9/9/09 is reminding me way too much of the dreamcast release date... maybe they'll resurrect the dreamcast too!

They really need to post the special content so I know if I should just buy the $100 world tour bundle and save $90... Not including a guitar sucks =/

The Limited Edition Premium Bundle: everything you need to jump into the shoes of Beatles! *

* except a guitar

Seriously, if they are aiming this at a mainstream audience, many of whom don't own a previous GH or RB game, why would you leave that key component out? So weird.

By special content I hope they are talking stickers and other ephemera.

If its special as in special on disc content there is going to be a problem.
The game content should be the same across the board.

Yep that would be me. Never played one of these games before, but The Beatles version piques my interest.

I guess they'll probably have a Beatles-themed guitar for sale separately, but still an odd decision. Why not just leave out the junk (mic stand, kick drum head, etc.) and include a guitar? I picture a lot of clueless people picking up the big box and being pissed when there are only 3 instruments in there.

I'm confused. Can you not use the "bass" controller as a guitar? Are the mechanics of a bass controller somehow different from a guitar controller?

Everyone just expected the $60 premium over the original RB/RB2 bundles was for it to include enough instruments for 4 players out of the box.

Yes, the "bass" is just a guitar, but it's modeled after a very famous bass guitar. For all intents and purposes, it's the "bass" of this set. This is how the masses and Beatles fans will see it.

Yup. 4 Beatles = 4 instruments. Seems like the Limited Edition oughta be everything you need to have the "full band experience" right out of the box.

I'll stop beating this horse now. It is nearly a fine powder at this point.

The full kit was an instant purchase for me when they announced the release. Now I may just pick up the disk only since there is no guitar.

Same here.

This is a pretty retarded decision. Guess they had to fuck up somewhere. Hopefully this dumb decision is no reflection on the game itself.

OK, so just to be clear, everyone is complaining that the special edition isn't coming with two guitar controllers (or a bass and guitar, whatever, same thing)? Even though no bundle for Rock Band or Guitar Hero has ever come with two guitars?

No, everyone is complaining that the differences in this set vs. the RB2 set don't seem worth $60.

At this point it seems we're paying a premium for the style of instruments, not the quantity.

But they charge this because they can.

Yes, they're definitely charging more because it says "The Beatles" on it, no doubt about that. I've still got the premium set pre-ordered, because I've got my GH:WT guitar but I could use a nice RB wireless guitar (oops, I mean bass) to go with it. Also, if you're able to do three part harmony with three mics, I will need two more mics, and one comes with a stand in the premium set, so it makes sense for me to buy it.

Bad decisions in the past don't justify bad decisions in the present. Why not set a new precedent?

I just don't see why people were expecting it. Two guitars, a branded drum kit, mic, stand, and other additional miscellaneous goodies for only $60 more? I never expected that.

Oh, okay, I think I see the confusion now. I would expect them to charge a little more but include all the hardware for a 4-person band. You're gonna need to drop another $60 or whatever it might be on a 2nd guitar if you're coming into this game fresh anyway. Might as well offer that as part of a bundle.

It's all moot for me since I have all the hardware I need and I'll just be getting the disc.

$250 for essentially what you can get now for $189 is wrong.

Sure, it's not great, but it says The Beatles on it. I can see why they're charging a premium. Do I agree with it? No. Did I expect it? Yes.

See, no one expected a branded drum kit or mic stand. All we knew last week was the bundle was $60 more than the RB1/2 ones. This was even before the harmonizing was mostly confirmed and we could talk about having more than one mic in there possibly. Hell, maybe the mic is now wireless. That would add to the value, obviously.

Do you think that a 2nd guitar is worth about $60?

That's the whole shift in gears here. We went from assuming that because it makes sense to what we're presented with.

Now we're simply questioning if what they've added to the standard bundle is worth the $60.

It's quite simple and you're over-complicating it by assuming we all expected all of this AND a 2nd guitar. These thoughts are mutually exclusive.

For me, I'm about 60/40 for getting the bundle. I will wait to see the final product before I commit either way. When I thought it was 4 instruments, I'd say I was 80/20.

OK, that's a fair point. I guess once they announced the details of the bundle I didn't get why everyone was griping about there not being two guitar controllers. That makes sense to me now, thanks.

Nice footage. Makes me want to buy a ticket for tonight's show at the Joint off a scapler, but I'm sure they're a fortune.

I liked those character models -- not a shock, sort of what I was expecting, but still nice.

Oh yeah, and I've updated my countdown timer accordingly
