Or you can get the non "in-wall installation" one here - http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

I've bought like 4 of those and they're great.
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
^ Yeah, $13 is crazy expensive. I've bought several for a couple/few bucks each over the last few years.
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
My bad, I always get the in-wall ones as I run them either in the ceiling or wall. The cheaper ones are just as good if used outside a wall.

Quote: My PS3 was stolen 7 months ago. I'm planning on finally getting a replacement Slim in a few weeks. (I waited on a price drop since a BD60 was thrown in when I replaced the TV.)

Can I download the Rock Band content that I previously purchased (for free, of course)? (I assume I can re-download most of the other PSN games that I bought.)
The only things I know of that you can't re-download are videos and SingStar songs.

Yahoo says Dont buy a ps3 cause the controller will eventually die

Oh noes.
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
I don't know how long the battery lasts, but I go through a controller each year anyway because the triggers wear out. I think I could replace the battery if I wanted.

And, I know they're giving the retail figure, but I've never paid $55 for one.
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
I've had my PS3 for 1 1/2 years now and no problem with the controller at all. If it does die, I'm sure I've saved enough money on batteries to pay for a new controller.

I don't see user-replaceable batteries in iPods either, and we see just how badly it affected their sales....gee, if this is the only reason they give as to why not to buy a PS3, then why aren't iPods on this list as well?

GREAT point. Besides, unless I'm mistaken or the policy has changed, Sony will replace dead controller batteries for free.
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Just when we thought we were going to wait until the end of March to get our hands on Gran Turismo 5, our friends at Joystiq tell us that Polyphony Digital will release a demo version of hotly anticipated racing game on December 17. The demo will be available on the Playstation Network for download both in Europe and North America, giving long-patient fans a taste of what the full game will be like when it finally arrives in stores.

And as cool as it is that the demo arrives within two weeks time, even cooler is the fact that gamers will be given the opportunity to compete for some nifty prizes. All you have to do is post your best time trial by January 24, 2010. The best time from the U.S. and Canada wins a trip to the Indianapolis 500. A sweet prize, no doubt, but it doesn't come close to the top Euro prize. The best driver from select European countries gets to enter the GT Academy. After completing training the lucky skilled gamer will race in the European GT4 Cup in a non-virtual race-spec Nissan 370Z. How amazing is that?

It would be even better if GT5 actually shipped on December 17, but it looks like we won't be racing one of the world's best driving simulators until March at the earliest. Hit the jump to view a slick video that contains more information about the GT Academy.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
So I found a good deal on the Warhawk bundle with the bluetooth headset online (I know everyone said a usb headset was the way to go but for 30 bucks for the the game and headset shipped seemed too good to pass up). I also just got Killzone 2 today so if people here play any of those games regularly feel free to add me
CardiffGiant11 on PSN.

I picked up the official Sony PS3 headset (should be the same as the Warhawk one). Works great for me! Much clearer sound on both ends. Like the onscreen display (shows power and sound levels and mode) and the fit is good.

I considered a USB, but did not want to be tethered to the console.

The warhawk ones appears to actually be a Jabra BT125, not quite as fancy as the new Official Sony one but from all the reading I did everyone gave it high marks and if sony included it with the game I'm sure it'll be fine. Has volume and mute functions so that'll work nicely I think.

Here's the headset in question.

That official Sony one is supposed to be fantastic but I didn't have much interest in the games you can get it packed in with and with this I'm getting a game I wanted plus a headset (albeit not quite as fancy) for 10 bucks less than the other headset alone would cost.

What he said!

I will play this game as long as I have a functioning PS3.

Anybody play the Dante's Inferno demo? I knew that it was a God of War clone, but it's just downright shameless! Pass...

I downloaded it but haven't played it yet. If it is a good clone then who cares? It is likely that God of War will end with this third iteration but our desire for games similar to it will not pass. So if this game can step in and deliver action and graphics close to it then I'm for it. Saints Row was a GTA knockoff but the 2nd one ended up being better than GTA IV in my opinion.

Yeah, I did. I was expecting it to be similar to God of War, as it's pretty obvious by gameplay footage, but you pretty much come with a complete built-in grasp on the controls -- jump attacks, light vs. heavy, combinations, etc. etc. With that said, it's also just as fun as God of War and will definitely satisfy those looking for a similar experience.

It even copies how you get health back and how you control a beast while riding on its back...
