Maybe a pass for many, but I am all over this!

Heck yeah. Drive-By Truckers and the Old 97s would be a lot of fun.

I love how out of touch HMX is with trying to keep things under wraps.

It is kind of funny, considering that a lot of the smaller artists, or even GnR with the new album, would probably appreciate (and benefit more from) a little advanced promotion.

So just like the album, the DLC is delayed :)

Maybe Axl wants to take yet another stab at these songs.

Did this album tank? I know on NYC radio they were playing that first song like once an hour the first week the album was out, but since then I don't think I've heard it once.

Shackler's Revenge is my 2nd least favorite song in RB2, only ahead of Visions. I hope they release some real GNR.

I think they just use it as a way to generate revenue on the web site. Do they have ads o nthe forums there? If so, then that's all the shit is - a way to get hits.

Harmonix has addressed that before. They said they get no increased website revenue at all from more hits (no ads).

It certainly seems like a way to keep a bit of the buzz going, though, from week to week.

I'm definitely in the minority here. Fratellis. Yes. Axl doing anything. Probably. Drive by Truckers. Yes. Steve Earle. Yes. Pearl Jam... eh. I'm sure they'll be fun to play, but damn, I was never a big PJ fan and I've still heard these songs a billion times each. Keep serving me all the side dishes, I guess.

I for one will get the entire Chinese Democracy album... I still love that album, and I was never a big GnR guy, but love CD.... Big ole pass on the Alt-Country crap, but stoked about CD officially coming out sooner or later.....

I listened to the Drive By Truckers on their myspace and really dug the music. I will buy that.

I'm not sure i will buy all of Chinese Democracy.

I'm in for Henrietta and Creepin Up the Backstairs next week. Not familiar with any of the alt-country stuff - I'll have to listen to them once specific tracks are announced. As for Chinese Democracy, I'd cherry pick a few tracks, but I definitely don't need the whole album.

I'd put PJ's Alive in the top 3 tracks in RB2 and GNR's Shackler's Revenge in the worst 3 tracks. Based on the fun factor of those two tracks alone, yes, I'll take Ten over Chinese Democracy any day of the week. Ten is timeless(no matter how much you've heard it), and CD is a flash-in-the-pan album that will forever be known for it's 10 year development, not the content contained within. It's another topic entirely, but it's not even GnR in my book, it's an Axl Rose solo effort. I was never into GnR like everyone else, but have to say this discussion would be WAY different if the album in question were Appetite and not CD.

As for the others, unless it's Willie Nelson, I have zero interest in country tracks whether it's classic country, pop-country, alt-country or whatever they want to call it. I did enjoy the three Fratelli tunes, but it's not something I want to drop $5 on.

Give me Appetite for Destruction or Use Your Illusion I or II, but not Chinese Democracy.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Me too. I see what they're trying to do with new tracks/albums on these new venues, and it's definitely a novel new revenue stream and marketing tactic, but I'd generally rather rock out to songs I'm familiar with.
That said, I have bought, played, and enjoyed lots of tracks I've never heard before, so it's not by any means 100% familiarity. I think I'm also not too enamored of new popular music anyway.

Can;'t believe I'm saying this, but I'm interested in that alt-country pack. I guess no one knows if it's a physical disk or downloads, I hope there's more than one song available from each artist.

Every announced upcoming DLC is meh to me except for Nothing's Shocking which I've about given up on LOL. Oh well....it's not like I don't have 500+ songs to play.

I'm really wanting that album as well.

Or at least Jane Says.

I'm getting an Arctic Monkeys vibe from the Fratellis...never heard them before.

I might actually have to get the DLC this week.

Yeah, I've been patiently waiting for SRV. :( When were those albums announced? I want to say October-ish? I think 3 months in advance is about as early as they should announce albums, at least albums like these that aren't going to be loved by the masses. I'd prefer only a few weeks, so they aren't forgotten by the time they finally are released.

So I'm playing Med guitar on Rock Band 2.... why are the majority of world tour cities only giving me the Hard and Expert modes as options? Yeah, that's just awesome...

Maybe a pass for many, but I am all over this!

love DBT (one of the best if not the best American bands today)
however, I don't want 3 Dimes Down or anything else recent from them

give me tracks from "The Dirty South" and "Decoration Day" and my wallets opens

It's funny how you can describe certain bands. The Fratellis are a Mac product commercial band. I'm sure quite a few bandwagon Obamaliberals will pick it up. I'd much rather have music from Geico commercials. Royksopp, Rockwell, The Sounds!

Not even gonna give Ten a listen. I'd be wasting my time on forgettable music made by hacks. CDemoc is iffy since Better is horricrap. SRV is interesting but there's gotta be more legit album announcements that people can be interested in, even if they don't come out for a while. Here's hoping for Bang Camaro's whole new album, or Abnormality's album, or some other bonus song lovin'. Maybe new game tie-ins? Street Fighter Soundtrack Pack!
