Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I think something shady is going on with ME2 at Best Buy. I think they pulled all new copies from shelves on Tuesday when ME3 came out, even though they just published a coupon that only activated on Sunday.

I've been to 4 Best Buys this week (I did not go Sunday or Monday), and there is not a copy to be found anywhere. They also no longer list new copies on their website, and I asked a guy about it in one of the stores, and he couldn't even find the SKU for a new one in their system.

They were plentiful last week. I highly doubt they all flew off the shelves on Sunday and Monday.

You may be understimating the number of flippers in your area... were there any Arkham City copies there?

Lots. I saw everything that there is a coupon for except ME2.

EDIT: And if you were going to try and make money flipping, Arkham would be the one to do it with

Also, I'm not saying that they pulled it because they didn't want to sell it for 5 dollars, but I am saying that they've made a decision to stop carrying it (I'm sure EA didn't stop publishing it). That much seems obvious to me (if they didn't, it would still be on their website), but it's a pretty crappy thing to do when you just published that coupon.

Same here. Both stores that I visited were both mysteriously missing copies. I didn't have time to talk to anyone tho. My friend went the next morning, and while they still didn't have any of the games, he was able to talk to someone and they actually ordered the game for him.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I just stopped by on my way home and there were around 10-15 copies of ME2 at my local store. The coupons started working on 3/1, so there's been plenty of time for stores to sell out.

Lord of the Rings: War in the North for PS3/360 is $20 at Frys. It's a little flawed, but at that price it might be worth it for us Frodo freaks.

That's tempting, but this feels like a game that'll be $5-$7 on Steam very soon. I think I'll wait for that.

Heads up for those still hanging on to your Best Buy @Gamer coupons, Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be 29.99 next week, making it 14.99 after coupon.

Also, in case you missed it last time, Batman: AC will be 29.99 again (9.99 after coupon).

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

They are also going to have SSX for $29.99 and AC Revelations and NFS On the Run for $19.99. I'm hoping Amazon matches some of these.

Yep, still got it...the magazine sits on the coffee table next to Maxim, Playboy and Oracle magazine (if that isn't an odd trio, I don't know what is). I seem to just collect Final Fantasy games these days, maybe I'll actually play one of the newer ones sometime soon

Thanks for the heads up. I've been waiting for a good deal on SSX.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I did some recon today. The closest Best Buy had a bunch of Final Fantasy XIII-2 copies, but no Batman AC at all (360). According to the website the one on the other side of town has copies so I may head over there Sunday.

Did Best Buy have any deals on Borderlands GOTY edition?

No, but you just missed in on Amazon last night. It was a lightning deal for $19.99 on PS3 & 360.

It's $19.99 next week at Gamestop as well. Seems like everyone's having a spring sale 4/1-4/7, so hopefully Amazon will match some deals.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Might be worth getting especially with the Borderlands 2 coming out in September for those who don't have it.

LarryC picked it up and I haven't played in almost a year but might be worthwhile to take a ride thru again with a few folks. From the previews of "2"...it's going to be a blast of a ride.

Playing through Borderlands now would be a blast, but also burn me out by the time 2 hit. I'm keeping my appetite intact.

Got it last night I had some trade in credit at GS and didn't have to come outta pocket.

Played a little last night single player and had a blast. Can't wait to play with friends.

I think all four of my characters are above Level 58. Plus I have lots of "Goodies" in my Moxie Storage Accounts that I can give away...

Don't take the goodies Larry, it kills half the appeal of the game.

Seriously, that's just not fun AT ALL. Sure, once you've been through a time or two it makes sense.

Don't play with over-level characters either since you'll artificially scale yourself against the game and it just ruins it.

Get a buddy (or 3) or some old hands, but start new characters and just have a blast. That's the point.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Yeah, I've always disagreed about it being a multiplayer game only, but I will agree that taking "goodies" will ruin the game. Not that his low level character could use them, but still. Don't let someone talk you into artificially leveling you either. That's even worse.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

The "Goodies" cannot be used till you level up. They're just some neat weapons and orbs that might come in handy later on and one might not find.

Now tagging along with a higher level person in order to instantly level up wihout so much of firing a weapon is another case....it does take the fun out of it. But doesn't hurt to have someone watch your back in a few places and guide you around.

Larry, I'll add you to my friends list. I haven't cracked open my copy yet but a friend is also picking it up next week since it's on sale. I'm sure we can easily find a 4th person from there.
