Just fix the .vob file support that was crippled in the last update and I'll be a happy camper.

As long as they don't force me into Home as the default GUI, I'm open to anything.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
The last update caused the system to dramatically slow down in recognizing .vob files on an attached harddrive. It now takes literally 10-20 seconds for the system to recognize an individual .vob file and display it in the directory listing. Not too bad if there are only a handful. But when there are 70-80 in a single directory it can take 15-20 minutes to populate the listing. Once listed the files play back fine though.

Some PS3 websurfers have reported that, as of this morning, they're no longer able to play Hulu videos. Engadget dug through the Hulu TOS and thinks it knows why.
The PS3 had access to Hulu thanks to the console browser's flash support, leading some to wonder if this was a glitch or a block caused by the firmware. But do not adjust your set, reports Engadget:
The Hulu TOS was just updated as of June 26, and although we haven't found any PS3-specific passages, changing a browser's user-string to match the console reveals it is definitely being specifically blocked.

What's this shit I'm hearing about Sony making Home an essential requirement for future PS3 games?
Are they fucking kidding?

It sounds like they're just going to require that games support launching from within Home. It's only important for those who use Home on a regular basis (show of hands?), and would like to just launch a game from within there. It's not as if someone who just wants to play a game is going to start up Home first.

"There’s more. Simultaneous HDMI and digital optical outputting will be included in the release, a move likely to bring big smiles to the audio heads in the crowd."
It's kind of silly that the PS3 never did that in the first place.

Turned on my PS3 yesterday and it defaulted to #4. You sure the system wasn't already on?

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
I'm pretty sure it's been happening since the firmware upgrade, it just took me a few times to notice because I don't always need to reassign the controller ... some games don't care if it's in slot 2. I guess it could be some other random thing that's making it work, but the firmware is the only thing I can think of that's changed.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition

The one time I want to actually go into the PSN and download something, I get an error message because it's down.
I guess you really do get what you pay for. I'm heading to my 360, instead.

I guess Live never goes down...not even for maintenance.

XBL - has never been down when I've wanted to play or download something.
PSN - the one time I decide I want to download something, is down.
So if Live does go down, it's probably in the wee hours of the morning. Not at 9am.
