I'm wanting more info on Alhambra, Puerto Rico, Cosmic Encounter, etc.

I'm also hoping Talisman will be resurrected.

Then there were rumors of Magic the Gathering coming in a CCG format of some kind. I want info on that.

You take what you can get. You can't get Talisman.

Speaking of which, did you see my thread for Blood Bowl?

I hadn't noticed it on here. I had discussed it a little bit on 8-Bit. I will look for your thread.

Looking forward to Puerto Rico myself. Another one that could be fun, but haven't heard anything about is RoboRally http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/18

I don't know about that... I mean I enjoyed playing Magic back in the day but I don't think it would translate very well as far as matching the true complexity of the game. Of course since it could be a continue revenue stream w/ boosters and expansions I suspect they will do it BTW didn't they already try this in one form or another though?

Did you ever play the old Magic:tG on the PC? It was great! It handled all the rules bickering (timing issues and the like) and even if you disagreed with how it was handled it was at least consistent.

In that game you got a few basic packs and played against the computer. As you beat the computer you could buy new packs with in-game money to tailor your deck.

If they made a game like that on Live i would be all over it. DLC would then consist of one purchase for all the cards for each expansion. Then the player would be forced to spend in-game money (ie. not MS points) earned through winning to "buy" packs from that expansion.

It would provide a steady DLC income as we pay 10$ a pop for each expansion but it wouldn't drive people off due to having to pay for pack after pack.

I am looking forward to Puerto Rico so i can learn how to play it. I have had the board game in my closet for over a year now and have never even opened it.

edit: RoboRally would be great as well. Personally, i would like to see some folks take some of the games on Super Duper Games.com and put them on Live with decent graphics. Tons of Icehouse and Piecepack games on that site.

I played the online M:TG quite a bit back in the day. It was well implemented, and a lot of fun. It's still alive and well today.

I have RoboRally as well. It's essentially a programming game. You don't control your robot directly, instead you "program" it with the cards in your hand in order to meet certain goals. You can set up the board any way you want, so there's a lot of reply value.

Well the one that is alive now is the one where you buy individual packs of cards at retail and get digital copies. It also lets you convert digital copies to real life copies.

The game i am talking about was called Duel of the Planeswalkers and required one investment up front. All packs and things were bought with in-game winnings. It was very similar to the Yu-Gi-Oh games on the DS.

I remember that game as well. I think the chances of it being implemented on Live are just about nil since they can make far more money by charging real money for the packs.

But how? To have the random nature of a pack you would have to be able to buy things multiple times. Live is hard coded to allow you to redownload purchased content for free. Would they have packs 1-200 to buy individually? Sell the cards individually?

I think my proposal would work well within the current system. The basically sell you a pool of potential cards and you have to unlock them in game. That pool could be priced at 10 or 20$.

There used to be this third party program that let you play magic online. I think they even had pictures or at least descriptions. You would go through a listing of all the cards and pick out which ones you wanted. It was a very simple interface. I haven't played since 4th edition so it was a rather old program.

Leave it to xmiyux to shit all over a thread. It's a standard progression for him though, board games, hippie vegetarian bullshit, and then shitty nerdcore music.

Didn't Wizards of the Coast discontinue the original online Magic game because they couldn't rape you for expansion packs?

Sony, of course, tried a CCG with their (I think superior) camera and real cards, however, the cards were still easy to fake, and the game kinda fizzled out. Still, they charged you for the OPPORTUNITY to use cards from the expansion sets, which you still had to buy packs of separately (and which must not have done all that well, since I never saw them in Target, which carried the initial sets).

Go play Culdcept instead... it's not the same, of course, but it's a decent card/board game for the 360, and it can be had for cheap.

They really need a separate section of Music Game Add-Ons.

Hey! We are talking about how the games could be brought to live.

Man, if only i could put moderators on my ignore list.

I played a good bit of Culdcept and it was one of the most infuriating games ever. I loved the CCG aspect of it and the deck building but the random die roles, being forced to watch the computer fight itself, and the lack of resigning when the game was essentially over killed it for me.

I have said it once. I will say it over and over.

I want a new Phantom Dust.

Yes, it was called the Apprentice.... or Wizard's Table... or something like that.

The issue with it is you had to do everything (tap cards, remove dead ones from the table etc.) and since nothing was automated it lead to rules lawyering. The reason the Live interface would be awesome on something like this is the automation of those tasks.

There is a seperate tab where you can see all of the Music Game Add-Ons.

Unfortunately (for you), it also shows up in the "All Game Add-Ons" section.

I just like see what new has been released but it's impossible to do so because it's polluted with music game tracks.

Yeah, any demos that pop onto Live will be on that feed, and most add-ons as well.
