Is the number how long you've maintained gold status? I swear I should be a six going on seven in like January but I did let my account expire for a bit due to moving and having dial-up internet for a few months, but I subscribed to live again with the same tag and everything. BTW I'm showing as a 5 now.

You can pan the camera up and down for taking gamer pics.

It doesn't show my tenure yet.

Officially it started on 12/30 of 2006.

Alternatively, I tried the XBL Movie Party tonight and it was a blast. 2 friends of mine and myself watched "Band of the Hand", which was very, very funny. We've already planned a second movie.

I probably won't buy anything from the avatar marketplace. It would take something really special to get me to pay for clothes. Hopefully they continue to put the free stuff out there for those of us who don't want to pay.

Spoiler:
One of the features we shipped with the latest Xbox 360 dashboard update today is what we call Tenure. This is a number that appears when you are looking at Gamercards on your Xbox 360 console. It’s the number 5 you see at the top right of my gamercard above. This number will show how many years someone has been an Xbox LIVE Gold Member. Working with the team here, we’ve put together some answers to some of the frequent questions that we’ve seen in the Xbox forums.

Q. My tenure is not displaying at all!
A. The Gold Tenure is being rolled out to all Xbox LIVE users over the next few days. By next week, everyone who has at least 1 full year in Xbox LIVE Gold status will see their tenure.

Q. My tenure is exactly one year off. Why is that?
A. If you were a member of the Summer Update Preview and created your Gold Account on an Original Xbox console while living in Canada, your tenure won't update to the proper number of years until your account's next "birthday". For example; if you created your account on October 19th of 2003, your Gold Tenure will display properly on October 19th of 2009.

Q. I changed my gamertag 2 years ago because I didn't like it. Will that reset my tenure?
A. Changing your gamertag won't change your tenure, just like it doesn't change your gamerscore.

Q. I've been a member of Xbox LIVE since it began! I should have 7 years because it's 2009.
A. The very first gamertag, e, was created on 8/13/2002. e, as he is known both online and in real life, will turn 7 on 8/13/2009.

Q. My account was in Silver status for awhile, how does that affect my tenure?
A. All the time you spend in Gold is cumulative and any time you spend in silver doesn't count. For example if you created a gamertag on August 4th of 2007 but didn't upgrade it to gold until February 14th of 2008; today the Gold Tenure would be 1 year because the account spent 6 months of it's first year in Silver status.

Q. The article online says that if I had a 14 day break in my Gold account status, my tenure would reset! Is that true?
A. There is no "14 day gap in service" rule anymore. This was the original way tenure was calculated but we changed it. The KB article will be updated soon.

Q. I've been a member since 2006, why does my tenure only show a 2 when 2006 was 3 years ago?
A. Your Gold Veteran Status counts full years so if you've been a Gold member for 2 years, 11 months and 27 days; your status will display 2 years.

Q. The date in on the account details page on xbox.com says I've only been a Gold member for a couple months. When is that going to be updated?
A. The "Member Since" date that you see in the Account Management section on xbox.com and on your console is not the same as your tenure. That is the last time your profile was upgraded to gold (like the last time it auto-renewed or you applied a subscription code).

Q. Where can I go to see exactly when I paid for my Gold account?
A. You can login to Billing and Account Management to view your payment history. That will show you exactly when you were Gold vs. Silver. You'll need to login with the Windows Live ID associated with the GamerTag. (Click on your payment type and you'll be able to see your payment history).

I hope this answers some of the questions you may have had. If you have any more, post them in the comments and I can update this post as needed.

I'm just shy of 20000 gamer points and yet I have only completed 100% achievements on 1 game. Technically 2 games, as I finished Oblivion initially but I'm one achievement short on the expansion pack.

The props are tempting, but they should be free if you've purchased the original game (and before anyone points it out, I realize this would be difficult to verify for non-arcade games). Hopefully they'll be included as unlockables in future games.

Same basic in game achievements the Wii version had. Some of those goals are pretty tough to get. Can't wait to get these tables in HD.

Looking forward to getting this (cheap) for the 360. Not to be too dense, but I ddn't know the Wii had achievements. Are they just in-game or are they "global" like the other two systems?

In game only kind of like Wii Sports Resort.

I really cant see this being much of a graphical difference. I can see if it's something like the conduit. It's a Pinball game so I don't think there'll be a huge jump. Besides the wii controls are perfect for pinball.

I broke down and bought the bag of popcorn off the marketplace. I saw a few things I thought were cool but the popcorn was cheap and fitting with my movie addiction.

It sucks that you can't see the length of time someone has been on Live unless they are online. I can't see a way around that but maybe I am missing it. I had a six and was shocked it had been that long. I guess I blocked out those early days of Live on the original XBOX.

No, what sucks if if you were there at the beginning at took a year off or two. Now I have a massive 1 next to my name like I am a newbie. What's strange is I came back into the fray when Halo3 came out. Wasn't that 3 years ago?

I know it is just a number and to be honest, I don't really pay that much attention or look at that many people's gamercard...but it still hurts a little. ;)

My fault for taking the break I guess.

If your Live status reverts back to Silver for more than 14 days, you lose your number and reset back to 0.

So when you came back for Halo3 you used Spiderbite73, wasn't that the exact tag you used for Halo2?

Mine didn't revert back to a one, but it certainly took some time away from me somehow. I moved from an apartment with high speed to an area where dial-up was the only option so from approximately July 04 - November 04 I let my sub lapse as I was paying monthly prior to the release of Halo2, when it came out I started paying again.

My original tag was SPIDERBITE (all caps...didn't know any better at the time and it didn't have the numbers on the end).

When I came back, I spoke with MS and even though they confirmed that that was my original gamertag by name, address, credit card, etc., they said it was impossible to let me have it back. No good reason why but just said that it couldn't be done. I thought it was a bullshit excuse but nothing I could do about it.

I always hated having to put the numbers after my new gamertag since I was the original and actually ran into a couple of other "spiderbites" but who had numbers/xxx or whatever on the end of their names. Being the egotist that I am, I finally just decided to change my name completely without having to have numbers on the end since I was still irritated about not getting my original tag back.

Looking at the FAQ that Corvin posted, I guess my number might jump up to three once the anniversary of Halo3 comes out. I don't know...guess it doesn't matter in the great scheme of things unless they start doing some kind of specials for people with many years showing.

Once again MS comes up with yet another simple but brilliant idea just like achievements. You will want to keep your "year loyalty" number and will likely not want it to lapse once it gets to a certain point. Good show MS.

Even little things like this show how superior their network is compared to PSN. They actually think and innovate instead of follow.

And thank you to however fixed the buffering issue on the Netflix watching. Now you can fast forward and rewind and it not buffering for 10 to 15 seconds every time you do. And being able to search thru genres and new releases on Netflix is excellent and was what I was expecting the first time around. But where is the "horror" section???
