My xbox live expired. Looks like around $50 per year is the best unless you do some region/vpn shenanigans? Then the $1 upgrade to game pass maybe still works?

Yes, this is by far still the best deal to get gamepass (though it's more than 1 dollar if you've used the upgrade before, it's still dirt cheap). I let my Live expire a couple of months ago just so I could stack three more years of Gamepass.

So I found a place selling a year of Xbox Live for $27, codekie, comes in four three month keys. All entered fine, so I have three years again. Upgrading to gamepass doesn’t appear to be offering me a discount, but charging $9 or more a month. But I guess I rarely used it in the 3 years I had it for $1.

The PlayStation Summer sale has added some more titles. I picked up SpiderMan:MM for $29.99 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla for $23.99.
I’m on the fence for Ghosts of Tsushima: Director’s Cut for $49.69. Worth it? I’m wondering if I should just hold out until it has a bigger discount.

Apparently you can buy a $10 digital PS5 upgrade for the disc PS4 version of Vanguard, just like they did with Tony Hawk. And just like that game, it's not possible to upgrade the disk X1 version.
