I guess I can finally see what all the hype is about.

What's the track used in that trailer? It sounds familiar.

It's "Courageous Heart" by Two Steps From Hell.

Microsoft Responds to Mass Effect 2 Jumping Ship
Company says Mass Effect 1 remains Xbox 360 exclusive.
August 17, 2010
by Jim Reilly

Microsoft has responded to today's announcement of Mass Effect 2 coming to PlayStation 3. The game first launched in January 2010 for Xbox 360 and PC, and is now headed to PS3 a year later in January 2011.

"With both Mass Effect titles launching first on Xbox 360 combined with the wealth of available paid downloadable content on Xbox Live today, Xbox 360 remains the best place to experience the Mass Effect franchise," a representative said in a statement given to IGN.

Mass Effect 1, first published by Microsoft in 2007, will remain exclusive to Xbox 360.

"And the original Mass Effect is absolutely an Xbox 360 exclusive, making Xbox 360 the only place to get the full Mass Effect experience," the company added.

seems kind of weird to release a game where your gamesave from the first is so intertwined with the sequel. you'll be missing a ton of gameplay on the ps3 version because of it.

I'm guessing it must've been used in other trailers because I swear I've heard it before but have never seen that Mass Effect 2 trailer before.

What's involved with the PS3 version:

BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka has revealed to VG247 that Mass Effect 2's Cerberus Network DLC will be available for the PS3 version in a "full way." While he didn't get too specific, he indicated that "a lot," if not all of the post-release content that's been released for the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game will be integrated into the initial PS3 release. Additionally, the PS3 port will feature some form of an "introduction experience that provides the backstory and the things that have happened" in the first game (which is not available on PS3).

"We haven't revealed what that is yet," Muzyka said of the introduction for first-time Mass Effect players. "It'll be something that provides a good introduction and provides a lot of the backstory and introduces you well to the story-arc, and kind of makes you feel like you're part of it all. And then you can jump right into the action in Mass Effect 2."

Muzyka also touched on the possibility of Mass Effect 3 launching simultaneously on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, teasing, "That'd be a good guess, but we haven't announced any details on any future formats or anything -- or even formally announced Mass Effect 3 yet."

As for the MS "ME1 is 360 only", I guess they forgot that it's out for the PC (even though the PC version came out several months later), along with all the DLC.

So I'm guessing a movie like what was done with Shenmue 2.

I see what you mean about this trailer. I've been watching it regularly and obsessively. It really gets you pumped for the game.

EDIT: The more I read of this game, I wonder if I should wait for the PS3 version or simply get the first and second game on PC so I can play it already.

I downloaded the demo. Even with my meager PC, the game ran flawlessly with all the settings maxed. I doubt the PS3 version would look half as good so I'm just gonna order both these games on PC. The demo alone exudes a lot of atmosphere that's right up my alley.

Importing your character from ME into ME2 makes for a much richer experience IMO. Quite a few decisions from the first game are referenced in the second, and Bioware has promised that the impact of some won't be seen until the third.

Have you played the first on yet? If not I would go about playing the first one on the PC. Cause playing through the first one will add alot to the experience of the second one. Meeting characters from the first one and references to the first one really make the universe feel real. but at the same time the first game wasnt perfect so dont judge weather or not you will like the second one, because the second one is so much better.

Everything has been improved in the second one, from the gunplay, to the story and characters. but the first one is still an amazing game.

Don't get me wrong, I will also order the first game. I want the full experience so I definitely want both on PC.

Speaking of the PC versions, are they compatible with gamepads or is it strickly a keyboard and mouse affair. Cos I'm thinking of ordering this: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...N%3DB0002XJBGE However, over at AVSforum, I was recommended to get this: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox.../dp/B002TIW7OI

all you need to get is a standard corded xbox 360 controller or the wireless one you linked too.

I'd rather go wireless. So does that controller include some sort of USB adapter (or whatever) to hook up to my PC? Or do I need to buy something separately?

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC - and coming to PS3 in 2011!

I think this is so darned awesome.
Spoiler:

As with Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3 will allow the player to import their save file from the previous game, carrying over their decisions from both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, totaling over 1000 variables. As Mass Effect 3 will import decisions not just from Mass Effect 2, but the original Mass Effect as well, some of the player's decisions from Mass Effect that did not have impact in Mass Effect 2 could potentially have an impact in Mass Effect 3.

If Commander Shepard died in the player's Mass Effect 2 playthrough, however, the player will be unable to to import their save game. Mass Effect 3's story is a continuation of Shepard's story and if Shepard died in Mass Effect 2 that death is considered final. Similarly, any squadmates who did not survive the suicide mission at the end of Mass Effect 2 will not return in Mass Effect 3.

Also known to have an impact in Mass Effect 3 is any romance the player has pursued. If Commander Shepard had a love interest in Mass Effect, yet pursued a new love interest in Mass Effect 2, this could have negative repercussions for Shepard's relationship in Mass Effect 3.

From Bioware's forum

Hi Everyone

So, what all did we get from our Cerberus Network key? Beyond the Zaeed mission it was really just a few weapons and armor, right?

Would it have been worth the $15 they charged second-hand purchasers?

I believe the "Firewalker" DLC that I think most people played for about 5 minutes before turning it off was part of it as well.

How do those BioWare points work? Do you just buy a card like you do for the Microsoft points?

Ah. Well, since I am getting both games I guess it concenrs me nonetheless. So is it a sidequest or is that a story-centric mission?

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC - and coming to PS3 in 2011!

It's a side quest, IIRC. But, doing those really fleshes out the universe even if the combat takes place in the same three basic structures.

Well if that's the case, I can see myself putting up with the sidequests.

I did three times :D You asked if it was irritating and I answered. You also asked in a ME2 thread about an ME1 quest. Don't get all haughty with me because I wasn't aware you were going to buy ME1 too ;)
