Ack, I might have to go for this. $30 is a steal even if you only moderately use it.

I didn't post that deal because I figured everyone's already stocked up after the $8-$10 deals. I'm good until 2022. Don't know if Best Buy is though.

Thanks. I didn't get to sign up at Christmas. Guess now is the time.

They are doing a lot better than they were a year or so ago.

Before Christmas the promotion was to activate a new cell phone and you get the GCU for free.

There was a legit loophole where you could buy a $7 SIM card and get it on the deal, so a lot of people stacked up for many years.

Ahh, I remember that. Never could find time to swing by to get one.

Damn, that thing is dropping fast

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I paid $59 for it a couple months ago, it's alright but needs more features.

How is the PS4 streaming? Do you have to leave the system on or in standby?

RichC2 02-13-15 10:22 AM

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Stand-by works. The streaming works great overall but fast action games tend to be a little laggy. It's perfect for slower games though.

I take it it won't work if the PS4 is completely off though, correct? I don't usually leave mine in standby because it might go a week unused at times.

Correct, standby only. Same with remote play on the Vita.

OK, I figured. Oh well, that's still pretty cool. And for $40, it might be fun to mess around with. Thanks guys.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I was pretty optimistic about that little device, but app support is terrible, and if I want to remote play, I'll just use my Vita. It also lacks functionality with a ton of Vita games, including some of the best ones. Pass.

Far Cry 4 at $30 is another matter, and I might just bite on that.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Well that sold out fast. 500+ wait list is less than 2 mins. It was nice that they offered both bundles though. I have the $40 one in my cart so now I have 15 mins to decide :)

EDIT: Yeah, I'm going to pass. If I didn't already have a Vita I would probably bite though.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Damn! Guess people really want it or they didn't have many to sell. Just go for it Skillz! Can always try to sell later for a profit. ;)

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Haha, if I thought I would use it more, I definitely would. In the past couple months I got a Wii U and a spare 360 for the bedroom. If another "toy" would show up at this point, I'm pretty sure my wife would shoot me :) Especially since it does pretty much the same thing the Vita does, which also doesn't get used nearly as much as it should.

Daily Deal:

A 500gb PS4 plus the Last of Us being sold on Groupon for 350 bucks using the coupon code PREZ10. The shipping is free but you pay tax on the charged amount. Still a nice deal.

Are there PS4s that have more or less than 500GB?

RichC2 02-13-15 03:01 PM

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

No. But they throw that up there anyway.

Best Buy has the preorder of the next Rainbow Six game for $52.99 for Xbox One. That seems like a really good deal in conjunction with GCU: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/tom-clan...&skuId=7341028
