Sorry I didn't post this sooner but I just happened to read this a few minutes ago. In the newest OXM, they have some article about achievement whoring and in a little caption at the bottom of the screen, it states: If you have Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway, make sure to play it on September 17 (while connected to Live) to get the "Remember September '44" Achievement (50G).

So there you go...a quick 50 points if you have this sitting on yourself. And I don't know if you can get this by changing your calendar since the mag mentions having to be on Live to get it. I just tried it and it gave it to me immediately on the menu screen without even having to load the game.

I know many of us have this from the recent BB sale when we were able to score the LE edition for 5 bucks.

achau and Chew, is this what you got as well? Mine came today and while it's nice to have, I sure wish it would have included 2 battery packs. I'm not really sure how useful it is only having one. Looks like it's compatible with the official ones as well, so maybe I should get another independently.

Cross-posted in 360/XBLA/RB/VGD threads, so apologies for all the duplication, just want it to hit everyone.

I got this from SD, but I'm sure it came from CAG in the first place. Dell has 4,000 MS points for $40, shipped (20% off):

It worked! Took a bit more work to get the belt in there than I thought, but once it was in, the door closed like a charm and the game started up w/no problem.

Played some RB2 last night. I'm really really bad at this  . Only 5 starred one song last night and this was all on Easy. I think I have some catching up to do.

I did notice that the screen kind of stuttered at times. I might move this from my projector to a regular plasma screen TV and see if that makes a difference later.

Lots of fun. Can't imagine I'll ever get beyond Medium on this though. Might try Beatles stuff tonight.

Glad you got it working Blade. Now we know who to go to when ours start failing. As for Rock Band, we all started on easy at one point in time. It's fun when things start to click and you'll be moving to medium in no time.

Yes, this is what I received as well. It is nice, as I have a plug right next to my futon in my back room, so it is right there if I need to swap during a game. My main dual charger is next to my console, and I'd (shudder) have to get up to swap batteries.

It also can charge via usb - which is nice.

i was always ok starting on medium. however, the leap from medium to hard seemed to be HUGE on all of these games (gh/rb). i recently got the hang of it but only when i realized that simply stretching the pinky wasn't going to work. it's far more helpful to do most of the work with the index/middle/ring fingers and just move them up and down the neck (more like a real guitar, d'oh). it took me a while to figure this out. anyway in short i'm trying to say that while it seems impossible all it really requires is a little practice. good luck!

Finally picked up an over priced 120GB HDD. Traded in my ps2 and some ps2 games for an even swap, however, the HDD is a used one. Hopefully there won't be any issues with it.

It did not come with the transfer kit, does MS still send them out for free, or are is anyone here generous enough to send one :)

I've heard that. Should be a fun jump. I guess part of it is just learning the songs and their patterns.

Have moved on to playing Medium. Much more fun. Living on a Prayer is a lot of fun. I have started watching Youtube videos on how to do stick tricks!

Today's challenge:

Get a stopwatch. Select your Game Library from the dashboard and time how long until all your games pop up -- the amount of time it takes to get the full listing from that loading screen. It seems to take a long time for me and I'm curious how long it takes the rest of you. I'll time mine when I get home.

Thanks to those who participate!

By full library, do you mean all the way from Aegis Wing to Zuma? Or just when the screen refreshes?

My answer. Slow.

And the worst part is that it doesn't cache the list...so if i go play a quick game of something, then want to jump to something else, it has to reload again.

Just until you see the Arcade Games and Indie Games listed. I want to see how long it takes to pop up on screen.

And L&O's right. Yesteday I accidently launced a demo I ment to delete and it took like a minute to even get back to see my XBLA list again. It's getting absurd.

Yeah..it was one of the things I was hoping the dashboard update was going to speed up. It didn't. I remember a few months back running through a bunch of Indie game demos and it taking longer waiting for the list of games to come back up than actually trying out the game itself. :(

Where's that achievement gif? Waiting on your games list to populate definitely should generate some gamerscore.

Great!

That and the "free" Fallout 3 theme should be enough for me for a long time.

Did you buy all 5 DLC expansions off the marketplace? That's apparently how you get it. I'm not sure how they will distribute it though. IIRC, it will be sometime in October.

Raul3 09-22-09 09:48 AM

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

Yeah. They are going to email a code to download the theme. Or send a message through Xbox Live with the code. Something like that.

It will, of course, also be available in the Marketplace so people can buy it (The Fallout 3 theme).

Is it going to be included in the GOTY edition like Mass Effect's was?

Doubtful, when I read about it the article mentioned this was more of a thank you to the fans that have stuck with them with all the DLC over the year. If you purchase everything separately those folks spent about $110 whereas the GOTY buyers are getting everything for almost half price.

In my case a little bit more than that since I bought the Survival Edition. :D

But after more than 200 hours of play time I think it was worthy.

I found a clearanced 120GB drive new for $37. Apparently it had been on the shelf for a while. MS sent me a new transfer kit for free a few weeks ago because the packed in one wouldn't recognize my 60GB drive for the transfer. There are two versions of the transfer software, one of which was made before the 60GB drive was in production so it won't even recognize it. I have heard people say they will charge $10-$12 for it in certain circumstances but I had no problem. Arrived 3 business days later. They will ask you for your console serial number. I would send you mine but I passed it on when I sold my 60GB drive.
