Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
It's up to five, inclusive...
anyway, to make the most out of game sharing is to create a temporary account, buy something and share with four others to cut cost. Say, PoP DLC (Epilogue), create an account for that purpose and buy it, give the user id and password to four other people in the circle. Of course, that account can be reused if the same circle of sharers want something else. The beauty? Since all of you like PoP stuff, chances are if there's a new content, all of you want that anyway, isn't that sweet? No worries for password stolen, blah blah blah... and since it's maxed out, no worries that even the password is visible  I'm trying to get a circle for KZ2... |
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Are there any import wrestling games available for the PS3 yet? Anything at all in the works?

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Thinking about getting the Resistance 2 CE for $55. Never really gamed on my PS3 yet, but love single player mainly of the Halos and Gears. Good game/price?

Haven't played Resistance 2 yet but I played through 1. To me, $55 is a lot, I would instead buy the first one and see if you like it. |
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
That is my usual plan, as I hate to play things out of order, or pay close to full price. But I thought I had heard that 1 was quite mediocre and that 2 was fantastic. Also, I'm a bit of a sucker for CEs.

I actually heard the opposite . I heard that 1's campaign was better than 2's, but that 2 had the better multi |
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
I played through both, and I enjoyed 2's campaign much more - it's a smidge shorter, but much more varied, with more things to see and do. I didn't play much of the multi-player from either game, though 2's seemed more robust.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
I got the CE from Amazon on that PS3 DOTD for $50. The extra stuff was worth it for that price. R2 is worlds better than R1 in single and multiplayer. I didn't try co op yet though.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Thanks all. If it is still there next time I'm at that Best Buy, I'll probably pick it up. FPSs are about the only thing I play on consoles it seems, and even though I have a few in my 360 unplayed pile, I need to start using my PS3.

Like mattysemo247, I also got it for $50 which I thought was an absolute steal. I was able to sell off all the extra stuff and recoup my expenses. |

I don't know where in VA you are, but I passed through Newport News a couple weekends ago and the Best Buy there had the R2 CE for $45 I believe. They also had a number of other CEs heavily discounted.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
R2 CE original price is $80. I paid $65 on release day. The game is okay, i like R1 better though. R2's on-line play is great, I enjoyed it. The ending is a bit shocker really... For that, it beats Gears 2 by a mile. Action-wise, Gears 2 is more pumped than R2. However, the stealth chimeras in the "jungle" scene is really cool (Predator anyone?).
Whoever said it's not worth $60, then yeah, just wait till it hit $5 or something. But if you can get it like $30-$55 (CE), it's not bad at all. The little art book is okay, hardcover you know... The figure is meh. The CE comes with free skin for one of the weapon or something. If you pre-ordered from Amazon, you get the exclusive player skin as well. $30 is a good price point for R2. I traded my copy after beating it (i kept the CE contents) for $38. I'm waiting for a $10-$20 copy... |
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Future Shop had a 2-day online / 1-day in-store sale a couple days ago that featured Resistance 2 (regular and CE) on sale. The regular was going for $29.99 (but actually $26.99 in-store) and the CE was going for $39.99 (but actually 35.99 in-store).
I had previously picked up the regular edition but never actually played it. Ended up trading in my game (yes, they take used games now) and only paid an additional 3 bucks to get a brand new CE box. In the end, factoring in the cost I originally paid for the regular edition, the CE only cost me $35 plus tax. My only complaint is that the CE outer packaging wasn't handled properly by Sony. Meaning they should have used heavier cardboard or at least shrinkwrapped the outer packaging before sending them to retail. It's damn near impossible to find a mint condition box. Oh, and I also picked up Metal Gear Solid 4 LE for $31 as well. Amazing prices for a couple of hefty CEs/LEs! |
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
There's a thread in CAG about a lot of CEs being on sale(50%) in BB. It's YMMV so check your stores to see what's the price for Resistance 2.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
As for the outer box packaging for the CEs/LEs, most of them are thin card boards, so unless you're getting them right out of the "oven" you're not gonna get a 100% pristine copy.
After seeing RE5 CE price drops, i'm staying away from CEs and LEs. I know you lose some due to short supply or high demand (PS3 SFIV CE), but most CEs and LEs go on sale some time later. |
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
http://www.gamedealdaily.com/ has the Blu-Ray version of Siren: Blood Curse for $30 shipped today. This isn't sold in the US (unless you ebay it).
The PSN download-only version is $10 more (and I think the DL version is censored?) |
Today's deal is a new copy of Heavenly Sword for $25 shipped.
Both Half and Amazon used copies are a little more than that shipped. |
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Though periodically in and out of stock, Play-Asia is currently offering the region-free, fully English versions of Hakuna Matata (aka Afrika) and Aquanaut's Holiday for $30 each, down from their usual $50 prices. Niether of these are available in the US nor does Sony seem to have any plans to release them here, and they're very unique, relaxing little games based around exploration, photography and treasure hunting. I highly recommend both. :)

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
What is wrong with me? I just bought both of them.
|
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Aquanaut's Holiday has trophy support as well, if that influences anyone's decision.
|
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Sweet. I've had my eye on Africa for a while and just couldn't pull the trigger on it at $60. I ordered both as well. I was disappointed with Endless Ocean because of the graphical limitations on the Wii, this looks much better.
|
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Hmmm too tempting.
|
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
I got 'em both too. I'm a sucker for games that look cool and aren't available in the U.S.
|
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Peer pressure was too strong.
Besides "that's something that I can play with/in-front-of my daughters". |
