Tomb Raider also comes out.

I'm thinking about TR, Yoshi and Mario Maker.

I'm thinking about waiting for Best Buy's sale :)

What's the Best Buy sale? Same thing?

Yeah. Except with GCU it comes to $32 a game where at Target it's $40 a game.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

The other difference is that Target's sale discount is prorated among the three games, so your discount is 33% off every game allowing you to return two of the games and keep just one for $40 if that's what you wanted to do, while Best Buy just makes the third game free and selling them as an inseparable bundle.

That, and we don't officially know that a Buy 2 Get 1 sale will be happening at Best Buy again this year (though we assume it will).

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Conventional wisdom states that with GCU and $10 Pre-Order credits, BB new release prices are not worth the B2G1 stock/finding- other -titles hassle, right?

$60-20%=$47.99 out of pocket (more than Target's $40) + $10 future value + RZ points worth ~ $3 additional value (47+47 = 98 RZ points (+ more if using BB credit card)).

Brings down the net cost to around $35, if you don't do shady accounting later with the RZ certificates on future purchases.

Right? So, basically, keep the Fallout 4 pre-order rather than trying to find two other titles to buy at Target. Because, if you can find two, you can find three that you missed or weren't part of BB's CGU pre-order deals.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

In that particular case, pinata, you're best off picking up the Gold Edition of Fallout 4 at Best Buy. It includes the $30 Season Pass and has a built-in $5 discount (plus Vault Boy Socks). Then add the GCU and $10 pre-order bonus and it's a net of $58 for the Game + Season Pass. That's a better deal than Target by a mile ($40 + $30, and NO TACKY FALLOUT SOCKS)

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Yeah, that's what I think I'm going to do actually. I just don't know if I can apply my regular edition $5 pre-order to the Gold Edition the day I pick it up or if I need to cancel and re-pre-order to have the $10 bonus be honored.

You should pre-order the Gold version anyway. The $84.99 MSRP is for preorders only according to their website.

 I'm going to stop by my B&M today and ask about it. The website makes it seem like you can only get it through them (no store pick-up yet) but the shipping means I won't have it until 11/12.

I wasn't with you until you got to the choice of games.

Yeah, the fact that they let you choose about any game makes it a pretty good deal if you are looking for a Kinect bundle.

I ordered mine online for in-store pick-up

Suck. Not available based on any of the Tulsa-area zip codes for me. Maybe I'm too late for it or they're not guaranteeing stock around here. Who knows... It's why I'm going to the store this afternoon.

I'm interested in the GCU deal - but I don't buy many games a year and I usually wait for the AAA games and consoles to get cheaper before I buy them. Should I subscribe?

I think it's only $30 a year now. So if you think you will save at least $30 by doing it, then yeah.

Meaning you will save money if you buy 2.5 full-priced games over the next two years. If you live anywhere near a Best Buy and ever buy games, you should get GCU.

When did the bb sale happen last year? I'll wait for that as there will be more games to choose from then. I was going to get fallout,bops3 and then something to probably sell

Historically, does Best Buy include PC in these sales or is it consoles only?

EinCB 11-03-15 08:34 PM

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

According to an article I just read, during the second week of December last year.

EDIT: On last year's flyer, it includes PC games as well.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Nice, thanks. Not sure if I'll pick up anything, but I might split it with someone else and pick up Tomb Raider perhaps.
