Prototype (Activision, Radical Entertainment) - June 9th

I'm still not done with this game. I thought I was near the end but I still have 10 missions left! The hunter bosses get hard and at first they seem impossible but you learn how to beat them. Fun game. I played it a lot, then played Ghostbusters for a little bit, then back to this.

I almost took this game out of the XBox never to play again. I beat what I would consider the hardest mission in the game,
. During the cutscene, it froze. When I turned it back on, it hadn't registered that I had beat the mission.
I listed it on eBay right there and went back through and beat the mission again, this time skipping the cutscene, and it registered. A few missions later, I beat the game. The last boss battle was pretty cool - very fun.
It is now on eBay though. I went through messing around after I was finished, and the side missions aren't enough to keep this game on my shelf. It was very fun while it lasted though.

Is there anyway to power up the amount of damage you can take in a tank? I'm on one of the 'use the tank to kill as many dudes as you can in x minutes' side missions and I can get enough kills for the medals, but my tank keeps getting blown up before time runs out, so I fail. I've done a couple other of these missions and this is the first one that's giving me difficulty, so I'm wondering if I'm trying to tackle it too early or something.

To answer my own question in case anyone had the same one, consuming people in the bases ups your effectiveness with the vehicles. And weapons for that matter. I think the game had told me that early on, but I hadn't paid much attention to it. It helps a ton for tough areas using the tanks and helicopters.

my bro bought this game the other day, and while the graphics might not be amazing, its expected in a game so wide-scale to prevent fps issues - game is really fun and i personally love it

Rented this last night - suprisingly good - and as for the grpahics...what's wrong with them? They are just one small step down from GTA IV. The streets are crammed with people and cabs as well.
One let down I had was the fact that this isn't truly a sanbox game - it's more of a Max Payne gameplay type in a sandbox world meaning if you just start roaming around, there isn't anything to do - you have to keep heading towards your objective.
Haven't really played much (got to the part where I had chased down a scientist after destroying a tank but then I died).
It is definitely the first game I've played where I feel like I own the city - that was cool and the first time I ran up a building....well, that was pretty impressive.
Will give it another spin before I take it back.

Ok, this is game is f'n insane - I love it. I just now started getting power ups and unlockables. The first choatic mission where you have to keep killing all the infected in the plant was excellent.
I love how when you avoid an air stirke and literally take cover on the top of buildings (the game actually responds to how open you are, for example, I hid behind an air conditioner unit when being hunted and they circled the building once looking for me and couldn't see me - on the same building, I tried hiding behing just a wall and was exposed on the other side so they caught me - very cool) and the excellent "we lost him!!" is cool too.
I still like the graphics too - I actually think they're pretty good - not sure why the game is getting a beating in that department - will definitely be buying this one.

Played that mission over the weekend and my first thought was using a helicopter, but it kept getting wiped out before I could take out more than 2 or 3 filters. Ended up grabbing a tank and rolling through to take out 5 of them. When it got blown up, I evaded the strike team, snagged another tank and went back for the last 3. It makes it a lot easier if you break it up into segments instead of trying to tackle the whole thing at once.

I took a chance on this game for $40 and am enjoying it so far. Very fun and frustrating at times. I haven't played in a couple of days, but I think I'm at a mission where I'm supposed to find another commander inside one of the bases. I think this is the mission after you have to collect the samples from the water towers.
I almost threw the controller after failing the mission where you have to kill the 6 hunters about 5 straight times before finally getting through that. I think it's worth the $40 and I really like the upgrades, etc that the game offers.

Re: Prototype (Activision, Radical Entertainment) - June 9th
Finally started playing this last night. I'm really enjoying it and there's definitely more of a sense of power and carnage than in inFAMOUS. The city feels pretty bland and repetitive, but that's a complaint I also had for inFAMOUS. The graphics aren't as nice, but the game still looks great.
One complaint I have that I don't think I've seen mentioned anywhere is the loading screen. The way it fades in and out to complete black always tricks me into thinking it's done loading. Very annoying.

So I'm stuck with some of the military consume missions. Is there a way to kill the mobile probes that alert your presence without triggering an alert? Early on, the bases only had those big stationary alarms that you could disable one at a time.
Or do I just need to hit and run and hope I can consume the commander and get in the base before my time runs out?
I also found that most of the powers are not very useful. I never really upgraded the pounding fists, which is probably why I can't medal in those side missions. Once you get the blade, I don't really see the point of the claws. Really, the whip fist for the helicopters, the blade for up close combat, and the strength enhancement for throwing things at distance enemies is what I primarily use.

I'm not sure of the best way to infiltrate bases with the flying sensors. I just run in, snag a commander, run somewhere outside the base and out-of-sight to consume him then run back into the base and enter before the alarms go off. It's a pain in the ass and usually takes a couple tries, but it works.

I finally got this and started it the other day. Only about an hour in. I'm enjoying the gameplay pretty decently, and if anything the plot seems to be the least interesting part of the game. The destruction is pretty cool, and the game controls pretty well given all the powers and abilities it gives you, although your character seems a bit "floaty" running around. I do like the way running up walls and leaping over obstacles is automated, making it pretty easy to feel like you're getting somewhere.

I think this was an alright game but I have yet to get around to beating it. I was looking for the hints and the globes and sort of lost sight of the main story.

I finally started playing this last night myself and it seems pretty chaotic. I enjoyed the heck out of Infamous so hopefully this is even better.

So overall the consensus is this was a pretty decent game? I can get it for $20 new at a Gamecrazy but I have to take a 1.5-2 hour lunch break and hop on the L to get it. Wondering if it is worth it.

Can't order online. Doesn't matter, I made the trek up there. Back in the office with a copy in my drawer.

My god, this game is incredibly frustrating, but just fun enough to keep you playing.
I finished the epic next-to-last boss last night, and all the missions after that one, accompanied by much cursing and threats to stop playing the game right then and there (the game ignored those, and beckoned me to return).
I'm still on the final boss, tried it five or six times but finally gave up since it was already an hour and a half past a sane bedtime.
What's worse is that on the third or so try, I got to the finish of the battle, where the big guy is stunned and you have to grab and do the standard button-mashing to finish him off (I assume), and I hit the wrong button at the prompt, which cancelled out. Garh!
Ah well, the final boss battle seems easier, not to mention faster, than the next-to-last one, so I'm sure I'll finish it tonight. Either that, or break the game in half and curl up on the floor, weeping silently and praying for death.

Oh, and after playing through this damn thing on Medium difficulty in order to unlock Hard, I have to say there's no way in hell that I'm playing it through on Hard. Ten thousand screaming demons couldn't force me to do it.
And after realizing that, I also realized that I could have just played through on Easy.
