one thing I really like about mw2 is the load time, u can skip the logos and go right to the menu in about 10 seconds.

...I've played FPS games for quite some time and I'm still not there!!
During week 1 of the MW2 release I was rolling a 1.71:1 Kill/Death ratio. By week two (which I had vacation and quickly leveled up to 60!) when all the pros out there finally picked up the game and got on board that KD ratio quickly dropped to around 1.35:1 ..and it's still slipping.
But it's still fun ..and highly addictive.

Well after spending a lot of time in the co-op mode playing and digging it, I've finally gotten around to the campaign.
Awesome.
Had some great online games today too, I'm starting to get my rhythm on the maps.
LOVE 'bling' on the Vector. Finally a silencer and a scope.

So who goes through Prestige and who stays at level 70? In the previous two CoD games I just stay at the top rank instead of going through prestige, to me it's not worth it.
I prefer completing all the challenges instead.
One more thing...does it drive anybody crazy when they have the grenade laucher attachment equipped and the goddamn thing bounces unless you shoot it 50 ft away? It's led my death numerous times.

Yeah, I've run into this many times, especially when I don't know the map very well yet and suddenly I'm in cramped quarters rather than a more open area. Though I've actually killed a few guys with the grenade round itself, which is quite satisfying.

I got hit from across the map one time by a grenade. It didn't explode at first, just the impact was enough to knock me out. Not as cool as that knife kill though.
The only reason I don't see myself completing 100% of every weapon is that the extended mags are a pain in the ass to get. Also, there's no way I'm going to ever 100% a sniper rifle. I don't like sniper rifles. Like Yahtzee says, it turns an FPS into a point-and-click adventure game.

Played a bit more FFA last night. Again, I'm normally not very good at and don't enjoy this style of gameplay, but I'm having a blast with this one. I'm not sure how people normally play, but I usually just pick a route that takes me around the perimeter of the map and run it 3-4 times. To keep from being too predictable, I'll then switch it up and run a different route or the reverse of the one I was doing. It seems like staying on the move with the marathon plus perk really helps my game. I die a lot, but usually get enough kills to place in the top 3. I've tried picking spots and hiding on a map, but that only seems good for one or two kills and then you have to move or someone you took out will come back for you. Anyway, any other tips for how to approach the gameplay on this? I think my kill/death ratio is only like .8 or .9 and I'd like to get better. I'm level 21 and it seems like my dude's too slow in raising his weapon with the assault rifles. I like the submachine guns, especially the UMP.45, but have a tough time killing anyone more than 30 yards or so away.

I play similar to you maxfisher, and let me say I really was tearing it up once I hit level 29 or 30. I've been running the P90 (silenced) which you unlock around lvl 24, with Marathon, Cold-Blooded and Ninja. My entire strategy (and I usually play HQ, Domination, etc) is to flank the enemies, or just in general keep myself out of their line of sight. And people seem to run around only paying attention to the radar, so with those perks it's just very effective to keep out of sight and pick them off one by one. But definitely keep moving.
I'll admit though, pre-lvl 30, I was rocking a close to .75 k/d, but it's gone up significantly since unlocking the p90.

My K/D was probably around 0.50 or so. It's usually low in well-coordinated game types because I never play with a party so I never have anyone looking out for me. Once I play FFA I can usually get it in the 1-2 range.
Playing Team Hardcore is the best way to train yourself to not rely on radar, UAVs, etc. Just your sight and hearing. On TH even the heartbeat sensor will only catch about 50% of the people.
In general if you're going to "camp" somewhere, height is a great advantage. Terminal, Rust, Highrise, all have great spots. What most people don't know is that they are set up right next to a big gas tank. If someone's up there and you can't get them down, shoot the tank.

some spots here that I didn't know I could get to (but likely have been killed from)

I've been killed from most of the spots in that video. The problem with camping is that if you play with someone that's stubborn, they'll keep coming back until you're dead. When I get taken out by a camper, I can usually kill them on my first time back to where they're hiding. If not the first time, I'll keep going back until I get them.
Another handy trick that I just figured out last night is to set up a sentry gun where it can reach an area with a lot of traffic, but where there's only one or two ways to approach it. Then you cover those approaches to make sure you can get all the people trying to take it out. I got like 11 kills in the last minute of a round doing that last night.

Quick n00b question: I've been playing FFA (won my first match!) but I was thinking about trying Team Deathmatch. If you're playing with random people in TDm, is it pretty necessary to communicate via headset? I switched to Friends Only on the comm and I'm a better person for it, but I'm not sure how it'll hinder me in random team games.

I'm glad deaths aren't recorded against player profiles while in Private match mode, because I tried the High Rise (7:29) trick and I keep bouncing off the rail to my death. Over thirty times from different angles this that the other and no go. Curious how everyone else is fairing with that one.

Has anybody seen a tactical nuke yet? Just wondering because a 25 killstreak seems impossible especially when you can't count your "bonus" kills (ie sentry gun, pavelow, harriers, etc) in the streak. I was fortunate enough to get the stealth but that's as high as I can get so far.

Yeah, it was kind of dumb. It counts down and warns you that the nuke is coming, and then there's a big heat wave while you enter slow motion and the screen hues red before going black and white. Just going from memory, but that's how I remember it.

I had an 11 kill streak on Estate yesterday, I couldn't imagine 25...ugh. I also rarely use a headset. If MarbleOx is on here, that's why I never join the party.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - No Russian in this thread
I got a 23 kill streak on Estate. I got 5 kills to get a predator missle, took out 3 guys with that, then called in a Harrier which killed probably 10 people, meanwhile I was running around taking out guys who were shooting at my Harrier with a silenced SMG.
The good part about getting nuked is that you complete a challenge for getting nuked (as long as you're alive when it goes off)
Though I didn't realize that you auto-win with the nuke, my team was destroying the other team in a Domination game, something like 150-70 when it went off. So it kinda sucked to lose because of that.

^^ I could have sworn that I read during one of the loading screens that Killstreak perks don't count toward your killstreaks. That would mean the predator missle, harrier, etc don't add to your total. Maybe I misunderstood.

I thought it was the items you acquire from air drops that don't count towards your killstreak. If you earn a killstreak the old fashion way it still counts.
