Local Toys R Us had 1600 point cards for $9.99. Awesome deal with an awesome catch. They can only sell you to them at that price if they use a sku. So none of the cards are activated. I tried to explain this to them, but they said they couldn't scan the cards because they ring up at $19.99 and the price can't be overridden. I finally gave up. I don't see this sale price listed online, so I have no idea why this store is selling them, but $9.99 for an unactivated card has to be a huge profit for Toys R Us.

That's supposed to be the clearance price for the old cards in the clamshell packaging. The pre-activated ones. My TRU is down to just having the bare, unactivated cards.

Yeah, it won't update through the console. I talked to tech support and they said it is a known issue and they are researching it.
So I thought somebody here may know where the update exists on the internet in file form so I can download it, burn it to a disc and update my console that way.

It's not the router. I can connect to live and then am prompted for the update but it fails everytime. Like I said, I spoke to tech support and they said it is a known issue with the update and they are attempting to fix but I thought if somebody knew where I could find the file, I wouldn't have to wait.

Thanks MC!
I downloaded the PlayOn trial and Hulu worked really great. I streamed Glee wirelessly, N adapter in my PC, wireless in my Xbox 360, and it delivered the whole pilot without issues.
So I bought the full version. That's a really good price. I also installed some plugins and some of them work really well.

Charles, I know what you're talking about. I actually went to the test network connection and saw the notice on the dashboard.
Unfortunately that's the only way to get the update. You're at the mercy of their servers. At least they're working on it.

Sigh.
I bought the 360 on release day and thought I'd been pretty lucky to not get the red ring of death yet. Then again, I've haven't really played it much since I solved Oblivion about 3 years ago....
So I finally decide to jump on the Rock Bandwagon, and just got RB2 in the mail today. Put everything together and went to eject the King Kong disc that had been in there for a year, but it won't open.
Various youtube/google searches later, I figure out how to take off the face plate and find the manual disc release button, so now I can put in the new disc. Only it won't close.
It won't close because the stupid rubber band that drives the door has broken.
Ordered a new drive belt through ebay, and now I get to wait for that to come in. The King Kong disc was working before I used the manual release, so hopefully once I get the belt in and put it in, everything will work again.
Was really looking forward to playing the drums this weekend too.
If I've missed a way to get this thing working, feel free to let me know, otherwise, thanks for reading my tale of woe.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
Lotsa 360 issues for us
AI was playing Batman and as I was quiting due to getting my ass kicked on Hard, I suddenly heard a "Click" noise like a switch, and both my Stereo Receiver and the 360 shut down...the scary part is the 360 RED RINGED
. SHIT!!!! It wasn't a full ring of Red but it was still a Red and that's enough to worry me after not having issues for some time now. So I turned the Receiver back on and it was ok, and I hit the power button on my 360 and it turned off and when I turned it on again, it came back up seemingly 'OK'.
I'm hoping the RED RING was just a "general error" and not a warning of things to come. Since both the Receiver and the 360 shut off I'm guessing it was a heat/power issue since they're both plugged into the same general power source.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/sy...temupdates.htm
But that reads as system updates for the console itself and not XBLive updates.
I think they are 2 different updates.

I am in Los Angeles at a Modern Warfare 2 press event where we just announced the Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Console. It is available for pre-order today at U.S. retailers, and in other regions later this week. The package includes the custom designed console, 250 GB hard drive, two wireless controllers and a standard edition of Modern Warfare 2 for US $399.99.

I'm not sure why they keep increasing hard drive options. The only way you can possibly fill up the 120 (and maybe even 60) is if you install all the games you have and have a ton of huge DLC (maps?) or rhythm game songs.
Until they let us put media files on there directly, I fail to see the point to increase the size of drives. I wonder when the 250gb will be available for purchase.

Agreed. I've got the 120GB and am nowhere near filling it up. I install only the games I'm currently playing, and once I beat them, I remove them off the HDD. I've got all of the RB DLC, but that only takes up 22GB at the moment. Couple that with the RB2 install and a couple other games and about 50 XBLA games, and I'm somewhere around half-full.

I have the 120 and after installing the Beatles last night (never took the time last week, too busy playing the game
) and I'm down to about 30GB. I've definitely used a lot more than I ever thought I would and I still clean things out from time to time.
The only retail games I have installed are COD:WaW and all the music games. The rest of that space is arcade games and add-ons.
