The game will come bundled with the Gametrak Freedom (also referred to simply as “Freedom”) handset utilizing PDP’s proprietary and exclusive motion based technology. Launching in fall 2009, “Squeeballs” and Freedom will bring motion-based fun and physical party play to the Xbox 360 for the first time. Squeeballs are 12 adorable, small, cuddly toy characters that are manufactured on a remote and secret island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. As part of the requirements before they can be sold to happy children around the world, Squeeballs must be fully put to the test…to the point of destruction! That’s where the gameplay begins. You will blow up, cook, slice, bat, bowl, shoot and skim the Squeeballs through over 150 mini-game challenges, all the while using the Freedom motion handset to pull, stretch, throw, spin, shake, weave, fly and slide your way through the games. The game is primarily targeted for children 6 to 13, but is designed to also appeal to the Casual Game and Family Game genres. Though Squeeballs sounds like something sailors pick up on while on shore leave in Southeast Asia. |

Absolutely. If I wanted a kiddie game that makes rudimentary use of motion control, I'd buy a Wii. Still, perhaps there's technology there that might make other sorts of games enjoyable.
I think it looks cute and kind of fun except for the disturbing grinding up the cute creatures. If they are trying to tap into the kid and family audience it is probably a bad idea to introduce cute little anthropomorphic characters and then grind them up on screen. |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
You know one of the biggest problems I have with letting my nearly-3 year old play around with the 360? It's WAY too easy to accidently buy something. He recently bought me a Rock Band track I wasn't planning on purchasing (Alien Ant Farm, it's not too bad actually). I know if I sign out that won't happen, but I have to sign in for him to watch the crap he likes on Netflix like Dora. Is there some way to safeguard your purchase with a password or something?

Even the microsoft-made camera is barely used. |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
Interesting. I would've expected Microsoft to release an official motion controller. Seeing it come from a 3rd party is a little weird.
I noticed that PDP is also putting out a Wii version of Squeeballs. Will we start to see other 3rd party games launch on both Wii and 360 because of this? Or will it be a flash in the pan as fuji suggested? I'd guess the latter since every Wii out there has a motion controller while only a small percentage of 360s will end up with this device. Still, might be a good option for gamers with kids who don't own a Wii. |

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
Anyone here know anything about this new game, "Damnation"? It looks cool but it seems to have come out of nowhere. I read some stuff from '08 on teamxbox but that's it.

Ugh...I really don't want to have to upgrade my Zune, but I also really don't see how I can't. Maybe it'll be some ridiculous price to keep it out of my thoughts.
