Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
According to Destuctoid, someone with an unauthorized copy of Unplugged dug in and found files referencing a bunch of Green Day songs. Which could mean that they're on their way to RB as those DLC files showed in the past.

yeah, Green Day in the "real" Rock Band will be amazing...and then "The Adventure" by Angels and Airwaves is one of my all time favorite songs!

Stoked for that Green Day track listing, although it's a bit heavy on American Idiot for my tastes. But I really hope "Basket Case" and "When I Come Around" eventually make an appearance. Hell, all of Dookie would be fucking amazing.
"The Rock Show" was one of the last Blink 182 songs I liked, so I'm looking forward to that too.

The fact that "When I Come Around" isn't on the list makes me wonder if it might end up on LEGO RB. If that whole thing is legit, of course.

I will get anything by Green Day they put out. My personal Holy Grail would be "Jesus of Suburbia". All of Dookie and/or American Idiot would be epic.

Green Day has been one of the Glaring bands missing from all music games that is a huge modern rock group.. Bout time to see some rumors of them joining. I am in for anything Greenday.

Green Day has been in blackout mode but now that their new album is here they are in full promo mode again so I'm sure you will be seeing them all over the place. That makes me sound like some kind of big GD fan, actually I just happen to work with them sometimes.

DLC post is mostly updated (still trying to find TSB drums). The Replacements' song that was supposed to hit last week made it out this time, so we've got a total of 10 for the week.
The Alice Cooper stuff all looks pretty damned good. I'll be grabbing that pack later today, for sure!

It's actually amazing what the sound guys at Harmonix can pull off when you hear the quality of these songs now compared to what they sound like on the CD. I still cringe everytime I see something say (Live), but I keep getting pleasantly surprised.
I survived the AC pack on guitar. It was brutally fun, with those kinds of solos where you almost have to stop to try to see exactly what is going on. But I didn't feel like any of it was just unnecessary (well, the giant BRE in "I'm Eighteen" was a little much, but pushed me to gold stars). I'm anxious to get a break this afternoon and play through again.
Then I tried the Replacements song, which is an alt-strumming, chordy nightmare. Just the speed and weirdness of the chart is a good reminder of how fun the majority of the Cooper pack is. I love the song itself, but if I don't play it again anytime soon, I'll be okay with that.

I thought they were the worse live songs so far. Poison was more fun than I expected it to be.
And I realized TBS is a one hit wonder to me.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
I'd say "I'm Eighteen" sounds the better of the two, mainly because between the opening spoken parts and the rough bridges, the vocals on "School's Out" are the sketchiest of the bunch, IMO. They both have sing-alongs, but the cool part is that it seems they used the live audience, yet have them on a separate track. So they act the same as one of the recorded audiences in the other sing-alongs if you're not performing well. If I'm wrong and it's not the actual live audience, they are two of the best recorded audiences in the game.
On guitar, "I'm Eighteen" has its challenging moments, but "School's Out" is almost a shock to the system compared to the easy GH3 chart. Very difficult. I know you're a drummer, but even if I'd tried the drum charts, my weak input there wouldn't be much help.

I'll be out of town next week and will not have the ability to play anything new that comes out. Therefore I can say with utmost certainty that Friday's announcement will be amazing.

All of the Cooper tracks are fun on drums, though I couldn't get through Under My Wheels on my first (and currently, only) attempt.

Sorry, but that's like one of my biggest OCD pet peeves. Say that out loud and ask yourself if it sounds right.
Anyway, I don't think the Alice Cooper ones are that bad. In my mind nothing sounds worse than the AC/DC track (you wanna piss off your vocalist and have her storm off to the bedroom fuming and then you won't be getting any tonight because of the pure evil it is to replicate Brian Johnson vocals live, there you go), and they're not even all that fun to play. But the AC tracks aren't as sweet as the Thin Lizzy ones from a few months ago. I also enjoy a blumpkin.

I've played through the Alice Cooper pack twice on guitar. It's pretty rockin'. I like the live stuff because it gives a different spin on the songs. School's Out was a piece of cake on GH3, but I believe I came close to failing the solo on the pack.
I failed out on I'm Eighteen twice (still haven't passed it), and Vengeance Is Mine has a pretty tricky second solo. Slash's work on that track is awesome though. I love how his playing style translates to plastic guitar. It's so great.
All of the tracks are very enjoyable from a guitarist's perspective. I'll give 'em a run on vocals tomorrow, perhaps.

Nothing like blumpkin fumes.
I always throw lines like that at the end of a rant, to see if anyone is actually paying attention. My dreams have been fulfilled.
