THIS! I want GNR, not Axl and his shitty back-up band.

Then dont!

Like someone said, if this sells well (read... if this makes Axle money), more GnR to come... I really dug this album (I like Buckethead style guitar even though i suck at playing it), so still stand by that this is one of the best albums I have heard in a long time

If I can get classic GNR eventually, then I may have to bite.

The suits have already won :)

Trust me, more GnR will be on the way because it'll sell 100x more than this album. This is just a way to get your cash with a fake promise that IF you buy it, THEN they'll give you the stuff you really want. I call shenanigans. They'll get Appetite out there because it'll make them an assload of cash NOT because we buy this DLC.

I'll buy the old GnR stuff it ever comes out, but not this stuff.

It was Axl's remark in an interview, not any "suits."

ETA: I'm not saying anyone should buy it on the promise or hope that it will lead to AfD/Slash-era stuff. Just pointing out that it's being released much the same way as Crue was. To me, this just looks like them saying "Fine, we'll release this for you if it pays the entry fee to get us into the classic stuff."

I'm not buying this. I don't care if we never get Appetite or November Rain because of it.

DVDTalk Challenge #6
The Free Challenge

Harmonix have released several free tracks into our song libraries over the past year or so. This Challenge will showcase the ones longer than 90 seconds.

Description: play Miranda Cosgrove - Headphones On on vocals, Vesuvius - Promised Land on guitar, and GLaDOS - Still Alive on drums. Highest overall score will be declared the winner.

How Long: 1 Week. Challenge ends 12AM EST on Monday, 4/13/09. Submissions can be made by <strike>sending me</strike> sending rabbit77 a PM with screenshots.

Only 3 entries so far... guess the $10 BB card to the winner doesn't drum up any additional interest. :(

I wasn't going to embarrass myself with my drumming and guitar but i hate to see so few entries. I will try to hook something up this evening. :)

I think my girlfriend and I will start doing these contests....we won't win them since expert (even hard) drumming is not happening :)

we will try both the contests tonight hopefully....

That's all I was looking for from people as well. Just a chance for us all to play the same songs during the week. It gives a nice little diversion from the DLC bitching. :)

...And yes, pinata, I forwarded your scores to rabbit, as well as UncleGramps' scores.

I keep wanting to jump in, but Vesuvius is terrible and I have zero interest in downloading that other free track. The new challenge looks interesting though.

Well you will have company. I do medium on both guitar and drums since I mainly do vocals.

I put in scores for challenges 6 and 7... someone let me use their camera on Easter here. Stupid vocals will probably kill any chance I had :(.

Terribly awesome!

Headphones On is fuck-awesome! The best free DLC yet!

Promised Land is not bad at all. It's got a fairly hefty solo over a decent chart.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I have to admit, my opinion of Headphones On rose as a result of this challenge. It's cheesy kids' pop, but it's pretty catchy nonetheless.

That Vesuvius track sounds like it would have been a huge hit in the 80s, I love it.

Okay, I'm an idiot, but maybe someone can help...I have the Guitar Hero World Tour guitar, bought Rock Band 1 for cheap yesterday, it should be compatible, which it seems it is, but for some reason the game won't let me go anywhere because I don't have a mic attached...tried Solo career, and gives me the error, cannot proceed w/o mic, hit return to continue, I hit return and it goes back to menu, tried options, tried creating new profile, and it won't let me change anything, just has my name (which I'm guessing it got from PS3 settings with a 4 in (), anyway, if anyone has a clue, I'd appreciate it...

You need to use the guitar or drum controller to navigate the menus.
If you use the regular controller it will expect you to have a mic.
