Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

My walmart had 2 arcade units when I went by tonight. I asked in general terms if items could be exchanged when a price was changed and they said yes. Withing 7 to 10 days they thought. I didn't ask specifically about gift cards but I think they would be have to honor that as well. I'll stop by tomorrow and pick up one and price match it Saturday.

I must be confused - a GC offer to me is not a price change. It's an added bonus offer for those that purchase during the promotion offer. If you don't buy on that day how do you expect they are required to "honor" a different arangement than the one you purchased under?

As somebody mentioned up thread you can always return on day of and rebuy in the attempt to get a GC. I suppose you could look at a "pricematch" as that process with a step removed, but I'd think the store views those differently.

The thing is you'd probably do better bringing your new 360 in, going up to CS and trying a return/rebuy than facing the ugly mob in the back of the electronics department. It might be worth risking it

Why the heck is Sacred 2 still full price? I would like to snag this game at some point but it just seems like it ought to be cheaper by now.

sacred 2 is well worth $60...I played or over 100 hours with just one character!

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

I imagine I will get it at some point... it has just been out long enough it seems like I ought to be able to find it on the cheap.

I also wish the quest management system was easier. I found it rough to manage what quest i was doing and then trying to find the markers. The map seems huge. I'm playing a Dryad now and trying to figure out the abilities and such. I also hate the menu system.

I have an unrelated question though. My wife was asking if there were any new Gauntlet style games. She played an absolute ton of Gauntlet Legends on the Xbox with me. We also played a bunch of Baldur's Gate on the Xbox (we never got to play BGII). We play Castle Crashers regularly.

So in essence she is looking for something where we can run around co-op in real-time and beat on a bunch of monsters. She likes the leveling up mechanism, getting new abilities etc. Any ideas if something like this is coming out?

(I mentioned that new Fairy Tales game to her but she thought it just looked like a gory Castle Crashers and didn't interest her at all. The reviews made me think it wouldn't work since it sounded dull).

Borderlands

though it's FPS, it definitely feels like Diablo.

Fairy Tale Fighters? Yeah, that's a fighting game I think.

I played Sacred 2 for about 10 hours, but got bored. I couldn't find a good camera angle, the map was difficult to get around with, and the inventory management system was overwhelming. I wanted to like it, I like the different characters and the sense of humor (make sure you read all the gravestones), but the gameplay didn't enthrall me.

Have you tried Marvel Ultimate Alliance (1 or 2)? Not a fantasy game, but that really reminds me of Gauntlet.

I played the first one but i never once made the connection to see if she would enjoy it as well. Now that it was pointed out i bet you are right.

Borderlands won't work because she has played a FPS once in her entire life. She didn't grow up gaming like i did so things like the standard controls in a FPS are completely foreign and confusing to her. A good 3rd person hack and slash with a little aiming though is right up her alley. We played tons of Castle Crashers for that very reason.

To be honest, i really wish there was another console Baldur's Gate or i wish i could find BGII for cheap. I'm pretty sure it was BC on the 360 and she seems to like the fantasy setting.

How about TMNT, old school version on XBLA?

No progression of abilities. The drive to level up and get new skills/powers/or just more powerful is the hook for her.

Maybe try WoW. You would both have to have an account, though. And two PCs.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

If you don't want to commit to the ongoing monthly fee, Guild Wars is a good alternative to WoW. (still need 2 PCs and two copies of the game, of course.)

You could go old school and get Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, with Streets of Rage 1, 2, and 3. Although there isn't any character progression in those.

Fable II? It can be co-op and is a pretty accessible action/RPG with character progression.

Major Nelson tweeted that Crackdown has been updated so that it can now be installed to the hard drive.

Two words. Crackdown. Orbs.

Of course this may be a bit violent for some.

Spider Man: Friend or Foe might fit the bill.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

That is a no on WoW. Not only do i not need that addiction but i definitely don't need my wife playing a game that would take up hours upon hours.

Can you play Crackdown split screen?

I will definitely check out Spider-Man F/F and those Marvel games mentioned earlier. Thanks for the info guys!

Although i will admit it is a drag that it doesn't appear there is anything like this on the horizon.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

Probably a stupid question, and I have googled this, but I just wanted to ask you all to be sure.

I just scored an arcade unit today, and I'm wondering if I also got an Elite if I can just use the hard drive from the Elite on the arcade unit (e.g., if I have the elite at home and the arcade at the g/f's place). Is there anything special I need to do to facilitate this?

Thanks!

That would work. Paid content is tied to both the profile that purchased it and the console it was first downloaded on. So...

In order to play a game or use content on a different console you have to have your profile signed into XBL online. If you only care about save games it'll work without issue or connectivity.

Groovy. Thanks for the confirmation. (This is my first MS console. I'm pretty psyched!)

Baldur's Gate does not exist on consoles. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance does, but those are not the real Baldur's Gate games. Dark Alliance is about as similar to the real Baldur's Gate as Mario is to Doom.

You sound like someone arguing about dubbing on anime.

I would assume all of us in a video game forum know enough about games to know they Baldur's Gates lines were two different beasts. If you actually read my posts you would also have seen i was looking for a Gauntlet style game to play with my wife. Snowblind did a great hack and slash RPG.

I never played the second but I assume Black Isle did as well. It obviously wasn't a Planescape Torment but i can't imagine my wife would want to play Planescape Torment with me in 20 minute increments.

Have fun! There are a good number of older good games out there now that can be had for cheap. Just yesterday i picked up the Marvel Ultimate Alliance game for 6$.

True, but the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games (there were two, right?) were tons of fun, especially in co-op mode.
