I'm just dropping in to thank you guys for your advice etc on my 360 adventure.

I was having a bit of buyer's remorse and Craigslisted it today (only took a couple of hours to sell for $160). Ultimately, I decided that the 360/PS3 are just too much alike to own both given the amount of free time I have, and I'm far too invested in PS3 to turn back with 20 or so games...not to mention a bunch of Blu-Rays. I also just wasn't ready to shell out another $90 for a hard drive.

I thought it was a nice system, and I absolutely "get" why you guys all like it so much. Live is very cool and the controller is perhaps the best I've ever used once I got used to it. All in all, it was a worthwhile experiment, and I profited $60 on the deal (with the caveat that I have to spend $100 on amazon before Jan 1). :)

Anyway, thanks fellas!

I get that. Honestly, the PS3 has come a LONG way in the past two years. Now I think there are actually better exclusives on the PS3 than the 360. Still, once you get used to the wonderful, reliable functionality of Live, it's hard to go back the the haphazard clusterfuck of PSN. In any case, I'm sure you're fine with the PS3.

Well at least now we know why chess sold his 360 so fast. -ohbfrank-

Bummer. If both had exactly the same games I would still take a 360 over a PS3. The 360 controller and Live is what makes the system ideal for me. I love my Blu-rays but use my stand alone player more than my PS3 for that.

This was the heart of the matter for me. I couldn't figure out what games I would get for the system. I was thinking Fable 2, Mass Effect, Dead Rising and I'd probably rebuy Orange Box and Fallout so I didn't have to play them gimped. I would have said Gears as well until last weekend. Given the fact that I already have a backlog on PS3, it just seemed a bit extraneous.

No doubt. Heck, I'm guessing the single voicechat standard alone makes it a better experience. Kudos to Sony for giving people options, and I generally don't want to hear from people anyway, but man is voicechat a crapshoot on PSN. The invite and specifically cross-game invite system on Live is very cool as well.

Bottom line: If I'd started with a 360 and had all of the crossplatform stuff on it, I'd probably have sold a PS3 today.

Will get to it in a minute...but I assume my account stays active right? Just in case a few more exclusives drive me to buy another one in the future.

I'm looking to buy a used 20gb hard drive. Is there anything I should know before buying a used one? Do I need transfer cables (I have an Arcade w/no other hard drive)? Are there any known scams to look out for? Thanks

You won't need a transfer cable -- those are just HDD to HDD. There's so little demand for 20 GB drives, I can't imagine anyone is making fake ones, but be careful and buy from some one with a well established, near-spotless record anyway. I nearly got ripped off with a 120, but fortunately the a-hole didn't ship it in a month and got an up-and-up one instead.

And since you haven't bought one yet, you might want to at least explore picking up a used 60 GB instead. That 20 will be filled before you know it; it's only 13 GB usable space and that goes REALLY fast if you're doing much besides game saves.

Thanks Decker. I'm mainly wanting it just be able to install the current game I'd be playing. The dvd drive is just so loud and I thought it would be good to lessen the wear on it as well. I can remove installed game data while keeping the saves, right?

I'm actually looking on Craiglist for something between $20-30, not buying from ebay.

Is Microsoft still doing that Arcade promotion where you get a 20gb hard drive and 3 months of live for $30? That could be a great way for you to go if so.

Yeah, they're separate.

And that Arcade promotion ended a long time ago--wanna say January or February, if not earlier.

Absolutely, just be careful. You could either remove the game install from the game folder in your memory, or if you're not paying attention, you can delete the entire folder including game saves. Make sure you do the former, not the latter. You can also keep your game saves on the build-in "memory card" on your Arcade model (they'll ask you each and every time you play a game if you want to save the game data to the HDD or the "memory card").

Thanks for the help guys. I replied to a couple Craigslist ads, but nothing yet. I was able to score a used copy of GTA: Episodes from Hastings for $24 (includes shipping), so I have that to look forward to.

Pulled from SD:

Xbox Wireless Adapter: $39.99 (50% off)

It's OOS online but you might be able to pricematch elsewhere or get lucky in store.

Just got 400 free points!

Text "power" to 24477. For days they've been telling me they're out of codes, but this morning I got one. It's sponsored by Doritos. Win anywhere from 160 to 1600. Thanks to CAG.

Oh, and you can only win once per phone number (but can enter as many times as you want until then). Doesn't work from Google or AIM texting services, etc.

How long does a response take?

Edit: Nevermind. About 1-2 minutes. Mine was 160 points.

I'm on Sprint. After 3 days of trying, today was the first day I've won. Trying my brother's sprint phone now, but he's not even getting a response. Gf's AT&T phone hasn't come up a winner yet, either.
