (Music based/rhythm) I literally only play these games and sports games so Ill buy about 3 to 4 games all year. No action games, role playing, FPS, nothing. Just Music?rhythm based and sports. Even when I occasionally purchase one in another genre my sister ribs on me knowing I wont finish it. The last game I bought not in those genres is Halo 3 and that was primarily because my girlfriend at the time loved Halo and didnt have a 360. The last game in another genre that I finished was Star Wars KOTOR 1 for the XBOX!!

Each year my purchases go:
NBA 2k
Madden
Rockband's latest (usually without new instruments sans a new drumset and I didnt buy the Beatles)
Guitar Hero's newest is always a maybe
The newest baseball game maybe
Hockey, golf, tennis every blue moon

Not to mention I have a big group of people who love to play Rockband with me regularly (around 20 or more) and many of us are excited for DJ Hero.In other words, Im justifying this 120 bucks thats coming out of my pocket Saturday!! :D

 my wife rolled her eyes and said "that looks like a big waste of money. I hope you are planning on getting it out of the family room and moving it to your 360 in the basement"

I'm getting a review copy of this. Hopefully it's more fun at home than it was at the in-store demo.

Is there any game you've ever played at an in-store demo that was better than playing it at home?

But more importantly, do you enjoy the remix/mashup style of music?

Yes! Then I can play it with my Rock Band drums (what?)!

I do enjoy the music. That's not the problem, especially if Daft Punk is involved. My problem was with the controller, which I found terribly vexing to use. I'm guessing going through the game properly will allow me to acclimate better.

Love this game so much. <3<3<3 Haha I think this *might* be my first ever post in this entire forum? (if not, maybe something in a Rockband thread)

My PS3 has 5 games: Rockband, Rockband 2, Beatles Rockband, DJ Hero, and Fallout3. That last one was a Christmas gift. :D

DJ Hero is my favorite, so far...the only downside I see at this moment is the inability to include more people into the game (with the exception of the small DJ + Guitar tracks).

Not a big fan of the Killers vs Rihanna song, but the rest of the tracks overall are outstanding. And That Daft Punk Megamix (1 & 2) is amazing.

For sure sir! I'd gotten really comfortable with it even just in the first night. I'm still working my way through mostly on Medium, as I don't want to jump in over my head, but it's definitely going much better every time I play.

And if you like Daft Punk then you'll love it no question. Their stuff in the game is amazing.

Re: The Official DJ Hero Thread of BPMs, Faders and Scratches

OK, I've been trying it out. It's got a lot of depth. There's a lot more to it than playing the guitar or drums in Rock Band or Guitar Hero. That being said, I think the amount of knobs and buttons it has is actually its one downside. Half the time I find myself accidentally hitting the crossfader while twisting the balance knob or some other slip of the hand. And the fact that you can't initiate eurphoria with a motion like you can initiate overdrive in RB with the guitar is vexing as well. Also doing the rewind almost always results in me losing my multiplier.

It's fun, though. And I'm liking a lot of the mixes. Only playing it on medium for now.

I had a similar experience at BB today. Now I'm looking for a deal on the Renegade Edition. ;)
