Yeah, that song is crazy, but lots of fun. I think it took me about 7-8 tries to pass it. Passing it on sightread is impressive.

Based on the expert video for "Rude Mood" I don't know if I will be able to pass it on hard. Still going to get the full album this weekend.

I really don't know what it was about that Old 97s song. It felt like I was just starting out with the drums again. For whatever reason, I couldn't hit those alternating red and pedal. There was serious disconnect between my right foot and left arm.

I was really surprised by how much fun that Lucinda Williams song turned out to be.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

The Lucinda Williams song is really good.

So this evening i spent about 20 minutes teaching my 4-year old how to maneuver the menus and set her loose on no-fail mode to sing whatever she wants.

So far it is has been alternating Grateful Dead songs and Rebel Girl by Bikini Kill.

Also, took photos of my score for Lump and You Oughtta Know. I'm curious how scoring will work between me doing vocals and the instruments with notes. Will someone playing guitar inherently have an advantage over a bass player on the same difficulty due to number of notes? I'm not competitive enough to actually care, but i am curious.

Did you get the Dixie Chicks song as well? It has a fairly similar pattern to Time Bomb on the red and the pedal. I find that one surprisingly fun to play too.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

My challenge 1 scores were pretty crappy but I still managed a combined 420k so be glad I didn't enter! Challenge 2 is a bit better with two 100% for a total of a little over 470k.

Can't wait to get Texas Flood and play through it all tomorrow on notdrums. It still is a steaming pile of trashcrap compared to the packs in the pipeline like the WWE Theme Music one due out around Wrestlemania 25

WWE Theme music in Rock Band? Seriously? That would be awesome.

That would be cool, and I'd love to see the little guitar-heavy theme they used from Wrestlemania 6-8 as a free (or real cheap) throw in, similar to the Top Gun song GH put out a while back.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Rude Mood was my 2nd favorite song in the pack right behind Texas Flood to play. Those HO/PO sections are so much fun! With Texas Flood today and Ten on the 24th, the rest of the releases are really irrelevant to me, this month is the best DLC month ever .

Also, if you see me on tonight and want to get some full (or near) band action going, throw me an invite.

Slightly O/T and I'm not sure if anyone dug them as much as I did, but I signed up for the Ghost Hounds newsletter a few weeks back and it looks like their debut CD is due out in April. If you sign up for the newsletter you can download Ashes to Fire for free.

Wow! Thanks! That's high praise coming from the man. I'm going to pretend like I didn't totally luck out on a couple of overdrive phrases, didn't live in the red for 3/4ths of the song, and haven't been too scared to play it again knowing that more than my fair share of failures are on the way.

Couldn't agree more! If they sprinkle in JA, it won't even be close. I need Target to run another MSP deal ASAP.

I didn't pick up that Dixie Chicks song, but it's definitely on the list. That's good. When I want to go all retard-monkey again, I'll pick that up.

Actually, vocals has the highest advantage on both of these songs. You'll probably place very near the top on this one.

Any predictions for a St. Patty's day release?

I'd love for some Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly to show up here. Though both are, at least somewhat, related to WMG...

In 15 months we've been getting DLC we have gotten one holiday theme pack(Christmas). So I'm going to have to go out on a limb and say we get jack shit that is related to St. Patrick's Day.

Now if we were in the GH:WT thread I might muster a guess since they have done at least 3 different Holidays(Patty's, 4th of July, Christmas). They may not have all been theme related but they at least acknowledged the days.

There's no way this would still be a secret.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Actually, that reminds me. Someone needs to dig up that rumor from about two months back about that 'Mega' artist hitting in March. Anyone else remember that? I think it was rumored the week before Ten.

I jokingly guessed that it would be U2.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I think we determined that the invitees would be playing Ten at GDC a day before (3/23) it is released.

But that was based on best available information at the time.

I don't think back-to-back U2 & PJ is even in the realm of possibility.

No, but it's something to talk about. I'm not into U2 so it doesn't matter to me.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I'm pretty sure that Ten was leaked before the March "Mega-Artist" announcement, so we could be seeing something different unveiled at GDC.

Then again, my times might be off, so who knows.

I just got my receipt that I'll be at GDC for the entire Expo, which is Wed-Fri. Monday and Tuesday are just tutorial days for attendees and Harmonix wouldn't announce anything until most everyone was in attendance.

It was which is why I thought I'd bring it up again.
