Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
<strike>Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer spoke at the Executive's Club of Chicago today, informing attendees that a new Xbox 360 will arrive in 2010, one equipped with a "natural interface" and built-in camera.</strike>
http://kotaku.com/5295898/report-mic...riving-in-2010 <strike>I guess it's not a rumor anymore, or somebody forgot to tell Ballmer.</strike> Update : Today, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer indicated that the company would be releasing a new Xbox 360 in 2010, one featuring a built-in camera. That seemingly confirmed a new hardware configuration with the company's Project Natal built-in. Microsoft's official word? While Ballmer's casual mention of a new Xbox 360 hardware iteration at the Executive's Club of Chicago seemingly confirms a rumor originating from 1UP, Microsoft's Director of Product Management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Aaron Greenberg told Kotaku "There will be no new console." "We're not going to be launching a new console any time soon," Greenberg said during a phone call today. "I really believe he was speaking about Project Natal." "We want to make sure people know that we're excited about Project Natal," Greenberg noted, "But we're barely halfway through this generation. We're happy with the Xbox 360, so there are no changes from that standpoint. For the time being, we're really just showing a whole new category of gaming." Asked if Microsoft was at least considering putting the hands-free motion controller technology into a new Xbox 360 configuration, Greenberg said "Yes, we have looked at that, but we haven't announced any details for something like that." Nor has the company announced a ship date or final name for the motion-sensing camera tech it debuted at E3 2009, Greenberg added. "We are saying that the Natal will run on the Xbox 360, so there's no new hardware to purchase," Greenberg said, reiterating the company's position on its current generation platform. "What we're doing that's unique is, instead of asking you to invest in a new generation of hardware, a generation that's already well established, extending the experience even longer by adding this whole new category of experiences with Project Natal." "We're changing the rules a little bit just like we did with the New Xbox Experience," he said. We've requested a transcript of Mr. Ballmer's speech from Executive's Club of Chicago and will follow up when and if it becomes available. http://kotaku.com/5296104/microsoft-...no-new-console |

Oh.
So it'll be like the Arcade, Pro and Elite -- but include a Natal. So when all is said and done, it'll be another Sku on a long list of Skus. I guess Microsoft wants to keep ahead of the curve on that account, after all the different bundles, pros, arcades, elites, Halo editions, etc; I think it's ahead of the PS3 and its every changing lineup as well. I recommend the Microsoft Wii60 myself. It'll be the arcade bundle with the Natal and some pack-in "mini-games" for $249. ' |

HELP!
My son went to play Worms today and it said an update was available. He said yes, and now the system locks up at the dashboard. I called xbox and they said it was $120 to repair since it is no longer under warranty. WTF! Is there anything else I can do to either back out the update or get this back up and running? |

Try taking the Hard Drive off too and see if it's related to any data on there. Probably not, but removing variables never hurts.

I'll see if I can move that quick before it locks up on me. The problem has been that I can't even get to the system box before it freezes.

Activision Threatens to Stop Supporting Sony Platforms "It's expensive to develop for the [PS3], and the Wii and the Xbox are just selling better." By Steve Watts, 06/19/2009 Publishers have been calling for a PlayStation 3 price drop for some time now, and Activision is starting to take the gloves off. Times Online reports that Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has threatened to potentially stop supporting Sony platforms if a price cut doesn't stimulate sales of the console. "I'm getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don't make it easy for me to support the platform," he said. "It's expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and Xbox are just selling better. Games generate a better return on invested capital on the Xbox than on the PlayStation." "They have to cut the price, because if they don't, the attach rates are likely to slow. If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony." He isn't claiming this will happen anytime soon, citing 2010 and 2011 as dates when they "might want to consider if we support the console - and the PSP too." Sony Computer Entertainment Europe gave a standard no comment to VG247, saying they "respect our third-parties' opinions and their right to express those opinions." Meanwhile popular financial analyst Michael Pachter calls the move a bluff. "Of course Bobby's bluffing, and good for him. I think Bobby's obviously interested in Sony selling as many PS3s as they possibly can, and he's not happy with their penetration so far." Of course, rumors have been circulating that Sony is already planning a price drop for this fall's booming holiday season. If one is coming that soon, it seems unlikely that Kotick's threat for 2010 would impact the timing of it. But if the rumors aren't true and Sony doesn't announce a price cut for the fall, we're likely to see even more publishers upset with the company. |

The douche is totally full of shit, but it's still interesting to hear a company speak out about it. |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
He better hope so, otherwise it's an obvious console bash ;)

I'd try disconnecting everything attached to the console and starting it up. If that works, go through and add one thing back at a time. I had a similar problem a couple months ago and it turned out to be something with the HD-DVD drive.
But it was really slow to load up the dashboard with that in and it would lock up at random times. Max, did you have Worms too? It would be weird if there was a patch that conflicted with the HD drive and now that patch has simply been rolled off for other updates. |

Buy.com's eBay account is selling 12-month subscription cards for $27.99. There are 3000 left as of now, but I don't think they will last very long, so I wouldn't wait if you are interested. |
Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
Solid deal. Unfortunately I'm good until 2011 already.

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest

Re: The Official Xbox 360 thread - thread hardest
Does anyone have any suggestions for sending back your 360 now that they don't send a coffin? Should I just buy a box that's about the size of my console?
