There's a lot of discussion about it because it is literally the best possible deal to be found on new videogames right now and for the foreseeable future.

If there were other cool deals to talk about, people would be talking about them. New release games are $59.99 everywhere besides Best Buy for now, though.

It's a great deal and one of the only "good" ones going on right now.

Check out CAG if you want other stuff.

I went an hour ago and did the exact same thing and as I mentioned earlier there were no GCU cards to be found. They had to look up the SKU in order to "purchase" it along with the card.

Why did they have to look up the SKU? I posted it right here on this page, and then you quoted it!

They had to look up the SKU because there was not one single GCU card to be found in the store nor did any of us have it memorized. I already have the two years added from this purchase. I'm going to return the phone tomorrow and buy another card for another 2 years.

Shadows of Mordor might be $25 soon on amazon. Infamous, Knack, Killzone & MLB are already $25:

Heading into theater, might have to dig up the rest of the details yourselves.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I'm good to Nov 2017.

Only did it once, just now with the $6.99 Net10 activation kit above.

Good enough.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Well.. I went to Best Buy and saw both the $10 yellow package kit and then a Blue International one that the shelf tag said it was $4.99. Brought it to the register and it rang at $9.99 and put the GCU cost to $0.00. The cashier was surprised and asked what kind of deal it was. She said thats a good deal. I mentioned that the card had a shelf tag that said it was supposed to be $4.99. She called over to mobile to ask and I met the guy there to show him the tag. They adjusted my price to $4.99. So, a little over $5 and I extended my GCU 2 more years. I found a card for GCU in the video game area. Just waiting on my account online to show the 2 additional years. So far it still shows my original expiration date of Feb 2017.

Three of those purchases in the next two year put you in the black. It also takes 20% off any sale game as well. Unless you never buy games, you won't lose out. Hell it's cheaper to just buy those new games, play them for a week, keep the pre-order DLC and sell them back to Best Buy a few weeks later than it is just to rent the games.
Belated thanks for this Decker. You had me convinced. Luckily for me, my laziness kicked in until this phone deal popped up. So I've now added four years for $20 in SIM cards.

For those that already had a GCU subscription, did you get any kind of email adding the extra years? Or do you recall how long it took to show up on your my best buy page?

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

OK, I had to get in on the deal too. Went down to Best Buy, and they had the Net10 kit. So I bought one, got Unlocked, and for $7.54 I'm in for 2 years.

I just wish the $10 Reward Certificate pre-order deal applied to every game. For instance, WWE 2K15 isn't included. Lame.

But I may just bite on GTA V for the PS4 now. Pre-order for $48, use a reward cert I already have for $20, and get $10 more out of it. Good deal.

It's one of their deals of the day for tomorrow. I doubt it will be $25 though. I could see $40 though.

Sorry, just posting what I saw at SD... and yeah, $25 seems low.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Hmmm.. I haven't gotten either.. No email for renewing.. and don't see the additional 2 years yet when looking at my best buy profile.

I see the transaction now in mybestbuy.com page.. It didn't show up within a few hours of the purchase. My receipt has my reward zone number on it.. shows the GCU sku 3081375 with a price of 0.00.... my receipt says I saved 99.99. I confirmed my email address for my account when she scanned the GCU card.

I guess I'll give it a day or so.. Its' been about 7 hours since I made the purchase. Hopefully it will show up on its own soon.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

My 4 additional years from last night's and today's purchases both showed up in minutes. My purchase from Monday that still has not shown up to extend my GCU will promptly be returned for a refund.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

My extra years shiwed up by the time I got to the car.
And thanks for posting that $6.99 card Decker. I used my "mystery" RZ cert on one of them, so 2 bucks for 2 years on that one.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Hmmm. that doesn't make me feel good about the purchase today. I don't see my extra years showing up yet. Hopefully she didn't do anything else when she had to price adjust the card from $9.99 to $4.99...

I'll give it a day or two and then call customer service to see if they can fix it.

You didn't have to do anything with the card after the cashier rang it up?
