Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
So I finally got back 360 back a few weeks ago after having to send it back for repairs thanks to the RROD. Now I am having trouble refreshing my streaming media from my computer (using WMP 11). In the past, any changes I made the file directories would be viewable by the 360 pretty much right away, but now, the 360 is still showing a bunch of folders that were deleted weeks ago. I've added other folders to start the refresh process, but that doesn't even seem to work. What do I have to do to get this back in sync?

I've heard a few other people having problems with streaming also. I haven't really used streaming since I started using netflix

I was thinking that in all the generations of Gaming Systems over years the 360 has made me buy more games than ever. I have a huge stack of 360 games.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
I've been wanting a bigger HD for a while (just have the 20gb yet), but now through Dell you can get a 60gb Pro for $222 (includes LEGO Indy and Kung Fu Panda + Tom Clancy's Endwar) or an Elite with the same games for $319.
So how much would a 1.5 year old 20gb HDMI system be worth (I guess the fact it's been sent in for repair makes when I bought it moot?)? How about a non-HDMI 20gb system? Anybody sold one of either lately?
I'm thinking a 60gb would be fine, since the only things I'd have on it would be Rock Band DLC and a few games from disc that I'm playing at the time?
If I could get close to $150 for an old one, might be a no-brainer just to drop the $222?

I started the original F.E.A.R. this weekend. I recall reading that the game is pretty stingy with the achievement points but damn, I seriously underestimated how stingy. I'm more than halfway through the game and have gotten a measly 25 points.
The game is pretty fun though. Condemned with guns & bullet time(yes I know F.E.A.R. came first). It is odd seeing so much of the games assets that were in Condemned. It's like they just lifted them from F.E.A.R. and dropped them into Condemned (soda machines, chairs, desks, palettes of drywall, buckets, work shelves, lighting, etc.).

now... on that note.. after switching my media center pc to windows 7, i had issues getting the mediaplayer sharing setup correctly.. i could see the folders but not the files
so i just installed tversity and used that instead.. meh.. works at least as good, if not better (since it offers more extras and has netflix and hulu support coming).

I would've gladly given up some pay for those originals if they did achievement points with them. They should've just made a new category and assigned even a 500 point limit or something.

Thank you! I spent HOURS trying to get steaming working on my XP Pro computer using WMP 11. I had TVersity up and running in less than 10 minutes and it works great. I feel like I should be surprised that a third-party software worked better than streaming from a Microsoft PC and an MS app to a MS console, but I'm not.

Nah, seems to high. Damn Micro$oft. I can see why people would be enticed to re-play older games with the challenge of achievement points. I'm sure there could be fun and creative ones in the original X-Box titles. At the same time, I am sure some people don't care, just like some don't care about a $5 increase on some games, which sends some people into hypertension mode. A reason to pass is a reason to pass.

I found a nice surprise at Radio Shack today. They had the Microsoft Xbox360 controller (WIRED) clearance priced for $20.27. I got the last one at my location.
I had been needing a new controller for the longest time now. Eliminating the need for batteries is a big plus too.

Finally got my Xbox back after a RROD repair. They sent me a refurb unit back instead of my original. The one they sent back has a mfr date older than the one I had sent. Oh well, as long as it works!
Anyway, I have a few questions.
DRM transfer -- There was a paper insert which stated MS did the DRM transfer process for me and all I have to do is redownload everything after I sign in if I want to play what I purchased while not connected to Live.
1) I am always connected to Live unless my ISP is down or am having problems with my wireless connection so, I probably do not need to redownload anything right?
2) If I do want to redownload, do I have to redownload gamer pics and themes or just XBLA games, game add-on content, demos?
3) What about my Rock Band ACDC pack? I used the code to copy all the songs to my HD but do not have the disc anymore. I should redownload this as well so it works if I'm not connected to Live?
Finally, I use MAC filtering on my network as an extra security measure. My Xbox wireless adapter's MAC address was already in my approved filter list from before. However, when I tried to connect on this refurb unit, it would not connect to my network. After searching online, I had to add my console's MAC address to my filter list as well. This is new to me as I didn't have to do it before. Anyone know why or when this started?
Thanks

In answer to your redownload question, to play when not singed in (or when Live is down), you must redownload everything you might want to play or use (for me, that was the arcade games and add on content including all the RB tacks). The machine doesn't really download it all again, but rather just breifly downloads the DRM. Still it can be pretty time consuming.
I highly recommend you do it from the xbox.com site. You can go into your purchase history and queue up everything you want to download (there is a limit to the number of items in your queue, but it's pretty big), then go to your 360, turn it on, sign in and you can start downloading the transfers.

The only reason I'm playing COD4 on veteran is cause of the achievements. Damn achievements making me die hundreds of times.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
- Finish game w/o dying: any difficulty works, but the only save system is autosave so if you get five hours in and die, there is no way to go back 5 minutes to try again. I haven't gotten there, but from reading it looks like the final boss can cause an instant death if they touch you.
- finish the game w/o health boosters
- finish the game w/o using slo-mo
- finish the game using less than 500 rounds of ammo
shit like that. It seems like they wanted you to play the game through 3-4 times and spend a few hundred hours in MP to get them all. Given the 1 level design nature of the game, I don't see how anyone could sit through this more than twice, tops.
