Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I also like the live version of Alive...seems a bit easier.

State of Love and Trust is terrific.

Brother is just OK.

I can't fucking believe that I just paid 30 for a CD! Well...two CDs and DVD and a couple of RB tracks, I guess. I'm rationalizing it as 5 for the RB songs, 12 for the DVD and 13 for the two CDs. I know it's crazy, but it makes it a bit more palatable!

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

"Don't Stop Believing" is finally coming to Rock Band next week!!!!!

The oft-requested song is due for inclusion in next week's batch of DLC, which hits Xbox 360 on Tuesday, March 31 and PlayStation 3 the following Thursday, April 2. The track will presumably carry the traditional Rock Band DLC pricing of 160 Microsoft Points ($2).

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

To be fair, they didn't say if it's part of a pack or not, just that it's "in next week's batch."

I'm thinking Journey is this 'mega' artist that blogger was talking about. They were huge, and the press got to play it a week early. Check and check. Forget that Lenny Kravitz nonsense.

Yeah, true, hopefully it is in a pack of some sort.

I never stopped believing!

I'm with this being the mega artist announcement. I was wondering how the fuck they were going to follow up Ten.

FWIW, shacknews is the only place reporting this is coming next week. Joystiq and Destructoid both say there's no release date announced.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

There's a video in Joystiq of some people (RB employees?) playing "Don't stop believing" in Rock Band. I think that's from last night's party.

About Ten. I loved SOLAT! It sounds just great, I didn't play Brother or Alive but reading the good comments here I'll check that today. I played most of the songs from the album, Once, Porch, Jeremy, Black was just excellent, maybe my favorite song ever. I also loved Release, it almost made me drop a tear.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I'll have to wait till tomorrow for PSN update (can't imagine why they haven't changed to same day as 360 across the board).

I can't wait to play Black and Porch.

I would have traded any (or all) of the bonus tracks for Yellow Ledbetter. I'd love to mumble my way through that on vocals!

Sorry, my work's firewall didn't show it.

I have to use Google reader to access all of those gaming sites.

Oh dear god please. Massive pack, please.

Pretty cool to see Alex R. playing the drums there.

Actually, Expert Drums in RB is fairly close to playing drums in real life. There's a lot of techniques and patterns that carry over, so it's a pretty easy transition for real drummers. I don't play real guitar at all, and can barely play a plastic guitar, but people who do say that it doesn't translate quite as well. I guess it's just a lot of practice to get good at either instrument. Although I don't seem to be getting any better at those crazy runs on guitar in many solos...

Best music game news since Journey Escape! for the Atari 2600. (Someone had to say it.)

I play piano and guitar and the piano skills definitely translate much more to the plastic axe than real guitar.

For me, when it comes to the drums, the foot pedal is the biggest wall I need to break through, especially in sections that get quick double hits, like at the end of Alive.

Good to see Don't Stop Believin make its way. I'm sure fellow White Sox fan bunkaroo will also be picking this one up.

I think I like the part after the ellipses.

I live in Tulsa, where there's nothing, and therefore the code is really just a figment of my imagination. Sorry, buddy.

I think they all look pretty fun. That guy uses breakneck speed on expert, so it gives me a headache watching them, but it's all I could find. And they all sound good for live versions. Nice solos as well. Hopefully they get put up on the marketplace soon.
