From the screen shots it looks like it is the same one on XBLA that Pinball FX offered. Unfortunately, it is not a very enjoyable table.

Yeah, it's the same table.

Not a good one? Really? Damn Anyone else have opinions?

It was okay. I'm not a big Street Fighter fan so maybe that's the problem. I downloaded it anyways since i love Pinball tables in general. They should've ported some of the other ones instead. The Haunted Mansion is a really good one. Does Microsoft have some kind of exclusive deal to keep em on the 360?

I don't think I even tried out Pinball FX, I went straight to Zen.

Very cool! I need to put my copy in and play it. I haven't played it in a while, and I'm not that far into it. I've been spending too much time playing Wipeout HD/Fury, LittleBigPlanet, and Street Fighter IV. Time to get back to GTA4.

Woah...didn't MS pay like 50 million for the "exclusive" DLC?

And this is why I am not worried about the Joker mission on the new Batman game "never" coming to the 360.

Hmmm, this makes me want to upgrade my 60GB to the Slim more and more. Although, I don't have a receiver to take advantage of this...YET. I plan on getting one eventually.

Although, my main reason would be to take advatange of a quieter drive (assuming the SLIM is quiet)

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition

Anyone having trouble connecting to the PSN last night or today?

I can connect to the internet just fine, PS3 gets an IP address, senses the internet, can even do folding at home, but it just won't connect to the PSN. Gives me error code 80710092. I searched online and everyone has a different answer for why this happens.

Last night I thought that maybe the servers were just down, but now it's 12 hours later and I still can't connect. Anyone else?

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition

I don't have any problems with the PSN - I am almost always logged in. However since I moved my cod4 game comes up every 15 or 20 min or so and says "no network connection detected". I'm still signed into the the PSN, I click ok, and find a game again. Wtf? At first I thought it was cod4, so I put in Burnout Paradise and sure enough about every 20 or 30 minutes (a bit less often than cod4) it would disconnect me from the "paradise city servers" but I was still online on the PSN, and I could just jump back in the lobby I was already in.

So, I'm thinking this is a router issue or network settings? I'm at college and I can't adjust the router at all so I'm hoping that's not the issue, but thinking it is.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition

So I jumped on a unsecured network in my apartment building and was able to connect to the PSN. So something must be up with my connection that is now blocking the PSN. In 2 years of having my PS3 on this connection, I've never had a problem til now.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition

You may have to monkey around with your PS3 network settings.

I had similar issues a bit back, and I think I adjusted something in the DNS settings.

Hope you have it sorted out by Warhawk Tuesday!!!

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition

I didn't want to post a new thread, and I did a search and didn't quite find the answer, so I'll just ask:

is the new "slim" PS3 going to be backwards compatible for PS2 games. I've held off on a new system for years, and had thought about finally making the jump to the slim case, but I've read that it won't be able to play PS2 games?

Is this true? None at all? If so, Sony fucked up, because then I would definitely not get one.

The rumor is that sony is making software emulation so you can play ps2 games. As of now the slim is not backwards compatible.

I completely reset my router and rebuilt all my settings and it is now working. Hope it keeps working for Warhawk on Tuesday. Hope it keeps working to play MAG and Fat Princess later today as well.

The PS3 slim will not have backwards compatibility - yet. Now, there was an interview with a Sony employee I read the other day in which he stated that they would not be implementing b/c again because they wanted to move forward and sell PS3 games for the PS3, not old PS2 games for the PS3. However, I think a half year ago, maybe longer, they also said that a price drop would not happen and a new model was not coming, so at this point I guess you can't really believe anything. If you really want to play PS2 games, you can get a decent used system for like $50. As much as I would like b/c through software emulation too, I don't understand it being a dealbreaker, especially now that the PS3 is $100 cheaper. But that's just my opinion.

Maybe, but they always deny price drops before they happen.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition

There's a rumor of GoW 1 & 2 being put on a Blu-Ray disc for the PS3. If that's true they'll either:

a) Remake the games for the PS3
b) Implement some sort of software-based emulation
c) Implement software-based emulation for just that disc/games

This disc is rumored to have a GoW 3 demo as well.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition

Aren't the 80GB PS3's sold with the Motorstorm and MGS4 bundles already BC thru software emulation? If that's the case, then they already have a PS2 software emulator, and what's stopping them from incuding it in current gen PS3's? I thought they made a concious decision to take it out, not because they couldn't put it in, but because they wanted to move PS3 software. Or is there something else that they took out of the current gen consoles that prevents them from including BC?

I've heard that they actually have ps2 hardware built into the system. With the slim being so small I think they would have to emulate ps2 with software.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition

The original 20 GB and 60 GB units had two PS2 chips (the Emotion Engine [EE] and the GPU chips), these had full hardware BC. The 80 GB model eliminated the EE chip, but emulated BC through software. The new models lack either chip and are, at least at present, unable to emulate PS2 software.

But are they really unable to, or is Sony just not putting the emulator on the current models as a business decision? I just ask, because I hear people talking about a BC solution for the current models, and I thought Sony took out BC on purpose. (I am an owner of the 80GB MGS4 model with software emulation BC, BTW, so that's why I'm curious about his).

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition

I wonder if they're thinking that it's getting more difficult to do BC as systems get more complex, so they're deciding to cut it off now so that people don't expect it next time.
