Sorry i can't help. I have only heard their one acoustic album. It was excellent btw - but i don't know enough of their stuff to specifically recommend some cuts.

I'll be picking up some Snoop Dogg for sure, especially if it's his classic shizzle - I just don't know how that would work, but I'll fork over the points to find out.
Anyone else buy the Fratellis pack? I think it's pretty damn fun.

I couldn't narrow it down to only a few songs. I think you have to listen to Organix and Do You Want More?!?!?! Those two albums are quintessential Roots and in my humble opinion two of the greatest hip hop albums ever.

Yeah, I agree.... the only way I could post a 5 song playlist is by not thinking about it too much and picking the first songs that came to mind. In the hip-hop world, they really are craftsman when it comes to creating whole albums. They aren't best summed up by their singles or individual songs. But when a guy needs a sampler, a guy needs a sampler. How else is anyone supposed to get into a band.

That being said, I listened to it. Pretty solid. I LOVED the Seed 2.0 but Rising Up was really enjoyable as well. The rest were okay, but thats coming from someone who's ears are usually only used to hearing Rock & Metal. Just from a few tracks I can tell they are way more talented than most of the popular shit that makes it's way up the charts.
Any artists that use real instruments immediately get more respect from me. Electronic drums, beats, synthesized instruments, etc. do nothing for me.

I'd love some The Roots in RB. My Hip-Hop/Rap involvement is pretty much limited to The Roots, Outkast, NERD, The Streets, and who I see as the ultimate champ of metal/punk/hip-hop/rap crossover, P.O.S. (And definitely the best lyricist I've seen in rap in years, if ever. The guy is amazing.)

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
let me give this a try here even though you all play on 360...
I am looking to borrow a Rock Band disk (RB 1) for PS3.
I tried all of the local rental places and they only rent RB 2. I know no one who has RB 1 for PS3.
I am willing to paypal you the shipping charges + something for your trouble and then ship it back to you one day later.
if anyone who has RB2 for PS3 is willing to do this I would greatly appreciate it.

The free trial at Gamefly might not be long enough to get the disc as it's in pretty high demand. At least, it was when I first signed up back in November. I signed up for the discounted first month just to make sure I'd have enough time and I didn't end up getting RB1 until the month was almost up. Hell, my first game didn't even ship until 4 days after I'd signed up.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
I did a free Gamefly trial a while ago when I first got my PS3. Well, instead of the free trial I opted for whatever discounted upgrade they offered me. In the time I had Gamefly I had one disk shipped to me (NHL) and everything else sat in my queue.
Maybe I will look into another route.
eBay has a few auctions right around $20. I guess I could just do that.

We work very closely with MTV Games (who, as you know, own us) to pick songs in our game. A lot of the time we are picking tracks and sometimes they are, and sometimes it is a series of mutual, beneficial decisions.
Personally I am stoked about Snoop, I think it will be a fun optional pack for lots of people who like him to play. I think other people who like rap will also dig it and there are plenty of us who play Rock Band. And for the people who don't, well it is optional and the fears about us suddenly only putting out rap are just as unfounded as the fears about us only putting out country, or only putting out oldies, or only putting out whatever genre happens to come out in a week that people feel the need to make conspiracy theories about. As I stated earlier we are a big company with a lot of musical tastes who feel very strongly that our game can be served best by allowing people the option of expanding their library to other genres. Not only is it good business, it is also the best way to take care of our very, very sizable pool of customers whose musical tastes are, by-and-large, just as big as our own at Harmonix.

I don't know how those guys do it, cause if I was a mouthpiece for HMX my response would be along the lines of
I guess that's probably why I don't have a job such as that.

I'll share my idiocy with everyone else here...
I'm a teacher, and we have a conference tomorrow, which means no school for the kids. Well, because of this, I've got it in my head that today is Friday. So I checked this thread over my lunch hour like I always do, wanting to see the next week's DLC, and I kept thinking...Why haven't they updated it yet? I thought the announcements were coming earlier now?
So, yes, I'm an idiot. And, as mentioned, I'm shaping the minds of our nation's youths.
