Here's a general question.
I just got a used Xbox 360 that was modded. I want to get the game Geometry Wars but can't go online because the console was banned. Is there any other way to get this game? |

Does Microsoft have a way for you to petition them to unban a console in that case? You'd think source IP, gamertag, playing habits, etc would be evidence on your behalf.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
Awesome thanks for the link.
I actually got the system for free since it was a banned system, so I'm not too worried about being able to go online. I just wanted Geometry Wars, since the hard-drive I got only had the demo. |

I think he means that the shooting segments of Uncharted can be tedious - which I agree with. The action stuff is great, but like I said, the shooting segments in Uncharted feel dull, hollow and limp, which makes them feel tedious when they get drawn out towards the end, especially in comparison to Gears.
As for the RE thing I meant strictly in terms of control, a common issue in 3rd person adventure games (regular (Mario 64-esque) platformers aside) -- they're either too rigid or too floaty. Both Gears and Uncharted have rather rigid controls, and they both feel a bit "off" to me -- like I never have full control of the character. That said both are extremely fun games, and that is what really matters. |

All consumers should know that piracy is illegal, and that modifying their Xbox 360 console to play pirated discs, violates the Xbox LIVE terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox LIVE. The health of the video game business depends on customers paying for the genuine products and services they receive from manufacturers, retailers, and the third parties that support them. This would also be a good time to remind you that the warranty on an Xbox 360 console is not transferrable and if you purchase a used console that has been previously banned, you will not be able to connect to Xbox LIVE. |

Isn't Geometry Wars on the first arcade disk that was released a few years back?

No, it's not. Target clearance prices are very YMMV, even from store-to-store. I found Wolverine for $42 at one Target and $30 at another last Monday.
I've been to 3 in the last few days. All have the same prices. Assassin's Creed platinum hits was 9.99. It just must be cause they're in the Long Island region . |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
this is probably a stupid question.. but since Im not 100% on the answer, i figure ill ask
I notice pretty often when i put a game disc in and it starts up... I get a prompt that there are updates for the game to download.. do you also get prompted for those updates if you chose to play a game from the harddrive? |

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
So anyone heard of the gutswapping going on with banned consoles? Basically, jackasses who had their modded consoles banned buy a new one at Best Buy, Walmart, etc. They open the new and old consoles up, swap out some internal components and then package the new one (with the banned hardware inside) back up so it looks like it hasn't been opened. Since the serial numbers match, the store accepts it as a return and puts it back on the floor.
There are quite a few message boards where people are openly bragging about doing this. A lot of the jerk-offs are even stupid enough to have the same email address associated with the board they're bragging on and their facebook/myspace account, so it's not hard to see who they are. I'm almost tempted to put together a couple small packets with names and locations of people saying they've done this and send them off to the relevant stores to look into. |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
That's really bad.
I hope no one buys one of the returns, but I think there shouldn't be an issue with BB or WM if you return your console because it's banned (after you bought it from them). |

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
It shouldnt be hard to track down people doing this after a customer comes back to BB saying the opened xbox you sold me has been tampered with.
BB can look up who returned it, no? They can then be charged with several crimes. |

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
All MS needs to do is have the list of banned serials available either online or to retailers that call in so they can verify it right there over the phone. Easy fix.

How does that help for a gutted system?
I supposed they would need to start booting the things up right there during your trade in to verify the internal serial matches the external. Then they can be donned thy busted. |
