I thought they fixed that dongle issue in the previous update before yesterdays? :hscratch:

If you didn't have that update, go ahead and get 3.0 and see if your problem goes away.

Yeah, make sure you have the latest firmware, and make sure you're turning on the system by using the controller you want set as #1 ... I think if you turn the system on by using the power button on the PS3 and then turn the controller on, any other controllers/dongles/etc. connected to the system have already taken up the first available slots.

Yoou don't have to quit the game.

Press and hold the PS button for a few seconds. You will see a message pop up to Power Off The System, Power Off the Controller, and Reassign the Controller.

Alternatively, press the PS button and scroll to Settings then to Accessory Setting, and then Reassign Controller.

Ugh. Why couldn't they just leave well enough alone?

I really can't stand all that extra advertising on what was once a clean dash - getting inundated with ads when I'm in the PS-store was enough, I don't need it on my dashboard. It now looks like a trailer park. They may as well offer a wallpaper up of a pick up truck on cinder blocks and it will be complete.

I also don't like how the icons and text are bigger (and I can't seem to adjust them). They were fine and stylish before, now they're just ugly and garish.

On the controller issue, make sure nothing is connected by USB.

Assign the controller to #1.
Power off the system with the controller.
Power on with the controller and it should be set to #1.

I found that problem was related to a USB charging cable for the blootooth headset and the USB infrared dongle.

Yeah, I have a blu-ray remote. I did what you guys suggested, but after I plug the remote back in it sets the PS controller back to slot 2. I've always kept up w/the firmware updates as well. It's definitely bc of the remote though, as I never had problems before.

Thanks anyways guys, it's just more of an annoyance than anything.

At least I know I don't have to quit the game to reassign it, thanks for that emachine.

Awesome.

The new update is so so. All the ads everywhere just reminds me of the blades on the 360 when it looked like Nascar. However, the dynamic wallpaper is pretty cool. Love the Afrika theme, but I refuse to pay $3 for any other ones.
At least the audio thing is nice for those that needed it.

I like bigger icons and font choices. I always felt that the font size was too small.

I just saw the funniest PS3 commercial. The gamer geek telling the Sony exec he heard the PS3 is going to drop to $299 and then the Sony guy walking through all these promotional items showing the PS3 at $299 all the while he is saying you can't believe everything you read on the internet, no comment. Art imitating life...

Playstation Canada still sucks.

Now there aren't even downloadable trailers available anymore - both theatrical and Blu-ray trailers are gone from the media section of the store, and the store itself under "Video" isn't available at all.

The new update is alright but I don't like how the friends list looks now. They should at least give us some options on how we want it to look. Does it really need to be a bunch of big, grey boxes?

Updated to 3.0 last night on my Slim and Uncharted started to make the system freeze. I exchanged the game for a new copy, but I'm noticing a lot of people on forums posting about Uncharted problems after installing Firmware 3.0.

Anyone else had any problems with games freezing after the update? I thought that maybe I had a defective disc.

This update finally convinced me to create a Japanese PSN account and boy am I glad I did. That Afrika theme is gorgeous. My 5-year-old will love watching the zebras. I was surprised how easy it was as well (watched a youtube video). Anything else I should do/know about with that account? Any "can't miss" demos?
