I've got scores for this contest, but I forgot to submit them last night. They are pitiful and my calf hurts from trying to learn how to drum. :)

RB DVDChallenge #6 is in the books, but I'm blocked from seeing all the pictures here at work so I can't tally the scores until I get home around 6pm CST.

Thanks to all who played though.

MTV Games and Paramount Pictures Take STAR TREK and Rock Band(R) 'Where No Man Has Gone Before'

First-of-its-Kind Promotion to Rock Fans During Month Lead-Up to the Film's Release on May 8, 2009

NEW YORK, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- MTV Games and Harmonix's Rock Band(R) are joining forces with Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment to celebrate the May 8th theatrical release of the film STAR TREK from director/producer J.J. Abrams. The first-of-its-kind collaboration will fuse together the massive cultural followings of both STAR TREK and the video game phenomenon Rock Band to engage fans with free music, an in-game battle of the bands, and futuristic avatar creation contest.

Beginning today, fans can register for a 15-day sweepstakes that will give away 500 free Rock Band Music Store downloads each day from April 7th through April 21st for the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360(R) and PlayStation(R)Store for PlayStation3.

And if that's not enough - fans will want to fire up Rock Band 2's online Battle of the Bands mode to participate in the STAR TREK Ultimate Battle. Bands of three to four players can battle the Rock Band galaxy. The band with the highest score will win a STAR TREK hometown movie screening for their band and their friends. Additionally, twenty randomly selected players will win an awesome STAR TREK/Rock Band prize pack equipped with STAR TREK and Rock Band gear. The Battle of the Bands component will begin on April 20th and run through April 27th.

The Rock Band and STAR TREK promotion will culminate when the first-ever avatar creation contest launches on April 27th. Fans will be asked to create a futuristic avatar in-game and export it to RockBand.com for the community and Harmonix team to judge the winner. The Duke of Gravity will ultimately decide which avatar has what it takes to rock with the Enterprise crew. The winner will be chosen on May 11th and win "The Future is Now" prize pack including the top of the line Rock Band game accessories.

For more information on Rock Band and STAR TREK's collaboration, visit www.ROCKBAND.com\StarTrek.

STAR TREK opens in theatres worldwide on Friday, May 8th.

Do you keep the footpedal depressed when not hitting it? That's probably the best tip I ever got.

Wasn't there a quote a few weeks back that we should be seeing Nothing's Shocking before April is out?

As far as I recall, that, Snoop, and the PSP Unplugged Exclusives are the only things we know are coming. Is there anything I'm forgetting?

I've tried that but it doesn't seem to work well, especially for a song like Still Alive which has quick succession kick hits. I have to be "primed" to kick, I guess because I'm so bad at it. I also have trouble just leaving my heel on the ground and trying to rock my foot because I seem to register double hits or my foot moves on it's own. I basically have it suspended in the air for most of the song just having the tips of my toes on the pedal.

I have the RB:WT kit if that makes any difference.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

The pedal for the World Tour set is already lower to the ground than the RB kit, IIRC, making it tougher to use in the manner everyone else is discussing.

mordred - check this dudes videos for a good foot style, this is pretty much what I try to do as well even though I use the stock pedal.

A little more on the "Anvil" songs.

http://www.avclub.com/articles/anvil...-kudlow,26572/

The A.V. Club: Were you in the studio before this interview?

Lips: I just got home now. We had to re-record a couple songs from the second album for Rock Band.

AVC: Oh really?

L: Yeah, because the original 24-tracks got destroyed. Or they’re lost, whatever. And we need the multi-tracks.

AVC: Have you played Rock Band?

L: No, haven’t gotten around to it.

AVC: When did that come together?

L: I don’t know. The last few weeks, I guess?

AVC: When is it going to be available?

L: We’re doing it now, so probably soon.

AVC: How was it re-recording those old songs?

L: Really easy. Shocking. [Laughs.] I mean, like, really shocking how quickly you can get through stuff when you know it that well. You know what you have to do instead of not knowing for sure.

AVC: Which songs were you re-recording?

L: “Metal On Metal,” “666.” And we also did a song for the soundtrack. We finally recorded “Thumb Hang.” That’s just for the soundtrack.

A decent turnout on that challenge. Not as many as usual, but again, that's due to Headphones On. I'm sure if there was no prize involved, I'd probably be the only participant. :)

Rumor about some upcoming DLC. As you can see, this is slated for today, but Microsoft Germany's PR probably screwed up and pulled an "Offspring". This should be coming at some point though.

Finally we get some Franz.

And if I was Harmonix, I would keep pumping out GH1/80's material on DLC.

Whatever...from a business standpoint...they have had a year and a half to make all these "Smash Hits" release pointless.

Yes, there's even a note on the Wikipedia page about it. I really want Nothing's Shocking.
